DH and I are talking about taking a trip to Nashville for our anniversary/away footbal game/last-trip-before-baby. Can anyone suggest places to stay, things to do, etc? Thank you so much!

Dh and i really love the Gaylord Opryland Hotel....its amazing. we spent our first anniversary there, though it wasnt our first time. we were just there 3wks ago and they have summerfest going on.
Right next to the Opryland is the Opry Mills mall which is nice, if u like shopping.
some people say the hotel pretty pricey (yes - so if u get a good deal on a room grab it!) but its worth it. we've had great service and just enjoy going there even for a day trip.
i know there's some other hotels that are nice but i dont know too many.
i've stayed downtown at The Renaissance (i believe thats what it was) twice before) and it was good.
in terms of what to do .... not really sure cos we've usually just gone for work conferences and then to Opryland and gone downtown.

FH and I took a GreyLine tour while in Nashville and loved it. We also went to the Grand Ole Opry and really enjoyed it despite not being huge country music fans - it was more the experience.

I agree that if you can afford to stay in Gaylord Opryland hotel, do it. At least visit there. It was so amazing. :)
Big River Grille and Brewing company is pretty good (broadway, downtown).

Let's see, having spent college years in Nashville I should be able to give some advice.. However I love food so many things revolve around that.
Loveless Cafe - a must for good breakfast. It's a ways out so leave early and be prepared to wait for the best biscuits you've ever, ever had.
Big River - I am from Chatt (home of the original) and this is a favorite back home. I learned that I didn't hate beer, just the light ones. Try their stout - Yum.
SATCO-San Antonio Taco Company - good food for a lunch or quick dinner.
Rotierre's - great lemonade, milkshakes and cheesburgers. It's behind the drug store across from the towers at Vandy. It looks like a hole in the wall but go there anyway.
Take a tour of Vanderbilt's campus. Look for the building that's out of place. Most of our buildings are red brick. This is a grey stone. Rumor is the architect who built it was also the architect for Duke building and he mixed up the plans so we have one of their buildings and vice versa.
Depending on when you go there could be a Tenn Titan game, or a hockey game. Take in the Grand Ole Opry. Walk around downtown. Walk up and down Music Row.
Fine places that have writer's night and you will hear some great songs. There was this one place out near the mall. Great Italian food. I'd go eat and listen to these amazing songs that are now popular on the radio.

When I went to N'ville a couple of years ago we stayed in the Sheraton downtown. Nice room, and decent view (we were on teh 20th floor).
We took a day trip to the Jack Daniel's Distillery in Lynchburg (very fun!), spent an afternoon at the Parthenon, went to the Opry (they were back at the Rhyman when we were there) and visited the Hermitage - Andrew Jackson's home. The Wildhorse Saloon was fun, but I'm not much of a dancer so we didn't stay long. The Country Music Hall of Fame was interesting too, but it takes a long time to go through. There are always tours of the stars' homes, but we didn't get into that. There are so many other fun things to do that I didn't bother with star stalking! ;)
