How much does a movie ticket cost at the theatre nearest you? Just wondering.

My nearest theatre charges $12.75 for an adult ticket and parking is another $2. We usually choose to go to a theatre that's a little further away but has reserved seating and a more mature atmosphere. Ticket price there is $14 and parking is another $2.

Last time we were at the movies (Feb) tickets were $9/adult. No parking fee here.

The theater I go to most often is $9.50 for a regular adult ticket. The second movie theater I like is $10.00. No cost for parking at either.

To save money, we go to A.M. Cinema at AMC Theaters where all movies are $5 before noon on the weekends. Those other prices are too much considering I always have to have popcorn.

The last time we were there (Nov 2005) it was $9.00 per ticket, no parking fees.

There are movie theaters that charge for parking?! That's crazy. I would never go to the movies!

Tickets at the theater by our house are $6.50 matinee and $8.50 evening shows. This is a nice, regular theater that shows new movies - it's not like a cheapo theater or anything. After this thread I might not be able to gripe about movie prices anymore! :)

$10.50 at the two theatres I go to. One doesn't have parking at all, and the other validates at a garage--it's maybe $5? I never drive there. Neither has reserved seating--I've only seen that in London!

$10 adult ticket, $8 matinee.

The theater is downtown, and while they don't have a pay parking lot you usually have to pay to park downtown unless you take the max or bus, and parking is about $1.25 an hour, so probably $2.50-3.75 for parking.

Hence, we don't got to the movies very often :(

Adult tickets are $12 at the theater we usually visit. There's an AMC that isn't too far away, so we'll have to see if the A.M. Cinema offer is available here -- thanks Adaya!

The one nearest our house is $6 and $4 matinees. No parking charge. I've never heard of such a thing.

That theatre recently lowered its prices though. It used to be $7.75 and $8.25 on weekends after 6.

Another nearby one is about $8.50. We never go there unless it's the only place something is playing. Besides the ridiculous price, it's always ridiculously crowded.

I think its $9 or $9.50 at the one we like, no parking fees. However, the only time we've gone lately was because we won tickets (and we have two more tickets that we won left to use). We're trying to pay off debt, so our replacement has been netflix. We've actually grown to really like staying home! honestly!

There are a few places near me, all cost around $8.50 - $10, except for the IMAX ones, which are $15. I don't drive, but I'm guessing the nearby parking garages aren't free.

The theatre closest to my house charges $9 for adults. No parking fees, but this is suburban Houston - parking lots galore!

We usually go to a theater further away that charges $6 per adult and serves dinner during the film. (Dinner is an additional charge.)

Although I no longer (sniff sniff) live in LA, my preferred locale for the movies was Cineramadome. Is that other theatre in WLA off the 405 still around? I forget the name but it had a restaurant inside?

FWIW I now live in uber-suburban NJ, and it's $9 for regular and half price for matinee. Parking of course is free. And I never, ever go. ;)

It's a great thing. Depending on your market, the A.M. Cinema tix are anywhere from $4-$6. DH worked in Tallahassee for 2 years and the tix there were $4.

Also, some theaters only do it on certain days of the weekend. The one in Tallahassee that we'd go to did it Fri-Sun, but the one closest to me only does it Sat. So just check before you go, so you don't walk up to the ticket window like we did thinking we were getting $5 tickets. LOL! :p

Yep, the ArcLight/Cineramadome. We go there most often because of the reserved seating and special screenings. Love it. And my other fav. theatre now is the Landmark in WLA- in the old Westside Pavillion. That must be the one you're thinking of? Also reserved seating, a wine bar/restaurant, lounge-style seating (sofas) in some theatres, super cool concessions (Pinkberry, Pizza Rustica, European chocolates...). Plus, free parking! Awesome movie theatres are definitely one of the best things about living in L.A.

The mall theater is $9.75, that's pretty standard around here, matinee is $6 I think. I haven't been in a while. And when I do go, I smuggle in my own M&Ms and drink :D

It is $8, no charge for parking. They will give DH an active duty military discount of $7.

Just went last Friday, and it was $9.25. However, I flirted with the cashier and convinced him I was a student, so it was $8. :)

We have a cheapie theater nearby that charges $1.50 for movies that have been out awhile. Great price, but always so crowded.

$10 for adult tickets and $8 for matinee shows, and there is no charge for parking (you may have to hoof it a bit though).
ETA: DH and I have been to the movies 3 times since we started dating, 12+ years ago. We're just not movie people!

Matinees run $6.50-$7.00 depending on the Theater. Evening shows are $8.50-$9.00 depending on the Theater.

We always goto a Matinee, and the one theater we enjoy best... (it never feels run down, dirty, still feels brand new and it's been around for awhile, and it is never crowded during matinees) does have a $1.00 parking fee because it is downtown. The rest of the movie theaters around here, do not charge for parking.

I think they run about $8 here, but we use the coupons out of the entertainment book for $6.50. We can't use them for the first few weeks a movie is out, but I am ok with that.

However for us, the price of going to the movies went up astronomically when we had DD as we have to pay the sitter. So we've been to 2 movies since she was born. Just not worth it to us :)

IDK. I only go when we have free tickets :)

I think the last time we actually paid for a ticket was around $9.
