I tried it for the second time ever this weekend, original with strawberry and mango.

I fail to see what the big deal is. Is there some magic combo of ingredients that make "God's Food" so to speak?

Please explain :)

I should add that I'm more of a gelato loving gal with a preference for pistachio at the moment.

Funny, I just had some pistachio gelato this afternoon, but still love Pinkberry.

It's the tanginess I like. Now, I only like the vanilla - tried coffee & green tea and not so much. Really great with raspberries. I also had it with pomegranate seeds this winter and yum.

I didn't think I'd like Pinkberry, because I'm a sugar fiend and the sweeter the better for me. However, the light tartness of Pinkberry is SO, SO good to me. I only like the original flavor, not the green tea, but it is very high on my list of most cravable foods. Thankfully it's low in calories!

Darn, now I'm wanting Pinkberry. :D

I saw one when I was in Westwood a couple of weeks ago and I wanted to try it to see what all the buzz was about, but we didn't end up stopping.

If it was actually real yogurt with live active cultures and good for you, I would be all about it. I like that they give you fresh-er fruit and not totally syrupy stuff. BUT the fact that it is just made with water and powder and just *tastes* like yogurt completely turns me off.

Never heard of it. Does it really only come in three flavors?

It's like soft serve. The variety comes in their selection of toppings - tons of fresh fruit & cereal choices.

I don't know why I'm on a pistachio kick right now, but I'm loving it!

I thought the tanginess of Pinkberry was ok, but I could eat a lemon sorbet and get a similar taste.

It looks like it, do people go crazy for it over there like they do for Pinkberry here?

I think it's completely personal preference. I think Pinkberry is NASTY. And I've tried all 3 flavors. The original flavor, to me, tastes like frozen sour cream with a tiny bit of sugar added to it. YUCK.

I think the big draw is that it is SO low calorie. I bet you anything that if it was high cal like ice cream, hardly anyone would like it. ;)

I don't get it either. When people were in those long ass lines I thought maybe there was something to it. But I think it's an LA thing and people just want to be on the hip and great thing even if it's ugly or tastes average.

I actually think it tastes good.;) I like that it's not super-creamy because it's more refreshing to me that way, and I think the original flavor is very tasty with kiwis and Cap'n Crunch. I went through something of an obsession with it last summer when it was really hot out, but I haven't wanted it for a long time which is good because at $4 a pop it was an expensive habit.

We have a similar chain in OC and I can't get enough of their plain tart flavor. It's very refreshing, and not sugary which is the big appeal for me.

I've never had real pinkberry.

Ditto everything you said except change LA to NYC :)

Perez Hilton had a blurb on Pinkberry today, said it is not at all good for you and there's a ton of crap in it.

There's 23 ingredients in a Pinkberry. Two of the 'sugars' used, fructose and maltodextrin, another are both laboratory-produced ingredients extracted from corn syrup. Then there's a bunch of stuff that sounds like items you'd find in a scary science lab, including five additives defined by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization as 'emulsifiers' (propylene glycol esters, lactoglycerides, sodium acid pyrophosphate, mono- and diglycerides).

Yeah, see...this is the part I really don't get. If it tasted all tangy like yogurt because it really was REAL yogurt and was actually a healthy snack, that would be one thing. To me, Pinkberry is like eating artificially flavored spinach product, without getting the nutrients of spinach. What's the point??

They have Pinkberrys in OC in case you want to try it! ;)

I think it's mostly hype too. It's ok but not fabulous. A couple of times I've had it they really skimped on the toppings too. I like the they are fresh and good but I literally counted like 8 raspberries on my pinkberry once. It's like $1 or $1.50 for 8 raspberries? Big Chill (on Westwood) is much better.

I like it. :)

The hysteria kind of reminds me of that B-movie where the latest "frozen treat" was really made of aliens that hatched out of people once they ate it. I can't remember the movie's name....does anyone remember it?

I haven't tried it, but reading the ingredient list, I'd rather just freeze my Fage.

Not Sol, but it's Greek yogurt. Very good. I like it with honey. :)

No clue. There is a sign downtown on a storefront that says "Coming Soon: YOGURBERRY" and I have no idea what that is. There is already a froyo place and a gelato place downtown, so we'll see when it opens I guess.

Back in the old days, when I was about 11 years old (1982)--they made frozen yogurt that tasted like actual tart yogurt that was frozen. Pinkberry reminds me of that.

Somewhere along the line, frozen yogurt began to taste like plain old soft-serve ice cream.

However, that said--I ate so damn much Pinkberry while I was pregnant, that I don't think I can ever eat it again.
