Tacky 80's Drugstore Perfumes: Confess!

Before we get old and picky ;) , we aren't as discriminating when it comes to fragrances. Right? I know I'm not the only one who wore some of those drug store fragrances in the eighties...lol. If you've ever worn anything by Windsong or Prince Matchabelli or Faberge or Coty or Pierre Cardin or whoever else sells their fragrances in CVS and Eckerds, confess! :D

I loved the little roundish bottle with the gold foil naVy printed on it. And I loved the magazine ads with the gal always wearing white surrounded by lots of navy - sometime Navy men.

Every once in a while I'll take some time and sniff a few of the old school scents.

I also remember having some sort of "dusting poweder" in a Windsong scent.

I forgot about Avon. I used to love Pearls and Lace. My mom might even still have a bottle. She used to buy me those little roll-on perfumes. I also used to get the Kissable lip balms from Avon.

My friends would always wear some sort of lipgloss, I think by Maybelline. It was a very sticky, bubblegum something or other. I remember it was liquid in a little clear bottle also a "roll-on" sort of thing. I'm going to have to google it.

There was also a brand called Naturalistic and they had some perfumes. I liked the cool water one.

My sister still wears all the Elizabeth Taylor perfumes, and I wouldn't be shocked if she still had a bottle of Giorgio hidden somewhere. Love's Baby Soft was my first perfume, given to me as a bday gift by a girlfriend. okay...I wore Navy when I was like 13. When I was 14 I am pretty sure I wore Colors (Bennetton...which then was not a drug store perfume...now it is though) and Liz Claiborne. Gah, how I loved Liz Claiborne. It began my obsession with freesia.

I do have to say in my own defense, by junior year I wore Chanel 19 and Lauren Safari. So I did upgrade...eventually.

My first experiments with perfume were Jean Nate and (like everyone else) Love's Baby Soft. I wore some fake Obsession until a friend asked me if I had burned my hair with the hair dryer this morning because I smelled like burnt hair. Nice. I *loved* Colors de Bennetton until my bottle broke in the bottom of my book bag and all my textbooks smelled like it for the rest of the year. BLECH!

Someone mentioned Emeraude. My mom wore that when I was growing up, and it actually smelled great on her! She still wears it occasionally.

Not exactly a perfume per se, but it does have a distinctive scent. Anyone remember the good old Aqua Net Hairspray! Everyone in HS used it, and if you lit a match back then, we would probably have all blown up. Do they even still make it?

I cannot believe I'm the first to post this, but I used to wear Verve perfume in the purple bottle. All my friends had it too. We would also trade our "designer" Liz Claiborne perfumes as someone previously posted (the triangles with different colored caps). My fav was the Red one.

For the guys, it was Polo all the way. I can't stand the smell of it now. In the late 80's/early 90's it was Calvin Klein Obsession. I hate the smell of it because it was all I smelled for YEARS. Even now if I walk by some guy wearing it, I want to throw up. It's especially bad when you can SMELL it before actually seeing the person wearing it (i.e. 21 year old Navy guys going for a beer run and I smell him two aisles over). Ick!

Oh god! I think I had the whole set of Tinkerbell cosmetics...and yes, the pepto-pink nailpolish peeled off in one piece. You couldn't get that stuff to stay on for more than 5 minutes. And of course my dad used to annoy me by calling it all "Stinkerbell."
