LONDON Coldplay have bowed to the trend for file-sharing by announcing that their new single will be given away today as a free download.
Violet Hill, the first single from their fourth album, Viva La Vida, will be made available on the band's website from 12.15pm. <UK Time>
The group have also announced that some tickets for their concerts at Brixton Academy and Madison Square Garden will be free. The gesture is not entirely altruistic because the band has moved forward the album's release to June 12 to reduce the chances of piracy between the UK and overseas.
