I thought it would be fun if we could start a place for all of the Summer 2008 Brides to chat.

Here I will start it off with my stats:

Bride: Tara (Tara07)
Groom: Jose
Date: 07/12/08
Colors/Theme: black & ivory and fushcia(ish)/hot pinkish colors, heart for the theme
Ceremony Location: Catholic Churhc in Indiana
Reception Location: TBD
Honeymoon Location: TBD, have not decided yet.

So far the only things that I have done so far is chose the reception site, where we are going to buy our flowers. We are still trying to figure out where we are going to have our wedding.

This weekend we decided to change our colors again to Black, Silver and Ivory. I think that might be the best because we bought our centerpeices and they have those colors, and it really looks sharp.

We have also chosen our reception site all we need to do is put the down the deposit.

Well it seems like I am the only one so far, but I havent really done anything as of yet, but set the date at the church. I also have purchased centerpieces but I dont know if we will use them, but you never know they will come in handy somewhere. The most important things we need to do right now is make a guest list and do invitations because it is only 5 months away.

Hi Tara, don't worry you aren't the only one, thanks for starting this thread :) I am getting married June 27, 2008.
The black, silver and ivory sounds really pretty!
Here is my info:
Bride: Julie (Jewelz)
Groom: Ben
Date: 06/27/08
Colors/Theme: shrimp (pinkish peach) and chocolate brown/polka dots n hearts
Ceremony Location: Deer Creek gazebo (Canada)
Reception Location: Deer creek
Honeymoon Location: PEI

I have everything booked/bought except for the cake and the tuxes. I am making the invitations so they should be done by the end of the month (sending them lots of time in advance because 80% of the people invited will be travelling here). We put our rings on layaway today :)
I had thought planning a wedding would be tedious but I could totally do it for a living, so fun!
When I figure out how to post pics here I will show some of my choices.

Thanks Jewelz for responding!! I am so glad that i am not the only one.

Today we were supposed to choose our tuxes but the weather here in Indiana was really bad. We had white out conditions so we didnt go anywhere. I also was going to get a new bag for my wedding dress because I ripped mine. I also got some good news that one of my bridesmaids is going to help out with the cost of the reception. I am really excited because that is one of my biggest expenses. I also need to send my invitations early because about 60% of people are going to be traveling from California so i need to send them out in time to have people book tickets and such. It will be interesting to see how many people are able to afford and make it.

Jewelz. I need some help. What a coincedence, because my bouquet is going to look like your but a little different, I love the white roses and stephanotis together!!

My only problem is that I am trying to find bridesmaids and MOH bouquets with my colors which are black, silver and white. I was thinking of doing white gerbrera daisies, dahlias and white roses with there stems wrapped in black and silver ribbon, or do my stems in white. I dont know yet, but if anyone can help with pictures that would be great.

I love dahlias, so pretty and I don't see them too often. I would say choose the wrap of the bridesmaid's bouquests based on the color of the dresses so they blend in.
Here are some pics of bouquets with some black/silver accents. I love the one with the black feathers, classy yet funky ;)

Well we have found our place for the reception. It is the most incredible place you have ever seen. It looks like a beautiful Italian cafe. For 50 people including everything we are spending $1000.00 including tax and gratuity for the reception, they are not charging us to use there audio&visual system which is awesome because it saves us money from having to spend on a DJ. Then we are going to have a huge buffet which includes 2 appetizers, 1 pasta, 1 meat-chicken is what we decided, vegetable, salad and bread and drinks.

So I am really excited my mom sent me $ 500.00, and one of my other bridesmaids is sending us some money too, so hopefully we can have everything worked out soon.

The next few things I need to start working on are my:

invitations
favors
flowers
tuxes- we had a really a bad time at there because they had nothing for my fiance to try on so it was very frustrating and I felt like they were rushing us to choose something, and my FH liked a suite but they didnt even have it in stock so why have it on display if you are not going to sell it or rent it, you know. Speaking of this I need to call and complain.

So far that is all i can think of right now. We are still trying to decide on our first dance song.

Jewelz

wow Tara07 that is an amazing price for the reception!

I am working on finishing my invitations this weekend, hoping to have them in the mail by the end of the month. On Saturday I am booking our hair appointment, and getting the girls gift (bracelets) on Sunday.

I'm pretty sure our first dance will be to Love of A Lifetime by Firehouse, it was our song in high school back in 1991 lol.

Here is what I have left to do (I'm sure I'll think of something else later):
- get the tuxes booked
- taste test for the cake
- put Ben's ring on layaway
- get purse
- get frame and matte for guests to sign
- get bristol board and make thank you sign for photos (to put in thank you cards)
- rent chair covers
- pay deposit for manicures for me and bridesmaids
- get gift for guys

Thanks so much Julie for posting those pictures of the bouquets, they are gorgeous.

Right now, we are trying to finalize our gueslist and send out our invitations now so that way people can respond back to us and let us know if they are going to be able to come.

Also I think we are going to add an accent color to our wedding we are thinking of either fuschia pink or turqouise bluish color. I am not sure yet. That is something that is still in the works.

Also we are trying to get pricing on the cakes. We are looking at what type we want and what kind flavors.

Gosh a wedding is full of so many decisions, it is crazy.

We picked out our cake last Sunday - 3 tiers, the bottom is french vanilla, the middle is carrot cake, and the top tier that we freeze for our 1 year anniversary is cherry - with buttercream icing and little peach and white appleblossom candy flowers all over it. Need to get a cake topper, I'm thinking about this one:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=140212908466&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:PIC&ih=004

I made the deposit for mine and bridesmaids gel manicures today.

At long last I got all but 7 invitations out last week!! The 7 to be done are local so not too urgent, I'm just waiting on extra envelopes.
I will post the invites in the DIY Invite thread.

Wow, the flutes and server set look really expensive, so nice. I cheaped out on ours a little, they are plain but I'll probably to tie a ribbon around each flute. Where did you get that cake topper? It is so beautiful!

We were looking at the one in the link below, but I LOVE yours (my only concern with a white one was that we chose buttercream frosting for the cake - instead of fondant - so the frosting maybe a little yellow/ivoryish while the topper is very white....)

Jewelz we purchased everything at www.thingremembered.com and they were shipped to us. This was the only cake topper we had. We spent about $120.00 for everything including engraving. The only thing that we didnt engrave was the knife and server set.

My work is throwing me a "spa shower" next Tuesday. We have some people coming to do facials and massages , all the girls from work are included. It should be really fun, I am excited.

As for my regular shower, we still havent rescheduled it yet. I'm kinda sad because I really want to have it before I have our house, so I can get some stuff, but oh well. I have to wait on my SIL, so that she can come, she is still going to be with her baby.

I just had my official shower this weekend, it was so awesome and I had so much fun. It was very intimate with just about 7 people. I also am moving into our new house tomorrow.

I cant believe my wedding is only 32 days away.
