So I don't have any profiles on any social networking sites (Myspace, Facebook etc.). This is mostly because I used Friendster back in the day and after I established my profile and spent time searching for old classmates, etc, I realized that Friendster tells you who viewed your profile. I guess you can put yourself in "invisible" mode, but I didn't know it at the time and was really freaked out when the classmates I viewed started viewing my page. So I deleted my account.

Is Facebook the same in that you can view who viewed your profile or other information? I'm not stalking anyone or anything, but I would prefer to be able to search and view profiles anonymously.

Facebook you can't access profiles unless you are a friend of the person.

Facebook lets the individual choose whether just their friends, people in their network(s), or anyone can view their profile.

I didn't realize that when I signed up the default was that people in your networks could view your profile so I changed it to only let my friends view my page.

But other than that, as far as I can tell, I can't tell who has viewed my page.

No, it's impossible to see who has viewed your page, although obviously it's possible to "limit" it to certain groups.

Ok, thanks - here's my next question - when you join a network does it send emails or messages to everyone in that network that someone joined?
