Tried searching online about this, but came up empty.
Today, DH mentioned to me that DD (just turned 3) has some hair on her legs now. I looked (and I had to look pretty hard), but he's right- she has just a little hair on her legs. I was surprised, since I didn't think this would appear for many years. Is this normal?

My little sister had hair on her legs at about that age. She was in Kindergarten when she first grabbed my razor from the bathtub ledge and tried to take care of it herself (I was - well, still am - 10 years older).
So yes, my baby sis was pretty *fluffy* very early in life, and it didn't help that she has fair peachy skin and dark hair.
She definitely started shaving earlier than I did (but as the oldest, my mom denied me for YEARS). I'd say she started shaving in earnest at 10 or 11. And she did NOT go through puberty early or get her first period early. She's barely 5 feet tall even now!

ITA, my 4.5 y.o. has recently sprouted some fuzz. We eat hormone-free foods and very little soy so I'm assuming it's natural and not any sort of early-onset of puberty type issue.

When I've done VBS many/most of the little girls had leg hair. I remember being shocked the first time I noticed it because I would have thought it was mainly for older elementary/junior high age. I think it is totally normal.
DS has a little peach fuzz on his legs, and he's just 3. I think DD will too soon.
I remember having some hair for years before I got into the vanity/peer pressure/social acceptance arena of wanting to remove it.
In short, having the hair at a young age is totally normal. Wanting to take it off...that's usually at the pre-teen stage!:)

My son has "peach fuzz" type of hair on his legs and has since he was about 18 months. I absolutely think it is normal.

Thanks! I wasn't sure- I don't remember when I got leg hair. I was mostly surprised because it's dark, but after all, she's a dark-haired kid.

catmom I'm of Italian descent, I've had a mustache from birth:o
I agree that it's probably normal, especially considering the dark hair. But you can always get it checked out if it makes you feel better.

My 18 month old has peach fuzz on her legs and has had for at least 6 months. It's blonde, you can only see it if you're actually looking for it, but I think it's totally normal. DH has said on occasions that he hopes DD isn't going to be a "hairy girl", but I'm not too worried!
Edited to add that she also eats organic, hormone free foods and I avoid plastic as much as possible.

My kids were born with hairy backs.. it's more noticeable with my 2yo because he's got dark hair! I don't feel that leg hair counts as "puberty-onset body hair" :)

It never occurred to me that kids shouldn't have leg hair...isn't that just part of being a mammal? :p I know my older son (almost 3) has it...I will have to pay attention to when my younger one gets it/if he has it already.
