I am taking my kids (2.5yo and 4yo) to swimming lessons this summer. The company who runs the lessons requires that all children under the age of 5 use a reusable swim diaper. I have found one for my 2.5 yo but not my 4yo. Are there swim diapers for 4yo kids? She has been potty trained for 2 years, so I feel this requirement is a bit ridiculous. But I don't want her to be booted from lessons due to a lack of a swim diaper (as much as I cringe at the thought of her wearing any type of diaper, and I am not entirely sure she will be ok with wearing it in the first place...). Any swim diapers for 4-5yo kids?

I think that requirement is ridiculous! In fact, I'd call the swim school and ask them where you can purchase a swim diaper for a child of that size. If it's their requirement, they should either: 1) sell them to you or 2) provide a local source.
I just checked the iPlay swim diapers and their largest size (XXL) is 30-37lbs or approx. size 3. Unless your DD is on the smaller side, even that wouldn't work.
I'd throw it back on the swim school/club. I'm sure a million other parents are having or have had the same issue.

That was my original thought, email the swim teacher and ask where the heck i can find a reusable swim diaper. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything obvious here. It seemed ridiculous, but I didn't want to hear that this was a normal, reasonable request and that swim diapers are readily available for 4-5yo kids. Thanks! :)

While I've only run across toddler sizes in stores, if you google reusable swim diaper, you might find something that fits.
Sand Pail Kids (http://store.sandpailkids.com/1006-08.html) has one for 4T 40 lbs+
KidsSurplus (http://www.kidsurplus.com/itemdetail.asp?item=45%20MPP%203HDR) sells them for kids upto 74 lbs. I had no idea that they were available.

I emailed the swim instructor, asking about the swim diaper policy. Let me back up a minute and copy the exact text from what I read:
USE OF SWIM DIAPERS: ALL students under the age of five (5) years are required to wear a reusable swim diaper. These must have tight fitting elastic legs and waist. Disposable swim diapers are NOT allowed. Students under the age of five will not be allowed in the pool without the approved diaper. NO EXCEPTIONS. Swim diapers should be purchased before the first day of class.
So this is some pretty strong wording, right? He emails me back and says its not required at all, they just have that in there for insurance purposes. He said we don't need one for my 4yo. That's annoying. But I am glad I asked instead of trying to find one and figuring out how to force my DD to wear it.
Weddings by I hadn't seen your post when I emailed him, but it is good to know there are options out there. I'm sure there are people who need them (and if my son continues with his current path he might just be one who needs them in a few years, though I hope not!!) but I am glad to know we don't. Mostly because I think my daughter would feel pretty bad having to wear a diaper at this point.
