Starbucks is changing their menu options and closing some stores (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/31/business/31sbux.html?em&ex=1201928400&en=ad1efd392f6730bc&ei=5087%0A) as part of a reorganization plan. One of the changes in stores includes doing away with their breakfast sandwiches.
“In short, the scent of the warm sandwiches interferes with the coffee aroma in our stores,” said Howard D. Schultz, the company’s chairman and chief executive.
I have never actually ordered any of these sandwiches and won't miss them. However, we were hanging out with some friends last night who were saying that they love the sandwiches and are going to really miss them. What about you?

I had one once - it was gross...all they do is pop it in a microwave. And I think I paid 4-5 bucks for it.

Meh, it's convenient if you're in a hurry and are somewhere unfamiliar.
For instance, when we were in SoCal for a taping of The Price Is Right, there was a Starbucks near the studio, and we could just grab coffee and breakfast real quick without looking for a breakfast place. But no, I will not miss them.

I wont miss them since our Starbucks never sold them.

I didn't even know they sold sandwiches. Truthfully, for me, breakfast sandwiches don't really fit their "image"

No, I won't miss them. If I need to grab a bite at Starbucks, I always go for the scones.

I only go on Fridays due to restrictions on my budget and dealing with getting a toddler in and out of his carseat twice. I liked their breakfast sandwiches, and thought they were pretty reasonable ($2.75 or so). I will miss them, but their pastries are pretty good (FINALLY) so I guess I'll go back to eating those once a week.

Kind of. I have not been to starbucks in ages (boycott!) but they did have a really good mozerella basil sandwich.

I won't miss the sandwiches. I've never had them, and when people order them in front of me, it slows down the "flow" of the workers and lengthens the time between me and my precious cup of coffee.

I thought the sandwiches were mediocre, but it was nice to have the option. I hope they don't do away with the ovens, though, because a warmed up maple nut scone is delish!! :D

Oops--I voted before I read the first post! I didn't know it was about breakfast sandwiches (which I didn't even know they ever had), but thought it was about the regular sandwiches, which they keep in the cooler.
So my "other" should really be a "no" (I didn't know they had them; definitely won't miss them!)
I wouldn't miss the regular sandwiches now either since I usually just stop by when I'm out and about for a coffee and occassional sweet. But when I lived in NYC, I frequently got their sandwiches for lunch and I would have missed that a lot.

Oddly, I wasn't aware they had breakfast sandwiches, although I have eaten their lunch sandwiches several times. I wish I had known, because I crave protein in the morning and would much rather have an egg/cheese sandwich than a scone or muffin. That being said, I don't exactly frequent Starbucks in the morning (unless I'm traveling on business and can expense my breakfast, LOL).
I won't miss the breakfast ones since I never really knew of them, but I will miss it if the lunch sandwiches are taken away too. The tarragon chicken salad wasn't half bad. When I'm on the road, I sometimes duck into a Starbucks to use their wifi and get a sandwich if it's mealtime.

I had one once and it was pretty good. But I'm not surprised they're getting rid of them- I'm the only person I ever saw order one. I don't think they were much of a hit, at least around here.

if i get food at starbucks it's usually a dessert treat or a muffin. I've never got a sandwich *shrug*

no, I thought they were gross. I'd rather have a scone!

I've had 2 in the last 2 weeks. I actually chose an egg sandwich yesterday over the turkey and swiss in the case. It was a nice to have but not a need to have. I thought they were actually pretty good. I've tried them all (they always gave samples of new products at my old Starbucks and I always tried them all!).
They don't sell them at all the stores, so that may be why some of you didn't know they sold them...or maybe you never noticed ;)

I've only stepped foot in a SB 1 time and that was for hot cocoa, so no, I won't miss them.

Um, okay, I'm in the total minority here, but YES, I will miss the breakfast sandwiches! I'm so sad that they're getting rid of them!
When I travel for work and I need to grab something fast for breakfast, I have found that the Starbucks turkey bacon breakfast sandwich is by far the best option...I don't like to just get a muffin or a scone because with a 100% carb/sugar fest I will be hungry 5 minutes later, and I think it's way tastier than an Egg McMuffin (I don't eat ham). And they are actually competitively priced...the other day I got a grande drip and a breakfast sandwich for about $5, meaning the sandwich was about $3.25. I didn't think it was too outrageous.
Okay, commercial over.;) All this to say that I am sorry to see them go.
GOOD. The stink up the stores.

I missed that they were eliminating the *breakfast* sandwiches before I voted. I love their tarragon chicken salad sandwiches, but I'm guessing those will stay since they don't involve breakfast. I don't really care for their breakfast sandwiches, so no, I won't miss them.

I bought one sandwich from them and it was gross. Plus, it was like 6 bucks. So I won't miss them.

Well I liked them. Like a PP said they are cheap ~$2.95 and served all day long. Often they were my lunch. Oh well....

I never had the breakfast sandwiches, but I love their chicken salad sandwiches. I wonder if they will be going, too??

I liked the breakfast sandwiches, but not so much of a fan of the lunch sandwiches. I *did* like having the option!
Starbucks is also going to close 100 less profitable stores... are we actually reaching critical mass??? :D

Oops...I voted in the poll before reading the OP's initial post that specified this is regarding breakfast sandwiches. I voted "yes" because I like that Starbuck's has lunch sandwiches; not that I buy them often, but I like having the option. I've never had one of the breakfast sandwiches, though. *shrug*

“In short, the scent of the warm sandwiches interferes with the coffee aroma in our stores,” said Howard D. Schultz, the company’s chairman and chief executive.
Duh... I always wondered why they ignored this point.
I never had a sandwich. The pastries are decent, but I don't go to Sbux for sandwiches. Any more than I go to McDonald's for coffee. :)
I voted other.
Starbucks has sanwdwiches? lol. I don't drink coffee so I never frequent Starbucks.

I won't. I don't drink coffee either, so I never go into Starbucks, unless I buy a gift card.

Never tried the breakfast sandwiches, so I won't miss them. I'm guessing they're still keeping the cold sandwiches & wraps in the to-go case, though? I have tried those, and liked them.

I only tried Starbucks' breakfast sandwiches once, and that was on a trip to Japan. (Lame, I know, but we needed something quick.) The sandwich was decent, but not as good as the ones at Dunkin' Donuts. I never ordered another one, and I won't miss them.

I'm usually running late for work or something else when I stop at Starbucks in the morning, so I've never tried the sandwiches - too time consuming!

Nope. I rarely go to Starbucks, but when I do it is not for the food.

I never knew they sold sandwiches and I go there a few times a week.
So, I guess I won't be missing them.
Resident Barista here checking in... this is news to me, though I don't doubt it cause they are making some drastic changes. However, my store is just now ramping up to BEGIN serving breakfast sandwiches. I'll have to find out if all the preparations are for nothing. It's a regional thing... where I used to live, all the stores had them. We moved down here & none of the stores sold them, but now they are getting ready to.
All that said, I really enjoy the sandwiches. They are better than the fast food ones & a good option to all the sweets. As a barista, I won't be sad to see them go (or never start!) cause as a PP said, they really slow down the flow of things.

I thought they were a good idea as often I want a coffee AND breakfast (but not a pastry) but don't want to stop at two places. So, I have indulged twice and both times have been so disgusted by them that I was mad at myself for spending the $5 plus tax that they cost. I'm always disappointed by Starbucks sandwiches (breakfast or otherwise). They're always stale or soggy or both and they're really expensive! So no, I won't miss them, although I wish they had done a much better job with them and kept them.
I've had the turkey bacon breakfast sandwich a few times. It's pretty good. I don't go there often enough where I'll miss them but I think it's a nice idea to have them.
Are the regular (lunch) sandwiches going too?
Starbucks made sandwiches?

I LOVED the Egg Florintine sandwich. I would get it all the time...then my Starbucks stopped carrying them.
I bought one sandwich from them and it was gross. Plus, it was like 6 bucks. So I won't miss them.
Really? Cuz they were only like $2.50-$3 here. And that was cheaper than the other places around where I work, which is also the land of crappy fast food, so Starbucks breakfast sandwiches are great! The only other alternative that is cheaper is the corner deli, but they are soooooooo slooooooooooow.

I tried a breakfast sandwich once and it was super greasy (combo of the sausage patty and the cheddar cheese = oil-fest).
I prefer a croissant (warmed up!) myself :)
I used to LOVE their chocolate chip scones, but all of the locations around here don't have them anymore :(

I didn't even know they had any sandwiches, never mind breakfast ones. But we don't have many Starbucks around here and I don't drink coffee, so that explains it.

I am a huge fan of Starbucks, but have to say, do not like their sandwiches. I paid $7 for a moz and tomato on french bread, and it was stale, and not very flavorful at all.
I'll stick to the coffee drinks!

This is such a good move. I worked at Starbucks while they ventured out into breakfast sandwiches and I decided that I needed to find a new job when I went into a Subway and found the same toaster oven.
They aren't that good, you can't customize them and they take up too much time. I hated that thing because during a crazy morning rush in Seattle no less, every second counts.
I wonder if they will get rid of the toasters too? You gotta love when they toast your Chonga bagel or heat up a pumpkin scone! Not that I go there too often anymore anyways. The service and drinks just aren't as consistent as they used to be.

I looove the Eggs Florentine breakfast sandwich, so I'd be bummed if they got rid of it. Then again, it seems every time I find something I really like at Starbucks, they get rid of it. Reduced fat blueberry coffeecake, banana chocolate chip muffin, top pot double trouble doughnut...
Eh. It'll be good for my waistline.
