BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., April 5, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- Legendary actor, civil rights leader and political activist Charlton Heston passed away today, at the age of 84. He died at his home with Lydia, his wife of 64 years, at his side.

Whether or not you agree with his politics or not, no one can argue that the man was an icon.

What I found really interesting in the coverage was that his gun rights work was glossed over. Many focused on his first amendment work in the 60's. So maybe he just needed a few more years to move on from the second amendment to the third. Although I don't know which side of the peacetime quartering of soldiers he would have come down on.
