There is a thread over in the News forum about the recent UFO sightings in Texas. It got me to wondering if anyone has ever seen one for themselves. If so, where, what did it look like, what happened? If you've never seen them, do you believe in them?

I already posted in that aforementioned thread, but will re-post my reply here.

....shortly after moving out West, my XH and I saw...something weird flying in the sky. Its difficult to describe but basically, it was V-shaped and flew..floppy. I mean, the whole thing just seemed like it had no steel or anything of substance supporting it. I'm getting frustrated trying to explain it, but can picture it perfectly in my minds eye. Other than shape, it flew very low and was perfectly soundless, even when it was right over our heads. I'm here to tell you that I still believe, to this day, that what I saw that night was a UFO. Lets see, that was over ten years ago.

Go ahead. You can laugh if you want.:p

I haven't and this is not quite a UFO story but my parents tell me that when I was a baby they saw some kind of ball of light bounce down the hall and into my nursury that they were never able to explain.

The closest thing to a UFO I've seen is on a road trip to go see DH's parents 4 years ago, we all (me, DH, 2 BIL's) saw this thing in the night sky. It was very far off so it could've been anything but the way it moved was crazy. It did all kinds of loops and drops, very quickly. We saw it for maybe a min or 2. We all talked about it the rest of the night and it was very non-aircraft like...

I have never seen one. However, my mom swears she saw one (she was about 13 yr old). She said she was standing out on her front lawn with her sisters when all of a sudden she saw these weird light flashing...she looked up and swore she saw a UFO hovering with blinky type lights and as quick as she could get her parents it was gone. My moms parents called the police and reported when she and her sisters saw but blew it off until others is the area started calling in and telling the same story. To this day she truly believes with all her heart it was a UFO.

I haven't seen one but would love too. Well really it would probably freak me out to no end but I would still love too!!! I don't know anyone that has seen one.

i was in the 6th grade at a sleepover. and i swear we all saw one!
We were outside in the yard at night, and we all saw this triangular "shape" hovering in the sky. it wasn't a plane, there was no noise and it was barely moving.
then it moved to the right and hovered again and then it zipped back to the left and disappeared!

i don't know if we were just young and impressionable, but i still tell this story-and so do some of the other girls that were at that sleepover....

That was a ghost :D Seriously.

My DH swears he saw one once late at night. He saw a round object rising in the air and then shoot off at super speed across the horizon.

No, but I know many people who have. They all have the same story as kk_junebug... the triangle hovering and then whipping back and forth before taking off.

I've also seen a bouncing ball of light like Renrel. I was sleeping in my mom's bed when I was young because I was having nightmares about ghosts, and I woke up to see a greenish ball hovering over my mom's dresser. It moved around a little and disappeared.

Again, I think it is more likely that was a ghost than a UFO :D

Either way, creeeepy!

Nope, never seen one. I do believe that it's very possible there are other life forms out there in space, but I don't believe in the traditional mythology of them visiting us/abducting us/hovering around in those disc-like ships. I think that most of the UFO sightings out there are just that-- unidentified objects in the sky, most likely not belonging to aliens. Am I totally no fun or what? :D

I don't know if it was a UFO, but it was strange. One night I was in our backyard with the dog and saw 3 "stars" that had a diamond pattern to them. They were huge and looked very weird, so I had DH come outside and take a look for himself. We didn't know what it was but we both thought it could have been a UFO. It was there for quite a while - maybe 3 hours. Before I went to bed I checked again and it was gone. It had been very high up, not moving or blinking or anything, just three really bright lights. Couldn't have been a plane or anything.
