View Full Version : Trench Coat
I need a new trench style coat for work. Something knee length, and I am thinking black or gold. I really like the burberry tissue trench, but I'm looking for something that isn't $1,000 ;)
Anyone seen anything nice this spring?

I have a nice trench coat from Banana Republic. Mine is khaki, but I really like the quality for the price. (But I have like 4 trench coats, so I don't see it as an 'investment' piece, like Burberry.)

Have you checked Overstock.com?
They have a pretty large selection in really reasonable price ranges.
I didn't check overstock - good idea and I will look. Re: banana, I went yesterday, but they didn't have any at the my neighborhood NYC store.
I'll have the chance to hit some department stores in NJ tomorrow or even some outlets in FL this weekend. Any more suggestions???

Oooh those are nice.
I got my trench from Macy's. It's INC. I can't seem to find a pic online. I wore it all over Italy and it held up spectacularly - even after spilling the greasy sauce from some Chinese takeout (bright red orange oily sauce) all over the front of it. Club soda and baby wipes got it nearly all out. It's practically unnoticeable - I plan to take it to the cleaners to get the rest of the stain out.

DH got me this one from Boden for my birthday about a month ago and I love it because it goes really well with all my work clothes! I've gotten so many compliments on it :)

I think this one from J Crew is cute, it also comes in "dune" which isn't quite Khaki, more light gray than anything. It's only $198 too.

I have a Burberry (at least 20 years old at this point) which I still wear pretty much most of the fall and winter and a generic black one that I think I have literally worn out. The black one was a purchase of desperation - long story - and I paid very little for it thinking that I would never wear it again after. Little did I know. I think it was London Fog on one of those super clearance racks. While at opposite ends of the pricing spectrum, both coats were fantastic buys.

Love that coat. Strangely enough I saw someone wearing it today as I was leaving my office. You weren't in midtown at 6PM were you? :D
I've liked Kenneth Cole trenches in the past for a classic, cheap option.

Thank you!
That might actually have been me! I was in midtown at exactly 6 pm because I went to meet my husband before a concert we were going to at the WAMU theater! I was walking down 40th street heading towards 8th Ave.
It would be so funny if that was me that you saw!:D

Unless you were also in the Time Inc building, it was another girl. Obviously she copied your good taste.
