So DH and I were semi awake this morning when we heard this ticking that sounded like it came from our headboard, followed by our bed literally shaking for about 15 seconds of shaking....

I felt it too in Cincinnati!! I woke up and thought, "what the heck?" When I got up this morning I thought it was a dream until I received confirmation from the radio DJ!!

Exciting!

I felt it too! I'm just outside Chicago and it woke both DH and I up.. he said "oh, it's only a train" (we live a few blocks from a freight line) but I told him that I thought it was an earthquake (me, the born/raised/lives Midwestern girl to him, the guy that was born and raised mostly in southern CA). He says "oh yeah, maybe." The only thing that I can see as a result of this is that our patio table shifted about 6 inches (but the umbrella in the middle didn't move, so it just turned).

I talked to my SIL this morning (she's in Lexington KY) and she said it tossed things off their walls there.

It woke me up too! I thought it was my son tossing in bed, until my 10 year old came down stairs and asked why the house was shaking! Then I figured it out! Pretty cool! Last minor one we had here was about 5 or 6 years ago, but I was in Florida visiting family. "They" say the Midwest is due for a big one!

I am originally from Indianapolis. Do any other Hoosiers remember a prediction of the "big one" in the early 90's. A lot of kids in my high school stayed home on the day it was predicted!

I didn't feel it but my Boston Terrier was barking at it! We are just about 50 miles S. of Chi Town. Its so crazy to here how the people in the high building in Chicago felt it a lot, and the people on the bottom floor didn't! Pretty intresting!! :)

I think I felt it as well (Chicago). I remember waking up (can't recall the time though so thats why I am not sure if it was the quake) thinking the bed was vibrating. Thought it was my cell phone but it wasn't.

They reported it on our local news this morning (Cleveland) saying that people in our area even felt it - seems like it was felt pretty wide spread for being such a small quake (says the girl born and raised in Southern CA, I know for people back this way, that's a BIG quake, lol).

I felt it!

Hubby was in the shower and i thought my dog must have jumped up on the bed and was scratching because the bed was moving side to side. When i looked up and i was all alone i thought maybe my bed was possessed and i'd start levitating to the ceiling.

When that didn't happen i thought it must have been an earthquake, but that doesn't happen in Michigan.

So, in conclusion, i'm glad it was an earthquake because i had determined i was indeed insane.

DH and I were sound asleep, but my boss and another coworker both said they felt it at their houses. We're in eastern IA.

LOL, I'm from Indianapolis too...my neighbor convinced my mom to let us stay home from school that day, and we sat and baked cookies all day. It was awesome! Where did you go to high school?

My DD woke up screaming at about 4:30 when I went to check she was desperately trying to climb out of her crib. I brought her into bed and then I felt the earthquake.

At first I thought it was one of our noisy neighbors blasting their bass.

Gesh...with an aftershock like that, doesn't it make you wonder if this is starting something?? Kind of crazy. The earthquake was what 5.2, and this aftershock was what 4.5. Werid!!!!

I am in St. Louis and it woke us up. I just can't fathom an earthquake. They said on the news that someone called in and the couple took their infant into the basement. I can totally relate because the weather around here are floods and tornados. Not earthquakes.

I felt the aftershock too. My office is right under our 2nd floor conference room and it sounded like the underwriters were goofing off and walking hard. Then my computer shook and I looked at my Blues bobblehead and his head was shaking. I couldn't believe it was that big of an aftershock.

I guess there was another aftershock sometime after 1 a.m. that was felt here. I didn't really feel it, but then I usually wake up to go to the bathroom around 1. They said on the news there have been a total of 18 aftershocks.

(and yea for all the other Boilermakers!!!)

I traveled all the way from San Francisco to feel an earthquake in Indianapolis! Friday was the anniversary of the 1906 quake in SF too!
