Portland Indy Media –Santa Arrested in PDX for Demanding Impeachment
(and Offering Candy Canes, Constitution to the Cops)

On the picket lines today—for the 21st Thursday— in front of the Portland OR office of Rep. Earl Blumenauer, three of the Impeach Group's pickets were arrested: Santa and two elves. "Santa" was Joe Walsh, a Veterans for Peace member and sparkplug for regulars in red impeachment shirts responding to the Oregon congressman's refusal to co-sponsor Rep. Dennis Kucinich's HRes 799 to impeach Vice President Cheney.

Yeah, but lots of people dress up as Santa to commit crimes at this time of the year. You'd be surprised at how many "Santa"s are arrested... and should be!

Is it bad that this story made me laugh? Not that a DUI is at all funny or anything, but that news story did make me laugh. Not so much that Santa got arrested for a DUI, but that he also happened to be wearing a g-string AND a Santa suit. :D

Also, a DUI to me is a bit different than some elderly guy holding up an "Impeach" sign and refusing to move.

If you feel a law or situation is unjust then fight it. BUT be willing to take the consequences for breaking said law.

I admit I didn't read the whole story. I hope "Santa" isn't bitching that he got arrested for blocking doors and refusing to move. I'm all for protesting and standing firm when it needs to be done, but there can be consequences.

And I'd feel the same way if it wasn't Santa. Though Santa being arrested might explain why he didn't bring me my diamond tiara like I asked.;)
