I am having a really difficult time with my 3 yo. Between the not listening and otherwise poor behavior I am at my wits end. I know I am probably the main cause - DD has chronic constipation issues and for a while I wasn't sure if she was acting out because she was in pain or because she was being a toddler - I may have erred too much on the side of caution:o
But I still have a problem knowing what to do and when to do it, if that makes sense. I've read books, but I really feel like I need someone to come and see what goes on here.
I'm feeling horrible about everything:(

I don't have any advice, but I wanted to let you know that you are not alone. My DD also has chronic constipation, and I've also let her get away with a lot b/c she "isn't feeling well." :o When you have a sick child, it is sooo hard to know where to draw the line. As a result, we've seen an increase in trying behavior at our house as well. Try not to beat yourself up, it's definitely not you.

Thank You!
I have been cracking down since this post, and have found things have slowly gotten better. It got to the point where I realized it doesn't matter that she isn't feeling well, she can't throw her juice across the table....:o

The Early Childhood Ed teachers do home visits for free here. They are employed by the school district and work year-round. I've always got the impression from them that no issue is to small or not worth their time. I think it would be worth having them out to your house.
I have to hijack, ahavnes and hub1176, is there a place (thread, websites) that I can find out more about chronic constipation in kids? We have been dealing with this with my youngest DD since she was born and I feel like her ped. is dismissing the issue. If this isn't something she's going to "grow out of", I want to be prepared.

Geranium I'm sorry you are dealing with it. I know there have been tons of threads on CC dealing with constipation in babies and toddlers, but am a horrible searcher:o
We knew DD had a problem (not just toddler diet issues) because even with eating lots of fruits and drinking water or straight juice she was incapable of having a BM.
