Sorry, I know this is a stupid question, but how many stamps would you put on a manila folder? It's not heavy, just a few pieces of paper. I checked the USPS website and it says 80 cents, but for some reason I'm hesitant to believe that. Does that seem right? TIA

That could be right. Yesterday I mailed one of those puffy letter-sized mailers with three CDs in it for $1.40. If it's just papers, it won't be near as heavy. You might put three stamps on just to be on the safe side, but I doubt it would be any more than that. I always figure an over estimated stamp is worth saving my time going into the post office!

First class postage for a flat (manila-sized) mailing weighing less than one ounce is $.80. Weighing less than two ounces is $.97. (I just checked our mailing guidelines).
To be safe, I'd probably put enough postage on to cover the two ounce rate. The PO only cares if you're under postage, not if you're over. :)

Thanks guys! :)
The price is based on not just the weight, but the dimensions of the envelope. I bet the USPS' own website got it right. ;)
