I think of this as different than the "favorite things" (has that made it over yet?) This would cover something you just tried, and either hate it, like it, love it - but it's not quite a favorite just yet.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I just tried some BBW Blue Spa products (it was BOGO)

* Give Me Some Sugar body scrub - quite nice. It wasn't too greasy/oily (like my old Origins salt scrubs). I loved the scent - so sweet.
http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/images/products/capsule/tbs.island.give_me_some_sugar_body_scrub_capsule.j pg

* Better Lather than Never bubble bath/lather - super rich! I was able to do and entire HALF of my body - from toes to fingers with this stuff. Great aroma (very lemon verbana) and left me so soft. Can't wait to try it in the tub!

Here's mine, simple but it feels so good on a long day after a shower. Actually, I use it everyday! I slather it on at night and it puts me right to sleep.

I love St. Ives Eye and Face Stress Gel.

It's great if you've been crying or really overtired or whatever. It's cheap too like $3 at Target.

I love the Tresemme De-Frizzing Moisture Gel. I am stylistically (is that a word) challenged when it comes to my hair, but even I can apply this right. By the end of the day, my hair is always frizzy, but when I put this stuff in my hair, it's free of frizz for the whole day, and just naturally wavy. :)

Sexy Hair Concepts Big Sexy Hair (http://www.sexyhairconcepts.com/intro1_frameset.html)

I used Nioxin for over 2 years and it's a good shampoo & conditioner for thinning hair, but it didn't wow me. I recently tried Big Sexy Hair and *love it!* The shampoo is a clarifying shampoo, safe for every-day use even on processed or color-treated hair, but not recommended for overly-dry hair. The daily conditioner is a wash-out, which is good because it makes it easier to comb my hair, but it means I still have to use a nourishing conditioner every once in awhile. Considering how much cheaper it is than Nioxin, AND better, I'm in love.

These last two styling products are AMAZING. The Glossing Cream tube will probably last me forever b/c a little goes a long way. Best haircare products I have ever bought!

I always smell the Fekkai bottles at the store but since I have to gob conditioner on, it may not be the greatest financial decision!

Here is a product I am neutral on

http://www.prodhelp.com/images/listerinewhitening.jpg

I have only used it once
Before brushing, rinse full strength for 60 seconds with 15 ml (1/2 fluid oz. or 3 teaspoonfuls) morning and night. Do not swallow.

You use it before you brush. Since I haven't used it a whole lot I can't tell if its "working" but the actual "after taste" of hydro peroxide was a bit much for me.

If you have curly hair, I highly recommend Curls Rock by TIGI Catwalk -

http://a1468.g.akamai.net/f/1468/580/1d/pics.drugstore.com/prodimg/83565/200.jpg

It separates and defines curls, and it actually works (unlike every other curly hair product I have tried).

Also for fake tan I use the self-tanner from Just for Redheads (http://www.justforredheads.com)

I'm pretty pale with freckles, and this makes me nice and golden tan! :)

I liked the Curls Rock curling lotion (hubby got a full-sized sample last year at SxSW), but I have to say, I did NOT like their shampoo or leave-in conditioner.

In fact, I just added the remaining shampoo to my "mixed" soap jar for shaving my legs (and old pump that I fill up with whatever I have left lying around). I do like it for shaving. though :D

I didn't even know they had Curls Rock shampoo/conditioner! I have only used the lotion or whatever that is in the picture. Actually my stylist recommended the Curls Rock stuff but he said he DETESTS everything else in the Catwalk line (he gets a bit excited over products :) ).

I use TIGI Bedhead Moisture Maniac shampoo and conditioner - it's pretty good, but so expensive! Also it smells like pineapples and I hate pineapples. ;)

I have wavy hair and blow dry it and straighten or curl it everyday. My wavy's are more frizzy and cinky unless I try to do it curly. It is just to much work so I prefer it straight. I also highlight my hair. I use Halo shampoo and conditioner, which I love, makes my hair shiny and straighter. And I also use After Party by Bed Head.

Here's a weird one. I was in Rite-Aid and I needed lotion and was in a hurry, so I grabbed the first one I saw on sale. It was Suave Skin Firming lotion. I am raving because it has the NICEST smell for a cheap-brand lotion. It almost reminds me of Stella McCartney perfume--it has that soft, clean, fresh roses scent.

I was just getting online to ask about shampoos/conditioners! I'm so glad that this thread was started!

I too have used the catwalk curls rocks line. I don't have the amplifier but I used the shampoo/conditioner and the curl booster. I liked the shampoo/conditioner OK but I really like the Booster. It "rocks" (hahah).

My question is: why do all expensive shampoos smell so bad (i.e., weak fruit, etc.)? And if there is a good smelling, good working shampoo out there can somebody let me know??? I have yucky, frizzy hair and I'm always looking for a good recommendation to fix it (short of shaving my head, of course).

I guess I'm the first to give a negative review. I tried Pantene Anti-Frizz creme and didn't like it at all. A little bit wasn't enough to be effective, and more made my hair greasy and sticky. Not a fan.

I've tried the Pantene Curly shampoo and conditioner and I did NOT like it. This is now the second time I've tried Pantene since so many folks rave about it, but really, it just does NOT go with my head of hair. I look like a greaseball the next day and I'm scratching my head non-stop like I have horrible dandruff.

I think I've learned my lesson. No more for me thanks.

I received a free sample of Dove's Radiant Silk Invisible Solid deoderant/anti-perspirant a few months ago, & I really love it! It's effective as an anti-perspirant (for me anyway, but I don't sweat a lot generally) plus it made my underarms really soft & smooth. With my old deoderant my underarms often looked sort of red & irritated, but not anymore. Thumbs up!

I want to give props to the whole Philosophy line of products. The Purity Made Simple Cleanser is such a nice clean and, well, simple cleaner that I really love.

Another favorite of mine from Philosophy is the Amazing Grace Firming Body Emulsion. It smells wonderful and is a great lotion. I could easily be a Philosophy junkie!!!

Have you ever tried Biolage? I have always thought this was a very good, not too expensive, shampoo that smells great.

Stay away from Aveda. I swear they all stink! Some of the products work okay, but couldn't get over the smell. Their confixor works great, but smells like Old Spice on Steroids. And one of their shampoo lines smells like a prort-a-potty...

Thanks for the advice about the Catwalk curls line. I'll have to try it!

I've tried several of philosophy's products. I love everything they make with the "Amazing Grace" scent and the "real purity" facial cleanser. However the "hope in a jar" was very disappointing. I thought that it smelled kind of funny and I didn't think it worked at all.

I like the way Aveda smells. :o Their Rosemary Mint line is heavenly. I got some free samples at a hotel I stayed in and they were lovely. Maybe I would get tired of it day after day, but I don't think so.

Philosophy - I have a tiny bottle of "Be Somebody" lotion/body cream that I got when I was getting married (2 years ago). I keep it at work and I'm just not crazy about the way it smells. It smells cheap/medicinely almost.

Isn't that such a pretty fragrance? I think it is so clean and nice. The lotion is so nice on the skin, too. All of their combo shower cleansers and shampoos are great smelling and work well, too. I love these as stocking stuffers and last minutes Christmas gifts. The girls at work love them and say they would never buy them for themselves.

I love Elizabeth Arden's Blue Grass deodorant -- no white residue on my undergarments.

Also love EA Ceramide Advance Complex capsules. So wonderfully moisturizing.

And that Olay in-shower moisturizer -- genius! And it works! I feel silky all day!

It uses natural lanolin to condition instead of the synthetic silicone crap you'll find in just about all other conditioners (even the fancy-shmancy stuff). The reason to use lanolin? It doesn't gunk up your hair the way silicones do. It takes a week or two for your hair to get used to not relying on silicones for conditioning, but once you get past that, it's wonderful. My hair is so soft, and now if I do happen to go back to using a synthetic-based conditioner, my wet hair feels slimy and gross and once it dries it's blah and flat. The best part is that this product seriously smells like a vanilla milkshake and the scent does stick to your hair once it's dry. I know not everyone can deal with giving up silicones, but for those of us who can, American Cream is amazing!

My natural hair color is a medium brown. For years I went platinum blonde. Now I'm a honey color with blond high lites. I also have super baby fine hair. I have alot of hair, but it is soooo fine that it gets weighed down so easy. I need color protection, moisture, and body. This is the only thing that works for me.

Blistex Spa Effects:
This stuff is horrible. It rubs off after about 30 seconds and does not moisturize. Just plain bad.

same deal with blistex silk & shine (in the silver tube). and, it made my lips split and peel as well! awful!

Can anyone recommend a good face cream for really dry skin? I've been using Paula's Choice 2% Beta Hydroxy Acid face lotion but it's probably a bit too strong (used to be great for me but maybe my skin has changed since having my daughter...)

Preference would be for mid-priced stuff (ie no LaMer LOL!) and for something that doesn't feel majorly greasy.

Thanks!

I just got a Sephora Order yesterday, woohooooO!

I got some Philosophy Frozen Lemon Custard Shampoo/Shower Stuff and can just say YUM! It is fab. Thier stuff always works so well on my hair and smells so wonderful.

I also ordered Benefit Dandelion Blush. It smells wonderful and I love the pretty pink shade. Just enough to give a lovely pink glow.

A standby for me that I needed a refill on is Paula Dorf's tinited moisturizer in either Capri or Monaco. It has a clean fresh small and gives a little more cover than a moisturizer, but a little less than a base. It is perfect for me and something I am willing to shell out for every time.

I have super dry skin in the winter and finally dragged myself out to do something about it. In the summer I use the Clinique Dramatically different moisturizing lotion, but in the winter it doesn't cut the mustard. I picked up Pond's dry skin cream and love it! I can put my makeup on after and my skin doesn't look dry. I also notice that when using Pond's my skin isn't as dry after I wash it. I read in Redbook that water based moisturizers tend to dry so for really dry skin look for products that contain mineral oil, petrolatum, glycerin, etc. Basically products that contain oil. It has made such a huge difference.

JRPAGV

eli1126: Stuff with mineral oil doesn't make you break out? I have dry skin, so I need something. But, I also tend to break out easily. I've always heard that people should stay away from products containing oil b/c it will clog your pores and make you break out.

eli1126
03-18-2006, 08:26 AM
JRPAGV I was afraid of that as well, but Pond's claims it is:
hypoallergenic, suitable for sensitive skin,
won't clog pores, & dermatologist tested

I also make sure to wash my face each night with my
Clean & Clear Oil Free Foaming Facial Cleanser

That way the oil from the moisturizer isn't on my face all night. So far, I have been really pleased with the Pond's. My skin actually looks better than it has all winter. I also like that it's available at drugstores and cheaper than pricey Dept. store products.

I love this stuff:
http://blissworld.com/products/m/BLISS-212.jpg
Bliss Clog Dissolving Cleansing Milk

It's a smooth, gentle face cleanser that feels soooo nice and has a nice light smell sort of like orange or grapefruit. It contains exfolliating enzymes and antioxidants such as grapeseed extract. In addition to using it as a daily cleanser, you leave it on as a five minute mask. I first found it when I got a facial as Bliss Spa and I was looking for something to help me with some minor breakouts. It works. I literally haven't had any breakouts since I started using it. The only downside is that it is kind of expensive, though one bottle does go a long way.

I've heard that they are ok to use in jacuzzis, but if they are the kind of bombs with little bits (like Big Blue with the sea weed), stick it in a nylon stocking before you throw it in the water. That way the bits don't get out and damage the motor. But maybe you should also contact your jacuzzi manufacturer just to be sure. I wouldn't want you to damage your tub on my account.

The Lush.com forum, however, has a few threads on that topic, so maybe go look there for some more specific advice. :)

Another wonderous grouping of products from Lush (http://www.lush.com) are the body butters. They are solid bars, about 3" square, that are chock full of various butters and oils. They are made to melt at body temperature and moisturize while you're in the shower. Some of them are also exfoliating. You use them very last thing in the shower. Just turn off the water for a moment, rub the bar all over your body, and rinse lightly before getting out. Then pat dry and viola! You're all moisturized. No lotion needed!

They have different kinds for different needs:

BUFFY
http://images.northamerica.lush.com/zoom/2127.jpg
Exfoliating for normal to dry skin. This one is my favorite and a great place to start if you aren't sure which one is best for you. It leaves my whole body soooooo soft and moistuized. If you have oily skin, it might be a bit too much, but I love it!

SCHNUGGLE
http://images.northamerica.lush.com/zoom/2383.jpg
This is the bedtime body butter. It is not exfoliating, just smooth and wonderful. It dries with a powdery finish and smells of beautiful lavender. This one is VERY relaxing! I've even heard of some people using it as a lotion bar and not rinsing it off as you normally would with a body butter.

YOU SNAP THE WHIP
http://images.northamerica.lush.com/zoom/2169.jpg
YSTW has by FAR the best scent of the other butters...black currant! Mmmmm... And the scent lingers on your skin for ages. Unfortunately, the dark color makes it kind of messy and it isn't as moisturizing as Buffy. If your skin tends to be oilier than most, this would be the one you'd want to try.

Those three are the only ones I've tried. They also have King of Skin (non-exfoliating and extra-moisturizing for really dry skin), Aqua Mirabilis (lightly exfoliating...supposed to be a good one to try if Buffy is too abrasive for you), The Soft Touch (specially formulated for helping dry hands), and Running to the Embassy (minty and exfoliating for feet).

Oh, and a great tip if you do try one...cut it into 4 pieces and keep one at a time in your shower. It'll last longer and won't melt away so fast that way.

Aveda's Brilliant line. OMG I am in love with this smell. My hairstylist used this for my wedding hair. I could still smell it after a few washes. I use The Body Shops massage oil after I shave. After I turn off the water, squirt a little in my hand, rub it into my legs, and leyt air dry as I do my hair and face. It's the perfect thing to keep me from getting razor burn and moisturizes like a dream. Plus, I can have any scent I want added to it at the store.

http://www.thebodyshop.com/images/bathpc/products/lg_massage_oil.jpg

Durring the summer, I use one of the empty bottles from above and put in Avon's Skin So Soft original oil. (The original helps to keep bugs at bay.) I put it in the Body Shop's bottle because I can regulate how much comes out plus a smaller bottle is easier to deal with in the shower.

http://shop.avon.com/avonshop/assets/images/prod/PROD_1021200_LG.gif

I've been switching back and forth like this for years and have been veyr happy with the results. If I forget to oil up after shaving for a couple of times, I find my skin gets all dry and flaky plus I start getting razor burn a lot more. I like that there's an oil I can use in the summer to keep the bugs a little less fantatical to me cause I spend a lot of time in the garden and hate wearing bug spray.

I love LUSH products. I regularly use their deodorant and recently started using the body butters. Interesting... I would have thought that by dividing a large block into 4 smaller blocks, you increase the surface area-to-volume ratio, thus making it melt away more quickly...

Interesting... I would have thought that by dividing a large block into 4 smaller blocks, you increase the surface area-to-volume ratio, thus making it melt away more quickly...

Well, I always thought it helps because you keep 3/4 of the bar out of the steaming, warm, damp shower when you aren't using it. Also, the bar is made to melt on skin-contact and if you grab the whole bar and rub it all over, the whole thing will start to melt in your hand and get mushy. By portioning it out, instead of using it all at once, you can help ensure it lasts longer.

I keep hearing about LUSH products. Now I think I'm gonna have to give them a try. Any suggestions for a first timer?

Opinions on Lush products vary widely based on personal preferance as well as skin/hair type. But, there are some Lush basics that everyone seems to like. Butterball is their most basic bomb. It's sandalwood/vanilla-scented (a very neutral scent that works well with just about any other scents) and the bomb itself contains little bits of cocoa butter that melt with the bath water and leave you very moisturized. Make sure you take a very warm bath so the butters will melt! Definitely look over the soaps and choose one that appeals to you. My favorites are Gratuitous Violets and Alkmaar (honeysuckle & jasmine-scented), but one of their all-time best sellers is Honey I Washed the Kids, which is honey and toffee scented. My husband loves this soap. I'd say for your first time, pick one or two bombs, a bubble bar, a bar of soap, and maybe a shower gel (you can use the shower gels as shampoo too!) or one of the body butters (Buffy is great to try for a newbie) if you can get it home without it melting. :)

Yes, some of the Lush products are quite unique! Not at all like stuff you'd find in a typical bath & body company. That's one of the things I like so much about them!

As far as I know, there's never been a Lush at the MOA. Lush as a whole is only 11 or 12 years old and it started pretty small-scale in a town called Poole in England. There is, however, a thread on the Lush forum with Minnesota Lushies begging Lush to open a store in their area. :)

Has there ever been such an awesome all-around lipgloss in the history of the world? It has the perfect amount of color and shine, non-sticky, and makes my lips tingle so much with its ultra-mintyness! I thought Burt's Bee's lip shimmers were revolutionary until I found this stuff. And I need to fourth those lip glosses! They're FH's favorites because they don't give me sticky, messy lips, and he likes the taste, too. I love them because they feel great when you're wearing them (not at all like you've got lipgloss on!), I love how they tingle a little, and the colors are great, too! I have the "Tint No. 1136" one, which is supposedly the nude shade from the Bath & Body Works website. But to me, it's more of a rich mauve color. Like a dark pink. It's just a little bit darker and pinkier than my natural lip color and offers just a hint of color and glassy shine! I love it and would suggest that one for you to try.

I am going to try those lip glosses as well.

Another great product by Bath & Body Works is their "skin refining scrub" I am not sure if its still available because I can't find it on the website (I also purchased some at semi annual sales a long time ago) but I use it 2 times a week on my legs and arms and they feel incredible!

Re: Those lipglosses that I can't believe I forgot in my Raves

I got the tinted ones when they were buy 2, get one free. My reviews:

Tint 1139
http://bbw.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pBBW1-2276365dt.jpg
Great reddish brown color. I am very fair and have relatively big, pigmented lips. This is almost my natural color.

Tint 1138
http://bbw.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pBBW1-2276364dt.jpg
This is a pretty, cherry red. It does go on very sheer so it isn't scary. I think it is really cute for summer.

Tint 1137
http://bbw.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pBBW1-2276363dt.jpg
This one is pink and is actually lighter than my lip color. For me, it is almost clear. Just ok.

The first two really aren't terribly different. I wanted the nude one above, but they were out at my store  ;) They are really sheer so really I think most colors would work with most complections. Lipstick REALLY shows up on me, which is why I rarely wear any color on my lips, but this looks nice :)

When I got the first clear one I made a bunch of friends try it. And then I gave some away as Christmas presents.

Dislike:

John Frieda's Brilliant Brunette Shampoo/Conditioner. Yes, this brought out natural highlights in my hair but unfortunately it made my scalp very dry. I had little flakes after a month of use. I was disappointed because I truly loved the way my hair looked colorwise.

Loves:

I recently tried Neutrogena's Visibly Firm Daily Moisturizer. I have been using it for 2 weeks and I can notice a difference. My skin does in fact look more even and it is definitely smoother. Even my boyfriend noticed. It is supposed to lighten discoloration as well but that takes a few weeks for a noticeable difference.
http://www.neutrogena.com/images/Pd/Pd_00253_00_lg.jpg

I also love and have been using Pantene Smooth and Shine Anti Frizz Serum for a couple of years. They did make this in their Brunette line but I haven't found it recently. It keeps my hair very shiny and eliminates the majority of my flyaways.

Crest Whitestrips. I couldn't believe these actually work but they do. My only complaint is I have a hard time keeping the bottom strip in place for the full 30 minutes.

B&BW recently discontinued my favorite shampoo/conditoner, so I started using Garnier Nutrise because I had used it in the past and liked it. I have the same type of hair as you described, and I had the exact same problem. I only used it a few times, but each time my hair felt really greasy afterwards. It was so gross that I threw the stuff out. I'm using L'Oreal Vive right now, and I'm not too thrilled with it, either. I'm determined to use all of it, especially since I threw the Garnier stuff out.

Huge rave for Sofina UV Cut Milk Extract SPF 50 sunscreen and for La Roche Posay Derma-Pediatrics SPF 50+ ( lait ecran) sunscreen.

Sofina is a Japanese brand and only available in Asia or online.
http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/893/sofinauv50l2ak.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
This physical sunscreen absorbs really quickly, is not greasy at all( it dries matte), doesn't leave a "white cast" on my face and has not broken out my sensitive skin after 1 month of use. I have been alternating days of wearing both of these.

http://img236.imageshack.us/img236/295/15999710yr.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
The LRP Dermo-Peds SPF 50 is awesome and has meroxyl in it making it photostable. I tend to get sunspots on my face ( probably due to BC pills), and this is the best of the chemical suncreens I have tried. This has really high UVA/UVB protection, PPD 28 and IPD95, so this is what I use when I know I am going to be out in the sun a long time. It is the least greasy/oily of all the chemical sunscreens I have tried, doesn't leave a white cast, and hasn't irritated my sensitive skin. It is made for kids so that is probably why it is so gentle. My only gripe is that is does make my face a bit shiny, more so than with the Sofina, but a dusting of powder makes that go away. It does provides more protection because of the meroxyl than the Sofina.

This has to be one of the most over-rated products I've tried:

Smith's Rosebud Salve

http://a1468.g.akamai.net/f/1468/580/1d/pics.drugstore.com/prodimg/92191/200.jpg

It's $5.50 for a little tin, and it's basically Vaseline with a rose stink to it. It definitely does not live up to the hype, and it smells like old lady.

The best conditioner I've ever used is Neutrogena Triple Moisture Daily Deep Conditioner. I've been using a really harsh shampoo to strip my hair of some color (it was recently dyed too dark), and my hair is still the softest and shiniest it's ever been. This conditioner is really the best I've ever come across. I was expecting to have straw-like hair while using such a harsh shampoo, but with this conditioner, my hair really is silky and soft. I recommend it to anyone whose hair needs a moisture boost!

For $13.95, you get to choose between several hundred scents, including designer duplicates that you would typically be paying through the nose for. I chose their Waikiki fragrance, which is a mix of coconut and plumeria. I am IN LOVE with this scent! Perfect for summer! I've worn it everyday lately and have gotten several compliments. And it came in a really nice, pretty, glass bottle too. Their packaging is great! On Friday, I'm going to order a matching body lotion and body wash for scent-layering, along with a couple more perfumes for my best friend's birthday gift.

On top of the great products (especially the perfumes), their turn-around time is fantastic! My order was processed and ready to ship approximately 24 hours after I had placed the order. For a small-time bath etailer, that's amazing! I had my stuff in a few days. So if you love perfume, but don't want to pay the designer prices, I highly suggest trying B&I!

Thank you so much for posting this! I bought some perfume in Hawaii years and years ago and I loved it...but haven't found anything close to it. I'll check out that site and see what they have!

I did just buy Avon's Instant Vacation spray and it really is like being in the tropics. I also bought the IV After Tan Lotion. It's water based so it's not sticky when it's rubbed in, and evaporates pretty quickly. The smell is very light so I don't smell like I've marinated in tanning gel all day. :)

I was recently given a 30-day supply of this as a sample. It's a system intended to improve skin's clarity, texture and condition by reducing fine lines, discoloration, pore size and oil production; boosting collagen production; and by evening overall skin tone.

I used the final applications (it's a two-step system) today, and I didn't notice any improvement. It's not a bad product, necessarily--it didn't make my skin freak out at all--but it's not a good product, either. It didn't do what it was meant to do. It retails for $72. While I'd maybe spend $2 on it for the nice, tingly sensation, it certainly isn't worth the price! Just FYI.

ruledbymercury

The plumeria/coconut scent is Waikiki. They also have Lilioukalani, which I have also tried...that one is a lot heavier on the florals with just the barest hint of coconut. If you prefer tropical florals, it's a nice one and it layers well with Waikiki, but I like Waikiki better because it's a more even balance of the coconut and floral.

As for returns, I found this on their website:

Returns -
Due to the nature of our products, we do not offer refunds or exchanges. For sanitary reasons, bath and body products can not be resold.

However, if you have any specific questions about the fragrances, go ahead and email them. Nicole might be able to better describe to you what the scent might be like. Sometimes she can even add more or less of a particular note if it's something you love and want to play up or don't like and want to tone down. Also read the Scent Review section of the forum to get multiple perspectives on lots of the scents from the scent list. You can also get the scent sampler set. For $6.95, you get to pick 5 from approximately 30 of their most popular scents to try in little 1/2oz pots of lotion. They almost always include a couple extra samples as freebies with each order.

As if I haven't tooted the Nioxin horn enough, I'll do it one more time. I believe it's the only line that's been proven to make your thicker. It works by opening up the pores on your scalp and is made specifically for thin hair (so it doesn't weigh it down.) I used to have a client who was recovering from chemo, and this is what her dr. recommended to her to help her hair grow back in faster. FWIW they also have a formula for thick hair that is supposed to help your hair grow faster.

I'm sure this has been mentioned in here before, but I just bought SmashBox Photo Finish...

http://www.smashbox.com/images/site1/products/processed/72_zf.jpg

and I love it! I should have bought it years ago but other mattifying products I've bought haven't worked very well.

It even seems to be reducing the rosacea I have on my face! (I think this is partly due to me not using Neutrogena oil-free moisturizer before applying foundation.

RAVES:

Noxema Disposable Razors: Flexible head and a totally close shave. I am picky about razors and love these!

Sephora Triple Layer Cake Hair and Body Wash, $5: What a cheap thrill. Total yum in the shower. Not too sweet....

Stila Smudgepots Gel Eyeliner: Does. Not. Budge. Apply with a liner brush and it stayes put. All day. Seriously. I like it even better than Bobbi Brown.

Rave: Carol's Daughter eau de toilette in Mango Melange. This stuff smells incredible, lasts, and is affordable. I really want to get everything else in the scent now. I have allergies to a lot of perfumes, but I can actually wear this. I love it!

Raves!! Raves!!

I LOVE PUREOLOGY hair products! I have never found hair products/ shampoo/ conditioner/ treatments that is SO amazing and revolutionary. Other salon lines I've tried like Redken, Rusk, KMS, TIGI, Joico has never make a difference like Pureology. It's such A DRAMATIC difference that I can't believe this is my own hair!!!

I have been using Pureology Hydrate Shampoo & Conditioner. Along with Pure Volume Blow Dry Amplifier. It's 100% vegan, the shampoo has no sulfates, it's very...very gentle and the result is visible with just 1 use. It's rather pricy but it's worth every penny because it actually works.

http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i63/Fleamurti/pohydratecond2.jpg http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i63/Fleamurti/poblowdry2.jpg

I am Asian but I have thick, coarse, african-american hair. I got sick and tired of blow drying my hair that I decided to get my hair permanently relaxed with chemicals ( not Yuko system/ thermal reconditioning because I dislike the bone straight, limp hair look. I wanted the bouncy, natural, straight hair look) even though my hair dresser was against it cause my hair was so dry to begin with.

My hair was very dry, damaged, stiff and porous after the process that when it actually started breaking when I first wash it. I used my regular TIGI honey oatmeal shampoo-conditioner. It feels like stiff straws and I was freaking out. That is...until the miraculous Pureology! I was very dubious when my hairdresser recommended the line to me but I'm so glad that I tried it. I can actually run my fingers through my hair from my scalp to the ends after using the shampoo without a snarl! After using the conditioner, my hair feels incredibly silky, soft and elastic. This is the result I got just from just 1 use.

No more 45-60 minutes blow outs for me! I use the amplified volume before curling in the ends a little bit and it takes 10 minutes to do the whole hair. I can't believe it but I actually love my hair, love...love my new straightened hair with the help of Purelogy. I have hair that actually moves, I can shake my whole hair and each strand separates, it's full, shiny...bouncy...silky (the kind of hair that I wish I was born with!! :p )

Yes, I did! I love Sephora and I was so happy that the local one were selling the Carol's Daughter line (I don't think all of them do). The Mango Melange is definitely my favorite. It is sweet, but turns a little spicy after it dries. And I don't feel like it's overpowering, but the scent lingers a long time. For $25 for a 2 oz bottle, you can't beat it. I am in love! :D

The new Professionals Sleek line from Suave is awesome for franction of the price of other brands and look, feel and smell is better than the expensive brands. I have to say i couldnt be happier with my 4 dollars spent on sampoo, conditioner and styling creme.

My newest favorite shampoo and conditioner:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v432/rancid13/matrixbiolage.jpg
Matrix Biolage Color Care. I bought trial-sized shampoo/conditioner a couple weeks ago at Ulta for $5 and upon using it, fell head over heels for the scent and how it made my hair look/feel. I went back this weekend and got the huge containers of it that were on sale for $11 and $13, respectively. LOVE IT!!

My new favorite hair dryer:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v432/rancid13/t3tourmalinefeatherweight.jpg
The T3 Tourmaline Featherweight. I know several people who have this dryer, one of them is my BFF who let me borrow it one weekend when we went on a trip together. Fell in LOVE with it then, but couldn't justify spending over $50 on a hair dryer. DH bought it for me as a birthday gift over the weekend and I couldn't be happier with it. I have very long hair (falls a couple inches below my bra strap) and it's medium-thick. It took me 5 minutes to fully blow dry my hair this morning.

My new favorite lotion:
http://www.etbrowne.com/images/CBF-lotion_8.5-oz.jpg
Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula (I got one with a pump-top). We've been enduring an awful heatwave in SoCal for the last month, so I've been living in dry, air conditioned air when I'm keeping out of the heat and it's dried out my skin. This lotion helps me feel a LOT less dry when I use it upon getting out of the shower in the morning (and in the evening if I take a 2nd shower). It smells good too, reminds me of chocolate. :D

I've been using this for the last month or so as my daily facial moisturizer:
http://www.cetaphil.com/Images/Sections/Products/img_daily_facial.jpg
Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer w/SPF 15; not too expensive, and it moisturizes my face/neck SO well without feeling greasy or heavy. I love it so much that I'm going to run out soon, so I'll need to get some more.

Everything I've used by Carol's Daugther is Awesome!! I love it. I mainly use hair products for my dreadlocks, but I love the body creams and body butters. They just all smell so good and they make my skin feel super silky. Plus they are all natural.

The new Guerlain Maxi Lash Extreme Volume Mascara is fantastic. It takes two swipes and my eyelashes look thick and long and fantastic. No clumping, no flaking. And I lurve the elegent packaging. This one's a keeper!

Question about Smashbox Photo Finish... are you supposed to moisturizer on before you wear it?

nawsgirl

I don't know if you're supposed to or not, but I have. Although there is usually a good 10-15 mins between the two so the moisturizer has usually sunk in by then.

Rant--MD Skincare Alpha Beta Daily Face Peel

i got the md skincare moisture defense masque, and it didn't quite do it for me either. its supposed to be good for sensitive skin, but it just makes my face more red, and it doesn't seem to help any with adding moisture to my face either. though, my facial skin is quite sensitive so there are not many products that actually work on my face.

RAVE!!! Sebastian Double Body Thickefy Styler

http://www.sebastian-intl.com/pop_shots/BDStylerpop.jpg

Freakin awesome. My hair is normally very flat and lifeless as well as being quite fine. I haven't been able to wear it down for long periods of time in forever. I am in love with this stuff! My hair not only feels thicker and looks thicker but doesn't feel "weighted down" with product. They have a whole line but I am just using the styler and I am quite happy with it.

It would be nice to be able to dry my hair in 5 minutes!

Sephora, but I believe that Nordstroms is also a T3 products authorized dealer. DH won't tell me how much, as it was a bday gift to me, but I believe it was in the $150-range. My BFF got the same hairdryer from a reputable seller on Ebay for around $100 I believe. :)

That was my thinking exactly! I'd been wanting it for months but was unable to justify the cost until my bday in July when DH said I could get whatever gifts I wanted up to $XXX.XX...so that hairdryer was the first on my list. :D

Origins Incredible Spreadable Scrub
http://a248.e.akamai.net/www.origins.com/images/products/org_06LC_wide_lrg.jpg

No fuss. No muss. No mix. No blend. This incredible scrub is a body’s best friend. White and Brown Sugars buff roughness away while Dead Sea Salts brighten bodies that were once dull and gray. Olive Oil hydrates within to soften even the driest of skin. And spirits suddenly begin to rise as Mint and Rosemary energize.

I love this stuff. It makes my body feel sooooo smooth and very moisturized after I rinse off. It's really amazing!!

Another one with the salt rubs iin the shower. I love to use them after I shave. Yes, you get a BIT of a sting for a second, but it leaves my legs so smooth post-shave and I have no ingrown hairs. Perhaps TMI, but a bit of the salt rub in the bikini area after a shave reduces bumps and itching....

Many of the large department stores carry the Origins line. Also, some larger malls have Origins stores. You can probably go online to Origins (www.origins.com) to see where they carry it in your area or check the phonebook.

I think you're supposed to use scrubs as an exfoliant prior to shaving (or on "off" days) because the act of shaving can cause skin irritations to just-exfoliated skin (especially if you have sensitive skin). I tend to use the salt scrub on my upper body b/c my legs get all irritated and sting a bit if I use the scrub before or after shaving (I have very sensitive skin these days). :)

I love Cargo's blush in "The Big Easy"...it's a great, natural peachy pink color with a little shimmer. Works well on my fair skin tone. And I also really like NARS blush in "Deep Throat" (again, another peachy pink with some shimmer)...everyone always talks about their blush in "Orgasm", but I found it to be a little garrish on me.

I get most of my eyeshadows at MAC, but I have wanted to try Stila or NARS for eyeshadow as well. I know both of those brands (along with the Cargo) are carried by Sephora.

I read about Revlon Pinch Me Gel Blush in a magazine, so I bought it a month or 2 ago. I love this stuff! Once you massage it into your cheeks, it gives such a natural glow! The colors look very dark in the bottle, but don't let this scare you away - they go on very sheer and natural. I like the Playful Pink and Peach Afterglow colors (I have light to medium skin, light brown hair, blue eyes).

Dove Cream Oil Body Wash in Cherry Blossom & Almond scent. I got a sample of this and tried it this morning. Since I don't have a lot of time in the shower during the week I used it as shaving cream. FABULOUS! The scent is great, not overpowering but nice and I got the smoothest shave EVER! I have fairly dry skin so I can't wait to try this as a body wash as well. I love 2 in one products and even though this isn't marketed that way it definitely can do both.

The shoe inserts made by Foot Petals at Target (forget the name) are terrible. It's like not wearing anything at all. What a waste of $5.
