(Mods - If this needs to be moved to a Home thread, please do so-I thought I'd have better luck getting responses here)

I am in search of JUST a split queen box spring. Is it possible?
We have a great queen mattress but the box spring won't fit up our stairs.

So right now the mattress sits on the floor "oriental style"....we have a frame and everything just waitng to be used but I can't seem to find a place that can sell just a box spring!

FWIW, I have only browsed online, so I have not physically gone into any stores. I thought I'd see what kind of response I'd get here first though, TIA!

Yes, you can. I don't know where to direct you, but I assume a mattress store would be able to help you. We have had a couple of friends with this same problem, and they had no trouble finding what they needed.

Pretty much any mattress store can special order you a split queen box, and yes, you can buy just the box.

I don't see why not. I'd go to a mattress shop and see what they have in stock. When we got our last mattress set we ended up pairing a $$$ mattress with a much cheaper floor model box spring. We figured since it was not what people touched when they were testing the beds in the store, it wasa a good way to save money for a better mattress.

I believe the split queen that is in the set I bought could be purchased separately for $300-$400.

We bought a split box spring at sears when we moved our bedroom upstairs - couldn't fit the queen box up the stairs. it was about $320.

yes. we did just that recently. we have a platform bed, so we had a mattress for 3 years. then it started getting uncomfortable, so we decided to get a box spring (much more comfortable now).

we just went to different furniture stores and asked if it's possible. go to (or call) a few stores and asked, as the costs vary (some have a higher delivery cost also). i live in the midwest, and it was about $150 with delivery (10 min away).

We bought just a box spring a few years ago - however not a split box spring. I don't remember how much it costed - maybe in the $200 - $300 range?
