i'm here, too (though i was sure i had killed this thread...). my little dude turns 1 on sunday. he's still not walking, but is climbing everywhere and has bruises on his knees from crawling so aggressively on our hardwood floors.
hope everyone has a good weekend.

I'm here too...I am usually the thread killer, so I'm glad I'm not the only one, cherry! ;)
I can't believe how big our kiddos are getting - it is so strange! SIL has a 2 mo. old and I just don't remember that stage! :(

Benjamin started walking last night!!! He has taken a few steps here and there but last night he really started. He looks like a stumbling drunk. haha Its the CUTEST thing. I almost started crying I was so excited.

anyone still here? should we move on over to the toddler board?
I've been thinking the same thing - just wanted to let the August kiddos turn 1- can you believe we have toddlers? I can't!
Ellyn - I hear you on not remembering the 2 mo stage - I've been around some tiny kiddos, including one born the day before Seth's birthday - same weight as him- and I just can't remember him ever being that tiny!
Are any of the other TM's around and want to take responsibility for the thread? I can try and start a new one in the toddler forum tonight if everyone is ready - but I'm bad at the regular 'upkeep' (though there may not be much for toddlers). If anyone else wants to do it though, I am happy to hand over the reigns - I have some 'real' work I should be focusing on tonight anyway ...
Do we need to wait a little longer for August kiddos to turn 1? (can't believe it's already the end of the month!)
Should we start it with everyone that has posted in the last few months - leaving room for other July/August mommas to join the toddler thread if interested? (just seems like we have a lot of people listed that aren't around anymore :o)
Hope everyone is doing well - hard to believe that a year ago we had newborns and now we have toddlers!

I am a TM but I so don't have time to do it. I started teaching last week and don't even have time to keep my house clean(which I could be doing now! lol).
Our babies..ehh toddlers are so big. I can't believe it has been over a year.

anyone still here? should we move on over to the toddler board?
I check in every once in a while, but just busy with two kids (one with a broken leg at the moment...good times)!
Anyway, I was a TM but when a new thread was started under the "JulyMommy" login I didn't get the new passcode. If some body wants to PM the passcode I'll be more then happy to do some maintenance. In the mean time I did get a PM (along with the other TMs) about moving us or starting a new thread. I PMed her back and told her to just move us. When we reach the max thread count we can start a new thread.
Anyway....like I said it has been a while, I check in but don't always have the time to post. Charlie turned one on July 30th and I can't believe my baby is one already. He is doing well. He was only in the 5% at his WBV weighting at 19lbs. They are a little concerned about his weight, but I'm not too worried. He is healthy and eats more then his 3 year old brother. I'm trying to wean him, but he isn't giving up the nursing too easily. He will not drink milk, I have tried everything, soy milk, rice milk, organic...you name it we tried it. The only thing we haven't tried yet is toddler formula. But he has never had formula so I'm not sure if it will mess up his system if we try that. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! He is also fully capable of walking, but refuses to do it. And since my 3 year old broke his leg, I have two kids who don't walk. Makes for a good upper body workout for me!!
Anyway....Hope you all are doing well! Sorry I have been such a stranger lately!!

I am here, too.
no walking, lots of babbling. into everything, loves to climb
Tenny, have you tried a drop of vanilla extract in the milk... MIL told me to do that for thaniel, and he loved it. we only did it a few times when I knew he hadn't had any milk for a bit... plus we have kept giving him milk in a bottle instead of a sippy... we do give it to him but he prefers the bottle...something I will break later....

Ha! We have a climber too. Winona started walking last week and can stand in the middle of the room - but not quite confident to "take off" unless someone is right there.
She is a FISH in the bathtub. Her and her brother bathe together and they act like they are in a swimming pool - rolling around, splashing, putting their faces and heads under water. I'm so glad we don't have to deal with a fear of the water.

we had our 1-year ped visit today. his stats:
24 lbs
31 in.
head was 19in
let's see... the doctor said he's about the size of an 18-month old (which i found hard to believe) and that he's a little chunky, but it's nothing to worry about. DS already has 9 teeth, which apparently is a lot - the doc confirmed he's working on his one-year molars at the moment (which we knew, as he has woken up crying from his sleep a few times over the past couple of days). we delayed the MMR and the ped gave us a hard time about it. he told us a bottle was fine until 18 months.
and that was about it! i can't believe he's one. we had a fun party on saturday and then on sunday (his actual birthday) we just hung out as a family and did a short hike. DS actually took his first two steps on saturday before his party (!), but has only taken a step or two here and there since then. our group of friends (including 7 babies and toddlers) is spending this weekend together in lake tahoe, and i suspect after watching the other toddlers walk around we will have a walker on our hands by labor day ;)

This is Tenny....
I made some changes to the first page. Basically just cleaned it up a bit. I got rid of all of our ages since I figured we all have had birthdays since the last time it was updated. I also got rid of all stats except the newborn stats because most of them were never updated. I figured this will help to keep the maintenance on the thread down.
Also I know that some other people have joined and some have left since the last time the thread was updated. I really don't have the time to go back through all the pages and figure it out. So please post in RED the changes that need to be made. I will try my hardest to update it.
I have everything saved in a word doc so most likely will update that and then just update it all at one time.

Tenny Thank you so much for doing this!!
I cant even believe we are in the TODDLER section now. I almost got all teary-eyed.
BTW, Benjamin is walking full-time now!!!
eta--Is anyone's DC talking? And I mean really talking as in saying things or words clearly and meaning it. Benjamin only really says mam & Dada clearly. Everything else he sort of babbles. He follows directons and knows what things are when asked (like a specific toy or some body parts etc...) but he hasnt said anything.

08-28-2008, 12:19 PM
talking - nope. DS can say "dada" and "mama" and "nana", but even with those it's questionable as to whether he knows what they mean. he never stops chattering (especially when out in his stroller - it seems he's conversing with every flower and rock we pass by), but it's an unintelligble stream for us.

We definitely have a talker - she says lots of words (and means them) - fish, fan, dada/mama, bapa (for her grandpa - who is called bompa by the grandkids), nana (for grandma), baba (for her brother, Broderick), ball, boat, knows her animal sounds (moo, baa, woof), etc. But on the other hand, she has JUST started walking and standing up in the middle of the room. I would guess in a couple weeks she'll be running. :)

Talking - DD talks quite a bit. Almost more than my 2 year old. She's even put together a couple of two-word phrases - dog outside, another bite. It's pretty fun.

We have a few farm books that are those touch and feel ones with hair, etc. I go through it and say "cow - moooo" and just go over it all the time (she brings me the book quite a bit now). We also have the little people farm which helps. She knows the sounds and words to the "Oops, David" board book by David Shannon (mama, dog, oops, uh-oh, yum, etc.) That is definitely one of her favorites. She just really is interested. I know with my first (DS), he loved looking at books, but didn't hardly say boo until he turned 2...maybe even closer to 2.5yo. She is much more vocal, but not as focused on the motor skills like he was. She's crawling most of the time and just started walking more (maybe 25% of the time).

Talking Our list of real words is short, (Mama, Dada, hi, yeah/yes, and done) but they love to imitate sounds. They can do a few animal sounds and imitate us when we laugh or cough or sneeze, which is hilarious.

Natalie just starting walking in the last two weeks. It is really freeing, because we have so much more we can do with her now--even just walking around the neighborhood is a fun activity for her. And she can actually enjoy the park!
talking--nope, no real words yet. babbles, but nothing with meaning.

Some talking here but zero walking... he is not interested in any way shape or form. He says a few words - mama, dada, baby, hey (I am not sure is he is saying hi or trying to say his sisters name) mo (more) lots of car sounds and some babbling that he thinks that we should be understanding... heehe

THaniel has started walking. a few steps but crawling is still faster. He took his first steps on Sunday, Sept 1. I was so excited to screamed, scared him to make him lose his balance and fall. He is donig a great job. will take about 5 steps and then plop down. He is doing signs -star, fan, dog. kinda talks- wave bye and hi. we have a squealer... when he gets excited he makes a high pitched scream/squeal. so funny. in LUVE with his blanket... buries his head in it all the time... attached to it more than Harry.
I don't know his 1 year stats as my hubby went to the appt and didn't write it donw/forgot the sheet... I keep meaning to call the office to get them... better do that.
Love having a one year old in the house, the little things that Harry can do and Thaniel can't make me appreaciate the little things again... the joy of pushing a ball, watching hot air balloons, new foods... love it... omg, I am feeling the baby urge... must go now. ;)
Got Thaniel's stats from the doctor.
Born- 9 lbs, 5.4 oz, 21"
1 yr - 22 lbs, 8.5 oz, 30.15"

holy cow... no posts in a month!!! Everyone must be too busy chasing after their toddlers!!! I know I am.
I must say, I love this age way more than the newborn/infant stage. (well, besides DS1 having a fit about DS2 taking his toys). DS2 is soooo much fun. He is so happy and just too freakin' cute!
Not much new is going on. We are back in Egypt and getting readjusted to the right time zone. DS2 isn't really talking too much, but I feel he is further along in fine motor skills and understanding than DS1 was at this point. I know the talking will come. The longer we put off "no" the better. Cause when you are 1, "no" can mean anything!!!
I am hoping to get a costume for DS2 off craigslist. If it works out, he will be a turtle (if the outfit fits!) He is a big boy, weighing in around 30 lbs and is at least 30 inches tall (I should measure him!) He wears mostly 24 month stuff, but some 18 month. I know for pants he needs 24 month.
He was adorable in the his tux at my sister's wedding (as was DS1). But sadly, I only got like 3 pictures and barely even saw him, since I was too busy running around doing everything else under the sun. But we did survive!
Hope everyone else is doing well!

Yay! Posts!
We're trucking along here. DD is growing up so fast. It's so much different the second time around - probably because I'm so ridiculously busy.
DD is talking quite a bit. She has quite a few words. Her favorite right now is "Thank you." She says it all the time. And if DS forgets to say it when he should, she corrects him. It cracks me up! Oh, and twainny, we have "No" all the time. Even her MDO teachers have commented on how much she tells them "No." Sigh.
She's also walking and running and has finally mastered going down the stairs (the little stinker refuses to go down them crawling backward, so she had to get big enough that she could walk down while holding on to the banister). It's fun now that we're all big enough to walk to the park down the street - no strollers or babywearing! (Of course, it takes forever, but it's so fun to watch her toddle around that it's worth it.)
Anyway, we're having fun. I can't believe she's already 14 months old. She's the age older DS was when she was born, and that blows my mind. It still seems like she should be my little newborn.

It has been a crazy weekend. Nathaniel has been sick since Wednesday night with vomiting and diherrea. yuck. Then Harry got a touch of it. I am in the midst of a pretty big project and Dh had to take 1.5 days off work. WE finished construction on our loft and started moving the office stuff in. Then moved Harry into his new big boy room. a Cars theme. he loves it! Nathaniel is all by himself now. =(
Thaniel is walking all over. hates to fall over. is talking and repeating most phrases. says "up" and bye. We have been teaching him signs and he is reapeating them. Eat, drink, more. it tis great. need to practice a bit more. Still can't believe he is 14 months.
debating on when to start on #3... soon probably. I am thinking maybe pg by feb and baby due early Dec. or pg by may and due in Feb/march. We need to get Harry into a preschool. the thought of paying for 3 kids in daycare is heartstopping. we pay over 300 a week now (with a sibling discount). Plus, I am not getting any younger and with the complications I will have it would be best to get it over with... KWIM?

Liz - We're TTC #3 right now. If it doesn't work this month, we're putting it on the table and are going to try to adopt a Summer 2009 baby (via foster care). I'm excited to see Hannah as a big sister!

Hi I haven't had much time to post much. Lilli just woke up from napping. Idk how u do it w/ 2 children. I have Lilli and a dog and feel like I have my hands full. Work, play and clean that is my life! Lilli is a handful, she is kinda talking few words here and there, many I do not understand. "I see" "thank you" "bless you" "doggie" "yes" "eat" "shoes" signs milk and baby. She is walking very well, almost running. Climbs everything. Like Karlatta's DD she only does the stairs like the grown up's do - standing up right. She has figured out that goign up on hands and knees is a lot faster but will try to hold the banister instead. We moved to our new house in the beginning of August and are just starting to get settled in, we have a lots of projects going on though. My Dh and I are finally split shifting our work which stinks but we don't need to pay for day care which was killing our budget. I have been working mostly nights and all day on Monday (and weekends here and there if my brother in law is willing to watch DD when he's home from school) Dh has been working mornings. Like I said before it stinks but I hated leaving Lilli to go to work and its so much easier when it's with DH.

Well, our FET didn't work, so we're moving to adoption. But we moved our timetable up a whole bunch and are hoping (and ready!) for a baby at any time. :) DD is right now the age that DS was when she was born, so I feel like I can handle it.
DD is growing like a weed. It's crazy! Yesterday we went to the park, and she climbed to the top of the slide and slid down all by herself. You guys, this slide was taller than me! The child has no fear. She always has a black eye, or a goose-egg on her forehead, or giant scratches on her arms. It's almost embarrassing to take her out!

Congrats Karla! That is great news!
DD sounds a lot like yours...absolutely no fear - climbs up/into/under everything. Good thing DS likes to tattle on her now - he really looks out for her. :) She is talking like crazy and says "twi-tweet" for Trick-or-Treat. ;)
