DH has an interview tomorrow for a legal internship I don't know which suit he should wear. I will post them :)
Pinstriped and blue

Gray with striped shirt

Or would it be better for him to wear a white shirt?
Just looking for opinions, I'm not good at suits... I'm incredibly inept :)
And interviews are not my thing :)
So let me know :)
Thanks Ladies!

I like the dark jacket with the blue shirt. I don't know if I'm crazy about the tie though... :)

Legal internship? Like at a law firm or with a judge? If so, I'd say neither is appropriate and he should wear a white or off-white shirt. Neither look is conservative enough.
I also asked my DH (attorney) and his immediate response to both was, "No." He said, "at the most, he could maybe wear a really light blue shirt, but I wouldn't even do that."

Another vote for the pinstripe/blue.

That was my thought as well. White shirt, burgandy tie (and if that's not an option, the first tie over the 2nd).

Karlatta - that is part of my concern. So you say white or offwhite... what about tie... patterned or no? and should he go for the black pinstripe or the gray?
The internship is for the department of Children's services.
Thank you for telling me!

we were wondering the same thing, but most of his dress shirts are between houses, so I may have to run to the store

The black pinstripe - it's more conservative.
As for the tie, I actually prefer a pattern, but I like it to be a little more subtle than the first tie you posted. I think DH usually wears a diagonally striped tie (mostly red with a couple of thin diagonal stripes) or a tie with very small square shaped dots when he's in "interview" wear.

Thank Goodness!
We both come from blue collar families, and to be honest the only lawyers I've even met are the ones I've met at the different events, It makes me feel really dumb and out of it sometimes
I'm not too keen on the red tie. That outfit looks to me too wintery. I like suit #1, tie#1 and a white shirt. Tie #1 seems more young, which I am assuming DH is. He is still dressed appropriately for both his age & the position. I also think suit #2, tie #1 & a white shirt would be okay--I assume the gray suit is more lightweight for summer, but it looks a tad bit too big.
Good luck to your DH!

There is no reason to feel dumb! How would you know?
I agree that picture #3 is much better. He'll get to see how the lawyers at his firm dress (many are now business casual, except for client meetings & court) and can learn from that for office attire. For early interviews, dark grey suits, white shirts, and good quality burgandy/dark red ties with a subtle pattern are safe.

The gray suit is too big, he has lost about 20 lbs since he got it, but since we are low on money we haven't been able to get a new one... or that one altered... and I'm far from handy with a needle.
I also wondered about that tie (it randomly feels like taffeta but says silk perhaps a bad dry clean?) I have weird reasons for not liking things
so now I change the rules of the survey.... :)
which tie red or gray with little blue dots (first pic)?

My two cents: white shirt, striped suit and the first tie posted (the gray patterened).
Wish your DH good luck and sure hope he gets the position!

I'm torn on the tie. I like the idea of a red tie, but that one just isn't meshing well with the suit for me. And the gray tie is a bit busy. I don't think wearing either would be a mistake, but I don't love one more than the other enough to choose.

I like the white shirt, but somehow I think the tie doesn't really work. Does he have another tie he could wear?

ok, I've got his ties together and took a picture... I love that you all are dressing my husband by the way, otherwise we'd really be hopeless. I'm thinking maybe green..... it is brighter in person though

I still like the gray patterned one best (from pic #1). I think the green will be too busy, but if you say it's also brighter, I would hesitate on that.

I like the white shirt with the dark suit-- very professional.
I do agree about the red tie-- it seems a bit holiday-ish. Maybe the yellow/beige colored one-- to be more subtle. My DH worked for years at IBM when it was dark suits/white shirts only, so it was like a uniform of sorts!
Good luck to your DH!

I'd also go with the yellowish one, the other ones look a little bit too shiny IMHO. Good luck!

I would lose the buttondown shirt. Definitely does not lend itself to a polished look like the straight collar does.

Update, he wore the dark suit the white shirt(with the buttons b/c that was the only light shirt he has here at school) and the grey tie. He feels like it went well, so I'll update that later
Thanks for helpin me out!
