I'm putting this here so I get more feedback.

On Thursday, my step-son graduates from high school. It's going to be in the high school gym. The weather forcast: 72 and showers.

What should I wear?????

I'd wear an outfit similar to something you would wear to church or an afternoon baby/bridal shower.

I would wear a skirt and shirt and sandals.

Something you would wear to church.

UNLESS you are like the people around here who show up in short shorts and tank-tops with their air horns.

Does the gym have air conditioning? If it does, I would wear some black pants and a simple top (church-type outfit). If it doesn't I would wear a dress or skirt so I could be cool.

And take an umbrella! :)

That's just what I would do, regardless of what other people wore.

Anything that you'll be cool and comfortable in. Cool as in temperagture

With that many people in a gym (or auditorium) it is going to get hot. Gyms generally aren't air conditioned, but if it is then you're lucky!

72 and showers - to me that equals frizz. And frizz means humidity and sticky yuckiness. Maybe a light sundress and sandals would be comfortable. You're also going to either be sitting on bleachers, or a folding chair that is crammed in so more chairs can be set out.

definitely just a skirt and top with sandals. Most high schools don't have air conditioning that I have ever encountered.

Every high school gym I've ever been in has been air-conditioned. I'd probably wear a church-type outfit - skirt, shirt, and sandals.

must be the area and when they were built. All the ones I have been in never had AC.

That's probably the biggest factor. Here in Texas, every building has AC.

Yes. None of the schools I went to in NJ had AC. Only place there was AC was the discipline office and the main office (loved senior year when I worked in both offices in the dead of the heat and humidity of NJ)

Since 72 isn't all that warm, I'd wear something like a skirt and twinset (or dress and cardigan or jacket of some sort) so I could remove the sweater if it got hot in the gym with all those bodies.

Heh, yep. I'm from Texas, so I'm sure that explains it. :)

I'm in the NW suburbs of Chicago - and they just this year put AC in my son's high school gym - he graduated 6-1 and I was FREEZING!! (I wore a sleeveless dress similar to this. (http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/womens/dresses/PRD~327865/axcess+Floral+Seersucker+Dress.jsp)

Thanks all! I'm going to wear a column dress (sleeveless) that has a short jacket over it. And yes, the FRIZZIES will be in full effect today as at graduation time strong storms and 76% humidity are predicted!
