I am looking for the perfect pencil skirt. I had one a few years ago (funny enough from Laura Ashley of all places! Are they still around?) that was perfect in every sense of the word. It was 100% wool, fully-lined, navy blue with just the right amount of stretch and hugged the body in all of the right places. I have no idea what happened to the skirt but I haven't been able to find a skirt like that since.

I recently bought one from Brooks Brothers that is great but I don't love it. It's 100% wool, fully-lined and flattering with a little stretch but it doesn't doesn't make me want to buy more in other colors.

I've heard good things about Club Monaco pencil skirts. Has anyone tried them? How is the quality and fit? Other brands to look at???? I'd really like something of great quality that will last through countless dry cleaning episodes and the years.

TIA! :)

I love pencil skirts. I'm wearing one today, actually. This one is fairly casual (thick cotton twill but unlined) and it's INC from Macy's last year. I do recommend Club Monaco in general for tailored pieces but don't think I've bought a pencil skirt there.

I've seen one from Banana Republic and another from J.Crew that look good (but I haven't tried them on yet).

thanks ladies. I have to check out J Crew more. I bought a few sweaters on sale recently and love them. Perfect for work and it doesn't break the bank.

I decided to keep the pencil skirt from brooks brothers and I actually bought this the other day, which I love and will wear for many years:

The back is so beautiful. It has four buttons at the slit and you can open two of them, let's say, to reveal an contrast lining of blue dots. So pretty. I highly recommend St. John pencil skirts for a timeless look that can look contemporary with a more modern blouse versus the matching jacket.
