Teen throws party while parents are away. Things get out of control. Teen is interviewed by national media. It looks fake!

Here's another one, with a close up of the little brat.

My 16 year old stepson pulled a stunt like this recently (he was supposed to be at his mom's - she didn't pick him up), so this is very timely. Fortunately his party was much, much smaller and there was minimal damage and no cops were called.

His @ss would so be grass if I was his mother.

I have a feeling his parents will let him off with a slap on the wrist. They just don't sound all that convincing to me.

I think I heard that interview on the radio this afternoon (I'll have to check when I'm not in the office) but that woman was awfully rude saying he should take off his glasses. I guess he already apologized before this interview too.

It is totally true, this is big news here (slow news week, or what??)

Apparently he will incur the $20,000 it cost for police action and damage to the neighbourhood.
He is too scared to go home now because of what his parents will do to him. Not so brave now, heh?

ETA - An update; he has just been taken into police custody (http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/party-boy-corey-arrested/2008/01/16/1200419849567.html). What an interesting weekend away for his parents...

Is it terrible that my first reaction to all this is wow - he has nice abs. Must surf a lot.

As the parent of a 17 year old, I'd kill him.

Well, maybe not. First of all, I've had parties when I was a teen and the parents left us alone. What a mistake, and one of the many reasons I'd never leave my teenager home alone while I went away on a "holiday". If he claimed he had to work, he'd be staying at the grandparents, or something. He's not responsible enough to be left alone. The parents outright recognized he was a very popular boy with lots of friends. They didn't recognize he'd want to have a party, even after work? They are ultimately responsible, but they need to make him pay, even if he has to work everyday after school, and pay the government directly, oh, and grounded with no cell phone to text people would be the first thing he'd have to live with.

On a side note, where we used to live, parents left their 2 teens alone for a weekend in their brand new (not even a year old) $500,000 house. When they returned, they had almost $300,000 in damages to repair from their kids party. The kids broke toilets, sinks, ripped out walls, etc. It was sad, and I believe the kids were thrown into the juvenile hall because of it.

Not sure when parents of teens will learn.
