I just got a nice cast iron pot - like a Dutch oven without legs - at a yard sale, but it's got a little bit of rust on the inside. How do you recondition cast iron, I know it can be done, but I've never done it. Do you just sand off the the rust and then re-season it?

Thanks!
I just wanted to be sure I wouldn't hurt it by sanding it.
Looks like they're pretty indestructible.

You don't need to sand out the rust. Just take extra virgin olive oil or another type of "Fat" and cure the iron. After every use, cure it by putting in a layer of fat and letting it rest inside.
I only bake with cast iron and come from a long line of southern women who only used cast iron as well!!!:D
