I was curious after seeing the post in 0-12 about larger hooded towel sources.

Do your 3+ year olds still use hooded towels? When did they stop using the hooded ones and move to a regular bath towel?

Heh, my 6 month old uses a regular bath towel. We don't have hooded towels around here. (Not that I have anything against them - we just never had them around, so we started with regular towels from the beginning.)

DD just outgrew the smaller hooded towels (she's 15 months old). I just switched to regular bathroom towerls. On her they are huge enough to cover her head and whole body.

Neither my DS nor my DD have ever used the hooded towels. Regular bath towels here.

My son is almost 3-1/2 and he uses a hooded towel that looks like a dog. He loves it.

He uses a regular towel sometimes, but usually his doggie towel. :D

I don't really care either way, so if he likes it, he can use it!

My DS is like SiValleySteph's - he has a doggie hooded towel which he loves - but if it's dirty he uses a normal bath towel. So he uses a normal bath towel most of the time.

FWIW, I think they're cute but don't see the need to keep buying extra towels when he can use ours... ALL of our hooded towels from birth have been gifts. I probably wouldn't have ever bought one myself.

I think that my kids used those hooded towels about 2 times for cute pictures when they were babies. We just don't have the room in our bathroom to store/hang them so they both use regular bath towels.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but how do they take up more room than regular bath towels?

Hmm, I just assumed they would need to hang on a hook like a robe - aren't they a funny shape with the hood and all? Can you just fold them over like a regular towel? Maybe I have the wrong picture in my head.

Oh, I fold mine (match up the seams) and then hang over the towel bar. :)

That's why I was wondering! :p

I haven't ever owned one :). I would really like to find a bathrobe for DD, though, but the only ones I can find are fleece, not terry.

At 3 1/2 yrs. DS still uses the 4 PBK ones I got him when he was around 1, he just really loves having the hood on and they are still in excellent condition.

I was just wondering if there is a period of time when kids "refuse" to use them or something. It sounds like it depends on what kids are used to.

I really like the ones we have (a PBK one and one from Kohls). She received another one for Christmas and I was trying to decide if I should exchange it for something else.

Personally I think they are fun. Certainly not "necessary" but fun for bathtime, at least for my almost 3 year old.

We like the poncho style ones for Noah. He's using ones now that he started using when he outgrew the baby towels, though they're getting a little short now. I think we'll need to move up to the lands end or pbk ones.

My kids are 2 and 5, and still use hooded bath towels. I don't think we buy them on purpose, but we have several (probably 3 each?), so they use those. They both love them.

Easton just uses a bath towel now he is almost 18 months. He outgrew the baby hooded ones, they are too short for him, now his sisters use them.

I still use the hooded PBK ones for my middle child who will be 3 and for my youngest child who is 6 months.

We use hooded and regular towels. I've actually been looking for larger hooded towels since Collin loves his "cape" after he gets out of the tub.;)

DS is 2.5 and I don't see giving them up any time soon. I like them because they are cute--and I find it easier to towel dry DS's hair when he is wearing one.
I prefer the poncho style, but those seem to be a bit harder to find.

my 5 1/2 year old and 3 year old still use them. .. The teeny ones have long been thrown away but the thicker bigger ones are still in the rotation.

My girls are 4.5 and 2 and they use hooded towels, but not the baby ones. I love them, it's so much easier to dry their hair and they can kind of wrap up in one and wait while I get the other one out of the tub, etc. They have a fish and a mermaid. They'll use regular towels sometimes but they (and I) really like the hooded best.

On the storage issue... we don't have a towel rack in their bathroom, only hooks so it's actually easier to hand the hooded towels than a regular bath towel.
