View Full Version : Thread Killers Anonymous - vol. 2

Does anyone else have this problem? The second I reply to any thread it signals the end of it. When I have a question and start a thread it gets like 9,000 views but no replies. I joined a group thread and literally no one has acknowlegded any of my posts - I'm starting to wonder is it me? I shower every day and brush my teeth so it's not an offensive oder that's keeping people away

I could have written this. I'm usually a lurker who only comes out to post once and a while.

now watch, there won't be any more posts after me :D

most of the time people don't respond to my posts in threads except for in journals. sometimes it feels like i am only amusing myself with my posts. :D

Me too! I just keep posting away though!! I figure I thought it witty, someone will surely agree...eventually.

I feel like this sometimes too. I've started a few threads and I've gotten a few replies but so many more views. The replies have I gotten have been quality though, so I guess thats what counts.

I'm guility of this too though. I don't reply to every post I view or follow many times someone will say what I wanted to say so I'm more the type to stay quiet.

In group thread I sometimes get overlooked but those can get so big and busy that's an easy thing to do. I'm not discouaged, but I do understand.

Now watch, I'll kill this one too :)

I feel this way, too. I am definitely a thread killer -- I think people think I'm grumpy or something

Aww...hub, you made me feel bad. If it makes you feel any better, I just responded. I know how you feel though. This has happened to me a couple of times. If it helps, it's nothing personal!

I am little nervous about posting in here, as I don't want to be the one who kills the thread-killers thread. But I too feel that way sometimes.

*tapping foot and waiting nervously to see if anyone else posts after me*

Don't worry, I'll be the one to kill the thread. I feel like that too quite often!

evagatesgreen2
08-04-2005, 11:37 AM
I won't let you kill it! ;) I feel like my posts are ignored a great deal, especially in a hot button issue thread, my posts get flattened by feistier members squabbling over it.

08-04-2005, 02:12 PM
Yup, I feel this way, too. I didn't post enough on The Other Board to really notice, but I've already killed a few threads over here, and I don't even post that often.

Probably since I wasn't very active on TOB, people don't know who I am and it doesn't matter as much to respond. I'll just keep telling myself that...

That's funny, I thought I was the only one who felt that way. That's why I don't start very many threads. My money's on this being the last post in this thread.

I don't get very many responses to my comments in group threads but I don't really expect them, it's hard for the original poster to acknowledge everyone who responded and unless someone is going to quote you and say ITA or LMFAO there's not much reason for it. I don't really take it to heart.

No you didn't, Isign! That will be my job. I feel like I kill threads all the time -- partly because I'm often late in jumping into the fray. Well, at least I hope that's it. Sometimes I worry that people think I'm a total bee-yotch, though.

No thread killers here!
Here I am!!! I'm notorious for killing threads. Hell, I even killed the "cancer support" thread!!!

I was telling my honey that I'm not long for these message boards. I'm too sensitive when people don't reply. As far as my "journal" (i call it that because it says so in the title) goes, I blame neglect on my part.

Oh no, PookiePrincess! Let me be the one to kill this thread. I am the ultimate thread killer. I posted a question in a thread, and it's gone unanswered for several weeks. :( Now, I'm wondering if it was a stupid question. Oh well! If there weren't thread killers like me in the world, threads would go on and on forever. Then, they'd be too long to read.

Okay, so now that I am here the thread can officially die! I probably have killed every single thread that I have started. I think that my journal is even on its last legs. Add me to the list....although I really feel completely ignored most of the time when I post. It was the same way on the other boards. I feel like we are all at some big board room table and everyone is chatting and talking and I try piping in and everyone just keeps on going with their stories.

Now that I'm reading this I'm starting to feel as though I'm now being overly senistive and paranoid....hummm....

You're so not overly sensitive or paranoid. I think alot of people feel this way, especially if you're not one of most strident posters (to put it nicely).

I've felt more acknowledged here than wc, probably because I've begun to start a lot of discussion-type threads that have seemed to catch on. Something will pop into my head on the way to work (hmmm, I wonder what other people's commutes are like...) and I'll start a thread about it.

The one place I've always felt kind of ignored are wedding-type threads. I'll post pictures, share my song list, talk about what we did, and no one seems to say anything. Which is weird, because I've had a bunch of people on CC tell me they recognize my wedding pictures from WC and liked them, which is so flattering, but I always wonder why they never posted back then. :)

Ok, I apparently killed 2 threads in chitchat yesterday. Are we supposed to be keeping score? I think we often agree with each other but don't take the time to call each other by name. Maybe we should try alittle harder to use poster's names. It would build some intimacy in the community. I think the ones that do that have been linked up for a long time.
Don't you agree evagatesgreen 2, Eli11, moma915, Vorian's Leronica, and kris 97? Ok,some of you have very long names...

hub1176
08-19-2005, 08:17 AM
mama915 I feel your pain! I went to the formula feeding thread to ask questions and not only was I not welcomed and it seems like all my posts have been virtually ignored - what really burns my butt is when another poster will post the same questions I had already posted and gets like 90 responses

kris97

I agree - Honestly though I've often thought that some people have wayyy to much time on their hands.... :)

Thanks ladies for the cheering me up! I think when the threads are regarding something personal (ie weddings, kids) I tend to take being ignored a bit personally even if they aren't doing it on purpose. But I know exactly what you mean about the most strident posters (to put it nicely) comment. I guess I was just bummed that day cuz I had posted a pic of my new baby girl and not one person said a thing about it. Yet someone else posts a pic of their baby and it's like "OMG so and so your baby is so cute" Oh well, I'll get over it ;) And hub I know what you mean about posting questions then no one answering but if someone else posts it, it gets 90 responses! That happened to me a lot over at the "other site". I guess it will get better...if not we can always come over here :)

Ok, I agree it was nicely put, so I would like an honest answer, do I post too much? I'm very addicted to this site.

And to Moma 915, I also didn't see the pix of your baby girl but if the kiddos in you avatar belong to you, they're cute. And no, I didn't think you were asking for compliments. And yes, I know telling you now isn't the same as if I had said so before you mentioned it. But it doesn't change the facts, does it?

hub1176

mama915 - I didn't realize you were a June mama!! You know I think when we moved from being just a June thread to combining with May mamas it just got so big and very easy to get lost in the shuffle - Plus they are a month ahead of us so I get a "been there done that" feeling when I have questions. But that could just be me.

I tried to kill this thread at the very beginning with no luck! Yay! I was curious to see how long it would go. Bravo ladies! :)

I was a bit miffed the other day because I finally posted some wedding pictures. I was so excited to finally have some to post and I've had like two visitors to my journal. I know it's not the most interesting journal. I wanted to get a bit more in depth, but my dad passed away last week, so I haven't felt like being very chatty.
