It was "just" a work email and had absolutely nothing sensitive or embarrassing in it. But it would definitely make no sense to the person who received it since he works for one company and it included photos from a completely different company that I was intending to send to a freelance art director. They both have the same first name, my email program did auto-fill, I didn't pay attention and along I sent it.

The person I sent it to is someone who I interviewed months ago for an article, not someone I interact with regularly.

In that case, would you send another email apologizing and/or explaining or just leave it alone?

I decided to send a second email with a quick apology/explanation. Just curious what others would do.

I would send a second quick apology/explanation email. :)

Definitely. Send a "please disregard/sorry for any confusion" email. I've done that a couple times at work.

You did the right thing by sending the second e-mail.

If you have outlook, I recall the message - it seems to work no matter what the receiving email server/software is.

However last week, I copied a vendor on another vendor's note, and just sent a follow up telling her to disregard it.

Recall doesn't always work.
Send a follow up.

Now, if I could only get my namesake to forward along emails she gets that are intended for me, I'd be happy.

Absolutely, send a follow-up/apology/disregard email.

Yeah, sending the second email to disregard the first was/is the way to go.

I've sent emails to people on accident because of the auto-fill feature. Fortunately most of it goes to my boss' wife, and we get a good laugh out of it.
