Work situation, need help with.
I work at a small restaurant. My boss is very overbearing. He has been known to randomly go off on employees for no particular reason. He hires mostly females, not sure if it's because of lack of male applicants or because of personal preference. Rewind a few weeks. A former co-worker told me that the boss, D, slapped her on the butt. I didn't believe her because she has a tendency to exaggerate, but mostly because she continued to work there, and continued to have the same type of friendly/almost flirty attitude with him. I asked if she confronted him, and she said all she did was look at him, and said that he knew he'd done wrong. She'd say she didn't really want to work near him, but would still. A few weeks later, she up and quit, not coming in, citing several random reasons, including the incident, but most not making sense, and conflicting.
Today - we have several new workers, one with whom I exchanged numbers with. We'll call her L. Our sons have the same names, and are only a month apart. I left about 5-10 min before her today, leaving her alone with D. No more than 15 minutes after I'd left, I got a call from her. She was crying and said that D had slapped her butt, only moments after I'd walked out the door. She also said she was going to sue him for sexual harassment. She said that she had spoken with her lawyer, which I'm assuming is someone she knows, since it happened so fast, and was advised to tell someone else. I don't doubt what she said, but I am somewhat unsure of how to proceed. She does not know about the incident with the former co-worker, and I don't plan on saying anything because I don't really want to get involved, and it was hearsay anyways. I am extremely uneasy about going back there. I've been there over a year, and have never had any issues with him. That and he and DH know each other, and DH works in our building as well. I do not want to get pulled into the middle of this, and I have lost any and all respect for him. I do however need a job. How would you deal with this?
