I have the world's WORST dry skin. I hate when I actually find the time to shave my legs and no matter what body lotion I use, my legs still feel pricky from the dry skin. Unfortunately, I also have really sensitive skin, and I've received allergic reactions from Clinique, Kiehl's, etc.
What are your favorite (thick) body lotions? Preferably not too expensive either :)

Do you know what ingredient you are allergic to? I really like Kiehl's Creme de Corps, but you may be allergic to that. I have recently switched to L'Occitane Shea Butter Body Lotion, but it's not cheap. Or how about Bliss products? I used to use Jergens for drug store brand and it worked well for me (I just got tired of it).

I use Oil of Olay on my face & Lubriderm on my body. The Lubriderm absorbs really nicely & I think they have a "sensitive skin" verson...

My DS has super sensitive skin, and we use Whipped Shea Butter (http://www.kindheartedwomen.com/sheabutter.php) on him. I've also liked Shealoe Butter (http://www.kindheartedwomen.com/shealoebutter.php) by the same company.
Could your soap/shower gel be making things worse, too?

I use baby oil gel as soon as I get out of the shower before I dry off. Inexpensive and effective.

The lotion I use isn't incredibly thick but if you use it consistantly it works. I like the light smell and the feel of it after I apply...I hate a constant greasy feeling. It's Boscia's Whipped Body Creme and it's around $30, but it's worth it I think...even DH likes it which is saying something.

I use Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream on my hands year-round, but in the winter months I use it anywhere there's dryness: cheeks, feet, lips, etc. The bottle indicates it's for these areas as well as the hands. Dries into a non-sticky seal. Love it. Available at CVS, Target, etc., for about $4.

Laura - I have no idea. I purchased a big bottle of the Corriander lotion and had the worst reaction. I got a rash from head to toe and it itched like nothing I've ever experienced (with the exception of my pupps rash at the end of my pregnancy).
But then again, I've used the Bath and Body Works body butter and had no reaction. Maybe I should try that again?

When I have dry skin, especially from shaving, I use The Body Shop's massage oil after a shower. I put it on while still wet (sometimes while still in the shower so the water can rinse a little of it off) and allow it to be absorb by my skin - don't rub it dry. I have a thick terrycloth robe and I'll put that on, or wrap my towel around me, and let the wetness sorta get patted off by contact.
The best part is the massage oil is unscented and they'll scent it with whatever you like. My favorite is satsuma.
I also really like The Body Shop's Body Butter.

I love the L'Occitane Shea Butter ultra rich body cream. It's thick and really helps w/my dry winter skin.
I've also used (and love) The Perfect World by Origins. That has a scent though, so if you're not a scented lotion person, I would forego that.

I too am a Lubriderm user. I use the one for dry skin. Actually, I just started using the CVS brand of the same thing (found right next to Lubriderm) and it works really well.
I use Burt's Bees Vitamin E Bath & body oil. I always but it on after a bath and it's works wonders. I have notoriously dry feet made worse by constantly wearing flip-flops. :)
I also like Burt's bees milk and honey body lotion.

One of my favs is Origins Perfect World White Tea Body Moisturizer.
I use Oil of Olay Ultra Moisture Body Wash (http://www.olay.com/boutique/olaybodycleansing/products/os1017) to shave my legs with. I makes a HUGE difference for me.
I love Bliss Body Butter (http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P107307&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=4326) (The Naked version is unscented)
I am also using Ren Grapeseed Jojoba and Shea Butter Body Creme (http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P174639&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=5857) right now and like it as well, though it has a strong scent. Not unpleasant, but stronger than I would like.
Another Lubiderm lover and I have super sensitive skin too. I use the Lubiderm body lotion for dry, sensitive skin and no fragrance. Aveeno is pretty good too but I think it works better in the summer.
Also, make sure you just pat your skin lightly after taking a shower so it retains some of the moisture before putting on the your moisturizer. That might help too.
I also like Eucerin but it can feel a little greasy. It's great on my dry hands though.
what kind of shaving cream are you using? That could be drying your legs out too. I use Aveeno sensitive skin shaving lotion and I make sure to first exfoliate them really well and put a ton of moisturizer on immediately after taking a shower.

I'm using the Dove ultimate body wash (the pink kind) which seems to be ultra emollient and rich. I've always had dry skin no matter what (as does my mom) so who knows. I usually try to blot a little bit before putting on the moisturizer (leaving some moisture to help it sink in). I'll pick up some lubriderm this weekend, and try it out. I used to use it in middle school I think so I don't think I'm allergic to it! Thanks and keep the advice coming!
Lilo - what do you use to exfoliate? Just a loofah type sponge, or do you use a specific product?
Right now I'm using Bliss hot salt body scrub and put that on one of those exfoliating mitts (you can buy them at CVS) but any 'ol body scrub will work. Or heck, you can make your own if you're ambitious just using olive oil and sugar (I'm too lazy. ;) ).
I swear by Cetaphil body cream. It's for dry and sensitive skin and it's unscented.

I've tried a ton of lotions...and I've always come back to Curel.

I use different brands of body wash, but usually those with shea butter in them. Those seem to leave my skin the softest. Right after I get out of the shower (before drying off), I'll slather my skin with Whipped Body Oil (Avon). I usually put on a robe or sweats and let my skin absorb the stuff, then wipe off the excess later when I get dressed. I used to use the gel baby oil but that is a bit to thick for me. Plus I found it sticky and I don't really like the smell.
Another thing you can try is the In-Shower Body Lotion (I can't remember right off hand who makes it). When my skin is seriously dry, I'll use that in the shower, rinse it off, then follow the procedure above after I get out of the shower.
I also keep lotion at my desk for my hands, and a little bottle by my bed so I can put some on my legs at night. Seems like my legs and hands get the driest, and the itching drives me crazy!
Hope you find something that works...dry skin sucks!

The only lotion that has ever really worked on my dry skin is Curel Original. It's amazing. Heals and moisturizes so fast, plus it's not greasy. Love it! Highly underrated.
