Hey ladies -
I am going to Chicago next week on a business trip and have never been there before. Do you have suggestions on the must see places. Also is Oprah's studio close to downtown, wonder if there is a store....
Thanks for any and all recommendations.

Another Chicago resident...
Oprah's studio is not far from the Loop and I believe there is a newly opened store there.
If it's a clear day, head to the top of the John Hancock tower (I prefer it to the Sears Tower) for a gorgeus lakeside view. Navy Pier is fun. Highly recommend the Wendella Boat Tours that depart from the north side of the river at Michigan Avenue. Can't beat our museums -- The Art Institute of Chicago, The Chicago History Museum, Field Museum, Museum of Science and Industry!
And don't miss Grant and Millenium Parks. Gorgeous on a sunny day!

Thank you for your quick response. If I am staying the Marriott Downtown Miracle Mile is that a good location to sight see. What is the Loop? With respect to the Wendalla River tours is the Chicago River Architecture Tour the one to take?
Getting excited about my trip - what is the weather like this time of year?

Bastille - The Loop is the downtown area. I think that tour is the one that goes out to the lake but I'm not positive.
As for our weather, it's been iffy as of late. The other day it was sunny and 75, yesterday it was 65 and rainy, today it's supposed to be 58 and sunny. I'd bring a jacket just in case!

If you had a choice of areas to live in Chicago where would that be?
Especially curious if you have small children and or large dogs.
Would you buy or rent?

We are now house hunting in West Ridge. It's an older more established neighborhood, lots of single family homes, decent schools, low crime, and not as congested as other neighborhoods.
If you're renting then there are a many many of neighborhoods. It will depend on what you want.

Just seeing if anyone is still around in this thread. There may be a move to southern Illinois in my future. :)
