Ever since DS started preschool, he says "boogers" and I HATE it!!! I told DH this, and he said, "well, what should he say?" Hmmm, good question. Is there some other term that can be used instead of "boogers"? I mean, as adults we don't say "boogers"? We just say "I need a tissue/Kleenex".

Any ideas?

not to many appealing options - snot, mucus? Given that kids use the term in school it is unlikely you will get him to stop I think, and if he knows it gets your goat you may hear it more often.

We say boogies... Ie... "I have a boogie." (Well, for DS anyway.) I don't know if it's much better.

Well, we say boogers, so I'm not much help. Occasionally, it's a "boogity".

I guess I will have to stick with "boogers" cause I hate "snot" even more. I'd prefer "I need a tissue" but that is asking a lot of a 3 yo

Could be worse - the 3 yo girl in my care says she has "snot"

Well, my kids call them "winners", thanks to DH who taught them that they are "picking winners" when their fingers are jammed up their noses. Nice huh?

LOL!

My nieces call them bats, as in "there are bats in the cave"

I think there was already a thread on this that I was subscribed to, but it seemed to have disappeared from my subscription list. Anyone else remember it?

I don't have a problem with "boogers", but my grandma does. I have a much younger brother and cousins and she insisted that they call them "bugs"...I don't know about you, but I would much rather have a booger up my nose than a bug!!!

I hate the word "boogies" too. In my house, we call it "nasal drainage". Seriously. I guess its the nurse in me. It's funny to hear my 2 yo say it, but "boogies" drives me crazy - although DS does use this word some times (I'm sure he learned it a school).

Yes, I totally remember this thread, lol.

We call them boogies or mookies (in Spanish it's mocos so this is a translation, for the most part). My mom used to call them movie tickets. That's a weird one!

That works at our house! But don't give up hope - our 3 yr DD is actually very good about saying "I need a tissue" - it can happen for you too!

I hate, HATE that word, and my 2 year old DD always says, "I need a tissue" when there's a "mucous issue" lol - so I think it's worth coaching your daughter with that phrase if you prefer it.

DD always jumps up and down saying, "Nose! Nose!" until we hand her a tissue.

My son just runs around screaming, "I NEED A RAG!" (We use hankies rather than Kleenex's when he has a cold because I got sick of picking tissues up from everywhere, but he insists on calling them rags). We don't use BOOGERS at all. DS has used this phrase for about a year now, so he learned it around, oh, 2 1/2?? So it shouldn't be horrible to teach your child to say "I need a tissue".
