Over the holiday break, we were watching some pretty crappy TV and caught quite a few commercials with that screaming OxyClean guy. Of course, I think that I must have those Debbie Myer's Green Bags (http://www.asseenontv.com/prod-pages/deb_m_gbags_ontv.html?gid=) and some mandolin vegetable slicer thing (can't find a link). So before I fork over the $10 - $20 I'm just wondering what, if anything you guys might have bought that you saw on tv.

Not exactly the same thing, but I just bought a comforter set that I saw on Divine Design for my new Parisian-inspired gray bedroom.

Oh, oooh, I want those green bags too.

And the adhesive foot pads that suck out all your impurities -- detox your body in a week!

I don't think I've ever bought anything though.

The Furminator - although we bought it at a store, we first saw it in an infomercial.

Oh yeah, years ago I bought Windsor Pilates.

Me three on the green bags.

I did a little research on those foot pad thingies. So far, it's 50/50 on the results. Many people just think they are useless, and the people that seem to think they work have made claims that they work wonders. So I just don't know about those things. I'm probably gonna pass and stick to my Cleanse Smart system.

The green bags work! I never actually saw the infomercial, but I bought them and they are great. You can get them at reusablebags.com and Whole Foods, as well as other grocery stores and websites.

I'd been looking for the Bissell Steam Mop in stores, and I couldn't find it anywhere. So I was watching TV, and it said "H2O Steam Mop" on the guide listing. I switched to that channel, and I proceeded to buy it! I plan on using it for the first time tonight.

I don't feel like a total dork, simply because I sought out that infomercial. It wasn't like they completely reeled me in! ;)

I saw one yesterday that was quite amusing. It is a stick that you use to make your boobs bigger. I can't explain how it worked but they kept showing closeups of these womens boobs as they used it and it was disturbing. I'm not going to buy it, but I thought the commercial was pretty funny. It is supposed to lift your boobs and make them bigger by building the muscle behind them.

I once bought a RevoStyler - the amazing rotating hairbrush!!
http://revostyler.net/
Ummm yeah it did NOT make my hair shinier then I'd ever seen. It sucked. Tried it once and then never again. I brought it into work to return it during the 90 days I had before returns were no longer accepted. That was like 6 years ago. The RevoStyler boxes are still sitting here under my desk. Yeah I'm a bit absent minded.
Oh - and when I got mine it was "Buy NOW and receive a second RevoStyler at no extra charge!". I guess their definition of "now" is a bit vague as they are still running that same promo.

So anyone want to buy a VERY gently used RevoStyler? If you buy right NOW I'll throw in a second one for free!!!

Hahahhahahahahah.

DH recently bought the Zorbeez absorbent cloths that Billy Mays advertises(but not off TV, at the drug store). They don't seem much different from a regular piece of felt.
I want the Leg Magic thing for thighs.

I bought the green bags - it took forever for them to show up (I think almost three months). In the meantime, I injured my leg, so DH has been in charge of all the grocery shopping and cooking - he says the green bags work reallyreally well. I noticed our recent salads have tasted a little funny, but I'm not sure if it's from the bags or not...

I bought my parents the Ronco Rotisserie (http://www.asseenontv.com/prod-pages/ronco_showtime_bbq_rotisserie.html)... You know.... "Set it and forget it?
It actually works really well and they use it pretty often... Put a chicken in, "set it" and then stare at the jucy rotating chicken for the next hour and a half. :)

My mom bought me those green bags, and like everyone else said they really do work! I haven't used them with lettuce, but I use then with fruit all the time! The banana's stay yellow for about 3-4 days longer before turning brown. I was actually amazed!!

I know they're everywhere now, but I bought the original tiny George Foreman Grill back when it was only offered on infomercials. I've never bought anything else off an infomercial... at least I bought something good! It still works perfectly 10 years later, which, even though I want it, makes it hard to justify buying the new one with the removable grills. :D

The Super Putty stuff looks so useful, I'm curious if it works as well as they say. Just in case I need to tow a semi truck! :D

I've heard that you can get the same stuff at Home Depot for LOTS cheaper...apparently it's a type of epoxy that's been around for 20 years. You just have to pay for Billy Mays screaming if you order it from TV. I haven't actually tried either brand, though, so who knows?

I bought something from an infomercial years ago...the funny thing is I can't remember what it was, just that I was appalled at the shipping charges for the item and the "free" gift. Now I always do some online research for reviews, etc., and then try to find it elsewhere before I buy. Let's just say there's nothing I've ever wanted from an infomercial that I wasn't able to find on ebay, craigslist, or at a garage sale. ;)

Ribbit- I hear you. When I ordered my steam mop, there was a "free" steam cleaner included if you "ORDER NOW!" -- shipping on the damn thing was $30! (I passed.) Plus, it took three weeks for my steam mop to arrive -- and two weeks from the time I received an "item shipped" e-mail. I thought that was quite ridiculous.

I know someone (my old boss) who bought the magic bullet. She had everything shipped to work, so we were the guinea pigs on a number of recipes. She made fantastic peanut butter with it as well as various smoothies. It actually worked pretty good. :)

The Morning Show With Mike and Juliet tested a bunch of as seen on tv items on today's show, and the thing they neglect to tell you on the infomercial is that the potatoes have to be boiled first.

I want the green bags (thanks for the tips on where to find them in stores!) and the thingy that makes it easy to cut open plastic packaging. My MIL watches HGTV all the time and over Christmas we saw that commercial so many times, it made us want one.

We saw Mighty Putty and some other "as seen on TV" items at Target near the cookware/appliances area a few weeks ago.

We always laugh when we see the commercial for the paper cutter. The product looks neat, but the commercial is so exaggerated..."its SO HARD to cut a straight line with scissors" (as they show someone cutting a jagged line like a 2 year old would).

OMG, I HATE when commercials are exaggerated like that! Like we're all a bunch of morons who can't open a can of soda without breaking off all our nails, or shave our legs without falling over. Nothing makes me want to buy a product LESS than insulting advertising.

Yeah, I think some of the commercials are just plain stupid, but what can I expect?

A razor that you can use FOREVER? Wow! And they send you 2 of them, so now you can have a FOREVER FOREVER razor! And who the hell cuts paper like that with scissors? I mean, did she have a seizure while cutting? I can't cut straight to save my life, but I don't make edges like that either!

I would love the lighted scrapbook paper cutter thingamabob. That looks pretty cool, but I'll just keep using my non-lighted Fiskar's one for now - I don't scrapbook much because of time.

I would love to try the foot pad / toxin releaser just to see if it worked. The plastic 'clamshell' opener is pretty cool too.

Oh, and the slicer that is now being advertised? We got one from BB&B for our wedding and it KICKS ASS. DH uses it all the time.

Is this that Cricut thing? I remember watching that infomercial over the Christmas holiday and I was intrigued. My only problem it that over the course of the whole program, I don't think they told you the price of the product once!

We bought the Space Bags at Costco and they suck royally. Only one out of the 4 or 5 we tried actually held the vacuum seal. Waste of money.

The Magic Bullet rocks! It is so handy and easy to clean. I would never make smoothies if I had to do it in a traditional blender. It is powerful enough to blend up whole frozen strawberries.

I think the foot pad toxin absorber thing seems interesting too but I heard that the elements in the pads turn black just in response to sweat not toxins. Probably just a scam.

No, the cricut is something else. It's like an electronic die cutting machine. The cutter they're talking about is like a personal paper cutter/trimmer, but it has a back light. :) It actually does look really cool.

I got this in my stocking. It was from Home Depot, and it works great.

My DH's cousin (a guy) buys infomercial stuff all the time. EuroSealer (crap), Magic Bullet (made great drinks when he brought it over but I don't think he's used it much), FoodSaver (he gave us one for our wedding and we love it).

Although most things hit the "regular" stores eventually.

I got the space bags at BJs and they work "OK".

I saw saw something recently but for the life of me I can't remember what it is. Usually I see it late at night if I can't sleep and I can never remember the website etc.

Infomercials crack me up though "if you call in the next 10 minutes we will send you XYX free" etc. etc.

The only thing I've ever bought was Winsor Pilates (and I returned it). My Mom though LOVES QVC and most of our gifts come from there (unfortunately). For Christmas I got some "amazing" hair trimmer (haven't used it yet). A few years ago I got a steamer with all sorts of different attachments. I tried using it a few times to clean the bathroom and it was messy and didn't seem to do a very good job. It was also kind of dangerous - I almost burned myself on the steam many times. It's still in our closet - I think we need to throw it away.

My sister's husband bought her the Aero Garden for Christmas. He said it was an impulse purchase at Home Depot. She's planning on using it to start the seeds for her outdoor vegetable garden.

Interesting! I will have to try that. I'd been thinking about getting one of those "as seen on TV" things specifically for opening those stupid clamshells. Would love it if the can opener would do the trick!

I can recommend a "as seen on TV" product NOT to purchase. The Onion Chopper (http://www.asseenontvguys.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=201). I bought an identical one at Williams Sonoma after seeing the TV commercials and it doesn't work worth a darn. You have to cut the onion into like 10 pieces to get it to close-- and even then it's a struggle that requires muscle. Clean up is impossible, as the onion sticks in the grate and will not come out. I finally threw mine out, it was that worthless.

LOL! I fell victim to these as well in the 1990s. What a huge waste of money...they were so cheaply made, and didn't work nearly as well.

Another product I bought from ASOTV was the Nads hair removal system. It was a "sugaring" wax system, and did not work at all. To add insult to injury, the cheap "amazing bonus" lotions it came with were just glycerin and fragrance. Lovely!

DH and I were amazed watching the infomercial a few years back for the Eggstractor. We were like  and got the buy one get one deal.

Well...its a POS. We had to pump so hard to get that egg to come out that the egg exploded all over the kitchen and the house stunk all day long! It took more energy to use that thing than to just peel the damn things yourself.

My mom has the magic bullet and has yet to use it, but I want to get my hands on it and make guac and salsa in it. Yum

My BFF uses her Rotissere thing every day almost. I didn't think the chicken tasted any better than in the oven but hey whatever.

Just a heads-up on this one...I saw someone demonstrate the Magic Bullet's abilities to make salsa once. It didn't do anywhere near as good of a job for them as it did on TV. I think they had trouble getting the ingredients to mash up properly. Hopefully you'll have better luck.

I bought one of the Nads hair remover kits. It was created by this Australian lady I think? It's this gooey green stuff that looks like & has the consistency of green honey. It came with these white cloth strips. Boy it hurt to "wax" using the Nads! It found its way to my trashcan pretty quickly.

I also got the Windsor Pilates set after seeing the infomercial. I think Daisy Fuentes was one of the mail people advertising it. I actually bought mine off Ebay though, so it was like 1/3 of the cost if I'd bought it through the actual W.P. people.

You can check out a bunch of infomercial stuff on www.asseenontv.com. Lots of fun gadgets to spend $$ on. :)

Handy Peel--My Grandma thought this looked interesting and I posted here about it. Yes, you DO need to boil the veggies first. Too bad. :(

AeroGarden--DH and I bought one of these back in October. We used the Gourmet Herb set and it's still growing. We really love it! We just keep harvesting and drying herbs. We recently had to buy extra nutrients (12 more weeks worth) because we don't want to let our herbs die yet.

Space Bags--I LOVE these things! My mom used to buy them on QVC and now, I buy them at Wal-Mart. I have put many pillows, blankets and towels in them to store them in closets and under the bed. I also store my bath mat sets in one when I'm not using them. I use the sweeper to suck the air out of them. If you use them over and over again, they do develop holes. And sometimes, you do find one that already has a hole in it, but in my experience, it's rare. I also use the small ones to pack clothes in when flying--especially when coming home!

We have a magic bullet and a gizzelle.

DH uses the MB, its cool, but we don't use it enough. The gizzelle is pretty cool, deent work out.

I may think of getting one of those light things since all of our closets in the hall aren't lighted, and for some reason I always reach for a light.

That lighted laser thing does look cool, but I thought the same as PP, who cuts through the face of pictures?

I am a SUCKER for as seen on TV stuff.

I don't think I've ever actually ordered from TV, usually just the things I've found in stores. I've even seen a store that only sells as seen on tv products.

The things I can think of that I've purchased:
The Eggstractor -total crap, you have to press so hard to even think about getting the egg to come out, it isn't even worth it

The Magic Bullet - LOVE IT! We actually got it for a wedding present and use it often. I use it to make quick drinks (like Carnation instant breakfast), olive salad (for muffelatas), chopping nuts, whipping cream, all kinds of stuff. It is just quick and easy and goes right in the dishwasher. My only complaint is there are a LOT of pieces and we ended up buying a canvas bin to put everything in.

Betty Crocker Bake'n Fill (https://checkout.primetimesolutions.net/clients/natex/bakenfill.com/index.php?page=Home)- Another CRAP product. I used it once and tossed it right out. Everything stuck to the pan, it was just crappy.

I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of any tonight.

And for those of you talking about the Craft Lite Cutter (http://www.craftlitecutter.com/), I had saved the site in my favorites, because I am completely coveting that one. And I don't even really do much scrapbooking, but it just looks cool.

I didn't order from a TV ad but I also like Nads. Good for underarms, especially if your hair isn't too coarse there.

Two years ago, I had surgery and had to stay overnight. I woke up at 2 a.m. and saw what I thought was THE MOST AMAZING infomercial ever. I was still pretty doped up so it took a while (like three days) to figure out it was for Sheer Cover makeup. I did buy some, and I still use it, actually. I like it. :)

We bought super chamois at a fair at least 20 years ago. They were not very good. The next year, the people were back hawking them. My mom said that they were ineffective. So she got 2 free sets. She still uses those to this day.

I bought a knife set many years ago. Titanium blades? More like plastic. They are total crap. And the free second set. I did not ask about handling. It was like $50 to ship the second set.

I have the turby twist, the hair towel you wrap into a turban. A friend bought them and gave me one. This was about 10 years ago. I still use mine. I love it.

I have seen the magic bullet and am really intrigued.

ooooo....I've thought of more.

I have this Glass Wizard (http://www.asseenontv.com/prod-pages/glass_wizard.html?gid=HOUSEHOLD), it works okay. I keep mine in my car for quick and easy windshield cleaning.

I've also got a turbo twisty thing as a gift. I don't use mine though...I feel like it didn't work as well as a regular towel for me.

I've actually never seen the informercial for these, but supposedly there is one. These dryer balls are fantastic-- they work really well! The laundry dries faster, is nice and fluffy, and we don't have to use dryer sheets (great if you have fragrance allergies or are just trying to cut back on household chemicals). No more buying dryer sheets = money saved in the long run.

We got them for $9.99 for a package of two at Bed Bath & Beyond. Totally worth it.

Add Dryer Balls™ to your laundry to safely, naturally soften and fluff laundry without the use of chemicals. As the air circulates, Dryer Balls™ gently lift and separate fabric without dryer sheets or softeners. Hypoallergenic and reusable. Heat-resistant plastic. Set of 2.

Thank you Rosebud! I have always wondered about those Dryer Balls!! I haven't seen them on TV either, but always seem them at the entrance to BB&B, and always want to buy them, but was always worried it would be a waste.

I guess I'll have to invest!!

I have a Magic Bullet and I love it. It is perfect for smoothies and baby food--any occasion where you don't really need the capacity of a real blender.

I have the one touch can opener and love it. I let my 4 year old push the button and it is a cheap thrill for him. ;) The only problem is you have to make sure to change the batteries when you think they are getting low because the can will get caught on the opener and it is pretty much impossible to get the can removed, trust me.

Weird about the dryer balls. I read in consumer reports that they didn't work at all. Though a friend told me that putting tennis balls in the dryer cuts down on the drying time for fluffy items like comforters.

I had the total opposite experience with these, I thought they SUCKED!!! I had tons of static and I didn't think they made the load dry any faster. Maybe I got a bad batch:confused:

Well, our washer and dryer are on the small side (one of those little, stackable units), so two of those balls work great for us-- no static at all and faster drying time. If you have a larger dryer or are doing a big load of laundry maybe you need more of the balls? But they're definitely working for me.

My DH bought the TURBO COOKER for me a few years ago. It burned the sh*t out of everything! But then I found out that he bought a "generic" (didn't know there was such a thing) at the As Seen on TV store in the mall. A friend of mine who has the REAL turbo cooker thinks it's wicked awesome. Needless to say mine went to Salv. A. pretty immediately.

I've bought all kinds of stuff - at the store, not actually from TV, but it's as seen on TV stuff.

Nads I thought it sucked. I couldn't use it for small areas, but it was OK on my legs, it was just too much work. But I'm thinking of breaking it out again since I hate shaving.

Windsor Pilates I like it. I don't do it as often as I should to, you know, be in shape. But it's good and it really does work.

Zumba Another exercise tape. It's like Latin dancing. It's super silly and the crew is kind of annoying, but it's fun and it's a good workout.

Bare Minerals makeup I love this stuff. I'm super allergic to everything and my skin is really breakout prone, so this stuff is great. I still get breakouts, it doesn't work miracles, but it's a lot easier on my skin. My only complaint is that the loose powder is messy and the brushes are expensive but kind of cheapy (they shed and when I washed them, the handles fell off). But I don't think you have to use their brushes.

I'm kind of stoked about getting those dryer balls. I hate dryer sheets and DH refuses to use liquid softener.

Got the Ped Egg...only used it twice but am not that impressed. DH looked at it and called it a "cheese grater". Ugh. My mom actually bought it for me at Bed, Bath and Beyond, but I *had* seen it on TV and thought about getting it! LOL

We also love Space Bags and our Food Saver.

I like our FoodSaver, but honestly, we hardly use it at all. We live 1.5 hrs from the closest Sams Club so we don't really buy in bulk. Because of that we have nothing to vacuum. We tend to buy our perishable items as needed.

Space Bags. - These are my trademark! My whole family has made fun of me for YEARS about these bags. I've been using the travel ones for *years*. I have a suitcase that is so large is has shelves in it and I can take them out and zip myself up inside it. One of our WDW vacations SO's aunt opened my suitcase to find my "shelves" filled with my clothes in space bags all compact. They thought it was a riot. I use the large ones for blankets and such. I've only had one (the super size for my down comforter) that had a hole in it....what a bummer. I actually just bought a new pack yesterday for my upcoming vacation.
