Curious...
How long did you use your Graco Infant Snug Ride Seat?
&
How long did you use the stroller?

Just wondering if it is worth buying the whole travel system or not in order to give advice to friends!

I did not have the whole Graco system. We had the snugride carseat and 3 bases - one for my car, DH's care and MIL's car. Then we used the Kolcraft Universal Carseat Carrier as the stroller even though we had a fullsize stroller (Eddie Bauer). The full size stroller was too bulky (took up too much room in my trunk)and the Carseat Carrier was small and convenient. I used the carseat until DD was about 6 months or so.

We only used the car seat until DS was a little less than 5 months. He was 20 lbs at that point.

I hated the big stroller, it was bulky, hard to fold... plus I had a c-section and wasn't supposed to be lifting anything that heavy. I bought a Snap-n-Go stroller frame for the car seat, and got much much more use out of that.

Now we use the big stroller (DS is 18 mos) -- but it stays in our shed and we only use it for walks in the park. We have an inexpensive umbrella stroller that lives in the car for trips to the mall.

We have the Graco Quattro Tour stroller and had a Snug Ride infant carseat (purchased seperately) that worked quite well as a travel system.

DD grew too long for the infant seat at 4 months, but we use the stroller quite a bit. We keep the infant seat in the car for when we go grocery shopping since DD is still not very stable when sitting up by herself yet. We just set the seat on the cart and we are good to go :) Very handy.

We have the Graco Metrolite travel system and we used the Snug Ride infant seat until DD was a little over 12 months old. She didn't reach the 20-pound mark until after she turned 1, so we got a lot of use out of the infant seat.

We also used the stroller from the beginning. I also had a c-section, but DD was a December baby so we didn't get out much for the first few months. By the time we were going out on a regularly basis, I had healed nicely and it wasn't a problem for me to lift or open the stroller. We're still using the stroller now that DD is 19 months old.

We have the MetroLite system, which I like, but DD is very tall (6.5 months and about 27" now) so we had to switch her to a convertible carseat pretty quickly. If I had to do it over (which I probably will in a few years! :D ) I would have gotten one of the Universal strollers (Snap n Go, etc.) and the SnugRide (two bases for each of our cars). We do still use the stroller part (without the car seat) and I find it very easy to use.

SaphirimalMei - great idea to keep the SnugRide still in the car for grocery shopping. DH just asked the other day when we went to the supermarket what we were going to do with her.... I took the stroller and he took the shopping cart. We never even thought to still bring in the carseat. Silly us! :)

DS is big - always was in 90th %tile or higher for height/weight, so he was out of his Snugride at 4 months.

We have the Metrolite travel system and I love it. DS HATED the Snugride... so if he was awake, it was nice to have the option to put him directly into the stroller. If he was asleep, I just snapped the Snugride into the stroller. He started sitting directly in the stroller at about 6 weeks. I am glad I didn't get a Snap N Go - I think it would've been a waste of money for us.

I'm using the travel system for our 2nd child now and it's held up really well. The stroller has taken a LOT of abuse and is still as good as new.
