McDonalds Question for anyone who's ever worked there.

I've always been curious why cheeseburgers, double cheeseburgers and big macs all have small diced up onions. And Quarter Pounders have huge onions? I'm not an onion person at all but for some reason I really like the diced up ones on the cheeseburgers/big mac. But the ones on the QP completely turn me off.

Anyone know why they have two separate onions?

Because they're the 'premium' burger (or were when they came out)? Probably put real onions on them to compete with the Whopper, which also has real onions.

Well I guess that make sense. Even though I'd have thought their Big Mac would be a premium burger too. Either way I'd much rather have the dehydrated ones :o

Well the Big Mac is old school, I think. I think the quarter pounder came out later, and the "fresh" onion was thus a 'premium' feature of the new burger - to compete w/ things like the whopper.

Funny story about these onions. I can't believe I am sharing this....When I was a child I hated onions. My Mom told me those onions were rice. I bought it and continued to eat them without giving it a second thought. Fast forward 12 years and I am at my first job at McD's. When I got the tour of the "store" and didn't see any rice. So I asked where they kept the rice. Seriously...it was dead silence. They told me none of their items had rice. I told them "yes...the hamburgers and cheeseburgers do" Oh I will never live that one down :D
