I'm starting taking mine down today. It takes me all day to wrap the ornaments and get all the other inside stuff down. Then I give the room a good cleaning.

My mother in law also says I do it too early. The needles are dropping and I'm just sick of looking at the thing. Its been up since the first week in December.

I go back to work on Wednesday and want our house back to normal before all the hectic craziness sets back in.

Do you think its too early?

It'll be taken down tomorrow.

Usually it's up for another week but DH is going OOT for 2 weeks next week and I don't want to hassle with it with 2 babies...

Typically sometime after New Year's, but everything was packed up and put in the attic yesterday.

I packed up all of the decorations last night and DH will be taking down the tree today. We usually wait until the 2nd of January but I had time yesterday.

I just always make sure it's put up and the room's cleaned before I return to work. This year, I don't go back until Monday! I'll probably take it down thursday or friday.

No its not too early at all!

We took ours down yesterday. DH likes it up for his bday on the 28th so we usually take it down the weekend after Christmas/before New Years. We usually never have it up after New Years.

We put all our stuff up the weekend after Thanksgiving so it is definitely not too early for us.

I have to say, our living room does look boring now. ;)

I took mine down Saturday night. It was dropping so many needles and I couldn't stand the continued mess! I'll likely take down the rest of my decorations tomorrow.

Ours went down Thursday night (12/27)... the cleaning lady was here and I had to get it out as it was very dead and dropping needles every where!

Mine's already down...since I have about 10 days off of work for the Holidays, I had plenty of time to get it down. Now, if I could only get DH to take down the outside lights...

Hopefully, I will be taking all holiday decorations including the tree down tomorrow. I love looking at my tree, but I'm ready to have the house back to normal!

We haven't put a tree up since we've had our cat, but when we did, it always came down either New Year's Day or the day after if we were off from work. I always love putting the decorations away and getting back to normal. There's something refreshing about it IMO.

Not until this weekend. (tree is fake, no dropping needles here)

Usually after Epiphany, but this year I'm going out of town on the 6th so I'll probably take it down in the next day or so.

Ours came down on the 26th. Once the presents are gone, the tree looks too sad for me to leave it up. I have been known to take it down on the evening of the 25th!

Coming down tomorrow - so long as I'm feeling up to it after tonight's party!

I normally leave it up longer than this, but I just want it gone, so I can organize the zillion new toys and paint the area of the family room where I am moving the kids' play area.

I think next weekend we'll take ours down. We didn't have a tree for a long time and were away last week so I feel like I haven't really enjoyed it. DH loves having the lights on at night too.

We took ours down this weekend. I was getting tired of it since it had been up since right after Thanksgiving. Now we have the furniture to move back around after a thorough cleaning. I don't have much time off work, but when I go back on Wednesday I want the house put back in order.

We always take it down on New Year's Day. I did put away many of the decorations this weekend to make it easier on myself tomorrow though.

We have a live tree but only decorated it on Christmas Eve. We'll take it down on the 6th for Epiphany. It smells so nice and I love the ornaments. But then again, we have the space and it's not like we put up a lot of other decorations (garlands or anything) for Christmas.

January 6. We get a live tree, but don't usually get it until mid-December, so it's got plenty of time left before it becomes a fire hazard. I'm a firm believer in celebrating all 12 days of Christmas, so the tree stays up until Epiphany.

Mine came down this weekend. It goes up the week before and comes down the week after. My birthday is the week before Christmas and my brother's is the week after. Growing up, my mom was very careful to keep our birthdays and Christmas separate, and that's just become my tradition as well.

NYE too early? No, not at all! It is rare that ours stays up this far after Christmas. Then again we put it up on Thanksgiving.

It is just such a chore...

We take ours down when it starts to drop too many needles. This year, it was the 27th... usually, it's longer, but we get our tree the day after Thanksgiving and Tgiving was so early this year, it'd been up for a long time.

I removed the ornaments & lights on Sunday night, and DH took out the tree today (Monday). Even though we kept it watered and rarely had our heater on, the tree dried out quicker than I thought it would.

We took all the ornaments, lights, and beads off yesterday and boxed all that stuff up for storage. It's coming down today or tomorrow. It's a live tree and I just want to get it out.

I have never had a set date to take down the tree. I think it is just when I get sick of looking at it.
I knew someone that left it up all year and would decorate it for each holiday-i dont think so! :p

We usually take ours down the day after Christmas. Mostly because we put it up the day after Thanksgiving and by then we are done looking at it. Christmas is over and I just want to get rid of it. This year we had WAY too many toys to go through so it didn't come down for a few days.

ditto this. The rule when I was a kid was that it HAD to come down by then because that's usually when we had my birthday party (happy birthday to me!), and I've always followed that rule.

We took ours down on New Year's Day since we both had the day off from work. It's an artificial tree, though. Normally we do it the first weekend after the New Year, but we did it earlier this year because we have to start thinking about baby stuff, and it's easier to do when the previous big event's stuff is put away. :D

Am I the only one whose Christmas tree is still up? :o :o

FWIW, I did take all the lights and ornaments down and packed them away on December 30. DH is/was supposed to take care of the actual tree. So far, it's still sitting there. It's quite sad, actually. :o

We didn't get a tree this year, but if we had, it'd still be up....we did decorate the mantle, and I don't think that stuff's going anywhere for a while. SO *really* likes the sparkly lights and I usually can't get the tree out of the house until the needles are falling off!!!

Ours is still up, decorated and everything (the decorations are still up outside too LOL)... we're so lazy when it comes to taking it down. Meant to get it down January 6 but for some reason didn't do it.

This year it came down on the 28th. DS's birthday is the 30th and all Christmas has to be put away by then so his birthday can be properly celebrated :)

When do we take down our tree? I'll let you know.

Anna Low
01-10-2008, 03:37 PM
Nope, you aren't alone. We did take the lights out of the windows, but the tree is still up in all its glory. Normally, it would be down by now, but in our defense, we have had at least 3 family emergency situations since NY's and just have not had the time. Unfortunately, the flip side is that we won't have the time for at least 2 more weeks. (I'm so embarassed)

I'm scared that I'll have a Valentine's Day tree...........
