..., especially salesmen, think that it's okay to act like an IDIOT when you're at a conference?

We're currently at our annual sales mgmt conference where there are about 120 total people and only 8 of us are women.

So, guess the theme....it's all drinking, hanging and honestly trying to sleep with all of us and other women here at the resort.

Ugghh, married men a few days away from their wives act like they're 21 again. I HATE this part of my job.

So, it's 9:30pm here and I'm on CC! Had dinner, mingled and feel like I'm done for the night. Yeah, the strip club is on the agenda for most!

I knew a guy who did that same thing including drinking until he puked (married with 2 kids) and the issue was a very controlling wife. I think for some guys they get a rare chance at freedom and they go buck wild.

Good ol' testosterone! Some guys I work with (who are married or otherwise taken) gawk at other women all the time. It makes me kinda sick. Like seriously, control yourself!

Haha - I have no idea, but it is so true. I used to work in the event production business (mostly tradeshows) and it was like that at every event. My boss (who attended probably 20 conventions a year) was just like that. Part of it was his personality - he was successful because he was buddy-buddy with everyone.

Heh. I just did a golf tournament yesterday and it's the same-ol-same-ol there too. Married guys, taken guys, whatever...they hit on the women. We were raising funds so as long as the $5 bills were being passed, I didn't much care. It gets kinda lame hearing the same lines from over 100 men, but whatever, I don't take it personally and it's not like most of them would act on whatever they were spewing out.

I'm an attorney so we don't have those conferences like you corporate America people do, but my husband's company just had his, and one of the men got FIRED for getting to drunk and uncontrollable!

Sounds to me like she had a reason to be controlling. Who drinks until he pukes? Real mature, that one.

Yup. That's what happens at my company too - well, only if you're an associate and possibly a manager. If you're a director or partner, you can skate a bit.

Most of the guys I work with don't do that though. They're techies and very committed to their wives.

Me too... but it's bc of this...

he was successful because he was buddy-buddy with everyone.
The networking is super important and will make or break a deal in my industry.
