DH's birthday is 2/13 and he loves Suduko - does anyone have favorite Suduko themed gift ideas?
By the way, his whole life he has felt like his b-day is overshadowed at midnight because of Valentine's Day so any ideas on how to deal with that? My mother's b-day is New Year's Day where she says everyone always has a hangover and is tired on her b-day. Hey mine is on 1/10 and it's always cold and rainy - oh well....

I'm not a big suduko person, so I can't think of any specific game gift ideas, but if you want to get him something else, you could make a suduko puzzle that he has to solve to get his gift.
As for his bday being overshadowed by V-day, I'd start his celebration at midnight on the 13th and continue it the entire day. Either go out late and have a few drinks with friends or pop open a bottle of champagne right when the clocks chimes 12. Then do a nice breakfast in bed (with the suduko puzzle from the paper), some sort of fun activity in the afternoon followed by a great dinner.

They have a ton of Sudoku electronic games out there now. Does he have any of those? If you Google Sudoku gifts you'll find quite a few links to some neat stuff.
As for being overshadowed, my dad's birthday is on Christmas Eve so I'm sure he can feel for your DH. We just made sure we always set a time on Christmas Eve that was clearly all about his birthday (no mixing of Christmas gifts, etc.). Mom always made his favorite meal, he had the dessert of his choice and the whole morning was all about him. Then late in the afternoon we started doing the Christmas thing (we always had our Christmas on Christmas Eve because of all the festivities the following day we had to be at).

I buy them at The Dollar Store. Can you put a bunch of them in a box with his preferred writing instrument? Perhaps if he snacks while doing puzzles, you can get him a snack.
As a puzzle fan, I would love this.

How about one of those sudoku rubik's cubes I've seen at places like Barnes and Noble? There are some interesting sudoku type games in game areas of stores too you could check out.

This is what I was going to suggest as well.

Great ideas - I have never heard about the Rubik's Suduko, I'll have to check it out. also like the idea of the basket with Suduko puzzles/candy. Thanks to all for the suggestions.
