View Full Version : Hanging Mobile for Older Child

I don't know if 'mobile' is the right word...but I'm looking for something that would hang from the ceiling in a bedroom. At one time, I found a site that had children's mobiles, but now I can't find it!
Here's the thing...my now 4yo DD LOVED her fisher price 'stars' mobile when she was a baby. When she grew out of her crib we put it in the basement. She found it one day and was smitten all over again, she just loves the way it looks and the music it plays.
We can take care of the music with a CD, but I'd love to find some sort of hanging mobile/thing that can go in her bedroom. I think she'd get a kick out of it.
So if you know of anywhere that sells that sort of thing, please share! TIA!

What about a kite, maybe with a tail that's trimmed to be up out of reach? Ds has a superman kite over his bed, and he loves it. We just used a hook screw thing and put that into the ceiling to hang. easy peasy

This picture does not show it, but PBK has a butterfly mobile for older children's rooms using these butterflies:

They have the mobile in-store though, and it's cute. It's also listed on this page w/ the above pic:

DS has model airplanes/helicopters above his bed. We just found ones we likes and hung them with fishing line.
We'd like to get him a "moon in my room" too...I think Amazon has them. It is a giant light up moon (DS LOVES looking at the moon) that goes through the moon phases.

if you do an advanced search on google for mobiles and NOT the word crib, you should find some. There are lots out there, but they're pricey. I think I have a link in my email somewhere, but it's downstairs on the other computer. I'll see if I can find it later.
ETA - http://www.maukilo.com/ has a few

I searched on Google for decorative mobile and ceiling mobile and found this site:

ETA: what a cool site! I was just looking on there - the children's ones are cheap ($25) and very cool. I think I've seen that expectant mother one at my OBs office. Now I want a mobile for DDs room too... :p

Thanks for this. I tried to get the butterfly PBK one for DD and they were unable to fill my order. Off to browse the other sites!

What a great idea! DS's room needs "something." This could be perfect. :D

You could always make one together and hang pictures or crafts your child made off of wooden skewers that hang staggard. I don't know if that made any sense..
