Share your recipes, please! I need a good one for my 3rd of July party and those I've found online are all so different... Brandy or no? Gin? Ginger ale?
Ahhh! :p

My mom couldn't find her recipe, but I did find this one that claims to be an "authentic Spanish" version.
Ingredients:
1 Litre of red wine
2 oranges (juice - "naranjas de zumo")
4 peaches, cut into small pieces
5 desert spoons sugar
2 pieces of lemon skin
Steps:
1: Choose a red wine - Sangria is a refreshing drink and you don't need to use a vintage wine. We recommend a reasonably priced wine from Jumilla, Alicante or Valencia..... Put the wine into a jug, add the sugar, and stir until it is properly dissolved.
2: Squeeze the two oranges, and add the juice to the jug. Save a slice of orange skin to decorate.
3: Wash the peaches, peel them and cut them into small quarters (e.g. six per peach). Add them to the jug. If it is not Summer, you can use any other in-season fruit.
4: Put the jug into the fridge. Sangrķa should always be served chilled. If you want to reduce the alchohol concentration, add icecubes and slices of lemon. If you want to increase the alcohol concentration, add a small amount of cognac or rum.
Use quality ingredients:
Use wines from Jumilla, Alicante or Valencia. They are usually quite cheap, and are the best choice because of their colour, alcohol content and bouquet.
Tips/Secrets: Make it nice and fruity. Apples, pears, kiwis, bananas, tropical fruits.... can be used instead of (or aswell as) peach. You can experiment byadding more or less drinks such as cognac, rum, gin and vodka, or you can dilute the alcohol content by adding more orange juice and ice cubes. Some sangria fans like to add drinks such as a can of 7-up, or fizzy orange or lemon.

Here is my sangria I looked at about 75 different recipes and came up with this. I made it for 8 of my Mommy friends for a Mommy night out last week and they are still raving about it. ;) Its a little involved but SO yummy and with the cardimon pods it adds a great spice to it.
Noni Sangria
2 apples < I used fuji>
1 pint of strawberries quatered
1/2 pint of pitted/ halved fresh cherries
3 cinnamon sticks
8 cardimon pods
1 vanilla bean pod
1 gallon of sangria wine
1/2 pint of brandy
1/3 cup of triple sec
1/3 cup of Port < I used a ruby>
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of water
cut up fruits and cover with brandy, port, triple sec and a cup of
sangria let soak over night. In the morning I added the spices and
the rest of the sangria. In the afternoon I checked the flavor and
made a simple suryp of the water and sugar <heat the cup of water and cup of sugar to boiling once cooled> added it to the sagria to taste.
Be sure to remove the spices before serving. I counted the cardimon
pods because I think getting a whole one would wreck the sangria
experience.

Me again!
She said this one by Emeril is almost exactly like hers:
Sangria
Recipe courtesy Emeril Lagasse, 2003
Ingredients
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
1 large lemon
1 large orange
1 small apple, cored and thinly sliced
1 (750 ml.) bottle dry red wine (recommended: Rioja)
1/2 cup Grand Marnier
Instructions
Combine the sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat and
cook, stirring until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and allow to cool. Thinly slice 1/2 of the
lemon and 1/2 of the orange. Combine in large pitcher. Juice the other halves of the lemon and
orange and add juice and rinds to the pitcher. Add the apple, wine, Grand Marnier and chilled syrup
to the pitcher and stir until well mixed. Refrigerate until thoroughly chilled, about 2 hours. Serve
straight up or on the rocks.
Hope that helps!

My Mom's friend turned me on to this quick one. While I think the longer recipes with the dry red wine and liquor are great, this is a nice change.
For a good, but FAST one:
In a large pitcher cut up fruit to your liking
Peaches, oranges, lemons, grapes, cherries... etc.
Pour in two bottles of Boones Farm wine. I think the peach one is yummy in it.
Watch your intake cause if you remember back in the day... Boones farm gave a nasty hangover. But its slightly fizzy and quick.

Here's a favorite. A little different from the ones posted.
White Wine Strawberry Sangia
1 750-ml bottle dry white wine (I used Chardonnay)
1/2 cup strawberry schnapps or Creme de Strawberry
1/4 cup sugar
Whole bag of frozen strawberries (or fresh, when in season)
ice
In a 2 qt pitcher stir together wine, schnapps, and sugar until sugar dissolves. Add strawberries and chill for 1 to 4 hours. Serve over ice. If desired, garnish with whole strawberries.
6 (8oz) servings

What a great idea! We are also going to be cooking out by the pool on Sat. and this sounds like a great idea! YUMMY. I think I am going to try the Emeril one as that is the closest to the recipe that my friend makes.

I've tried a number of recipes and my favorite is the Martha Stewart recipe, modified to fit my likes/dislikes. Also, instead of fresh fruit, I buy the bags of frozen fruit to save time.
http://marthastewart.com/images/content/recipe/bever_00013_t.jpg
1 ripe peach, pitted and sliced
1 apricot, pitted and sliced
5 strawberries, sliced in thirds
1 orange, sliced in rounds
1/4 cup brandy, Grand Marnier, or Cointreau
Pinch of granulated sugar
1 bottle dry red or white wine, such as Spanish Rioja or Bordeaux
2 tablespoons superfine sugar
2 cups freshly squeezed orange juice
Macerate the fruit: Soak peach, apricot, strawberries, and orange in brandy, Grand Marnier, or Cointreau and a pinch of sugar for up to one hour. In a pitcher with some ice, combine the macerated fruit and liqueur with the remaining ingredients. Mix well, and serve.

Here's another good one, albeit slightly different.
Prosecco Sangria
http://marthastewart.com/images/content/feature/ft_aug03wine01_t.jpg
1 peach
1 nectarine
3 apricots
5 ounces peach brandy
1 bottle (750-ml) chilled Prosecco (Italian sparkling wine)
1 cup peach nectar
Superfine sugar (optional)
In a pitcher, combine peach, nectarine, and apricots, all pitted and cut into wedges. Stir in peach brandy; let sit at least 1 hour. Stir in Prosecco and peach nectar. Add superfine sugar, if desired. Serve chilled.
Here's one of my favorite Sangrias... obviously I will have to wait until next 4th of July to make it! ;)
Passionate White Sangria
Add the ginger ale just before serving.
3 cups pineapple juice
1 cup white grape juice
1 cup passionfruit juice
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
1 (750-milliliter) bottle Riesling or other slightly sweet white wine
1 (12-ounce) can ginger ale
Combine first 5 ingredients in a large pitcher; chill. Add ginger ale, stirring gently.
Yield: 10 servings (serving size: 1 cup)

Ironicaly, we went to the Olive Garden this evening and ended up ordering a pitcher of sangria....WARNING- This is the WORST sangria on the face of the planet. The server confessed it came from a "mix" ...EWWWWWWWW, and trust me, it sure did taste like it. Bah! Ah well, I washed it down with a 22oz Stella on tap. yum :)

We're hosting a Labor Day party, and I'm looking for a good sangria recipe. (either white or red) I've got a couple from allrecipes.com, but does anyone have a recipe that has been a hit in real life?
Thanks!

Check out Martha Stewart's website. I make a variation of her red sangria and get rave reviews - it's become my signature drink. People *ask* me to make it when they're coming over.
