Hi moms,

What do/did you tell your DCs about Santa? I thought the moms in the older kids forum could help me out with this!

Our DS just turned 2 and at Christmas time he really started noticing all the differences (lights, trees, etc.) and especially started a fascination with Santa Claus! DH and I are a little unsure about what to tell him as he gets older. My own mom said she was devastated as a young child to find out Santa Claus didn't really exist, and felt deceived and lied to by her parents. :( Other kids seem to love the idea and don't feel exceptionally let down or devastated when they do find out the truth.

We're worried to tell our DS Santa brought him presents, only to have him feel let down/deceived later when he learns the truth, but we also want to him to experience some of the "magic" of the season. (We also don't want to bring in any religion into the picture because we're an interfaith couple who are more "spiritual" than practicing in each of of our particular faiths.)

What do you moms do? How did your DCs react to learning the truth if they have? Any suggestions for a confused mommy?

Thanks for your advice!

Will you tell your child/ren there's a Santa? (http://www.constantchatter.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10710&highlight=Santa)

Santa Claus - the myth? (http://www.constantchatter.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37563&highlight=Santa)

I think there are more, but can't find them right now.
