View Full Version : Do you use those premoistened toilet paper sheets?

Sorry if this is TMI, but I'm curious about those premoistened toilet paper 'sheets' that come in little boxes. I'm seeing them more and more, and I see people buy them all the time. Why? What is the advantage? Do they clean you better? Or, do you buy them for certain health reasons? Why are they becoming so popular?

I'm going to go with yes, they do clean you better and I *heart* them.

I was thinking about buying them for AF time. I dunno... they kind of seem like expensive versions of baby wipes to me though.

They clean much better, and especially if you have sensitive skin they leave you a little bit more - ahem - softer in the #2 area. :o

I agree with this... I used the fresh wipes version at first, but not long ago I switched to inexpensive baby wipes. Same result, bigger package, smaller price. I like the 'cleaner' feeling I get. I still use regular TP too though.

I was wondering about that. Do you use regular TP first, then do your 'final clean-up' with the premoistened sheets? Or vice-versa? How does all that work?

I use them, but rarely. But, they are great for travel though--I keep a trial size pack in my purse if we are taking an extended car trip anywhere. Can't deal with sandpaper-like TP in some public restrooms. :)

Another great thing I found, Bath & Body works carries little packs of antibacterial hand wipes. Also great for travel.

Oprah had the authors of You: The Owner's Manual on last season and they recommended them. I think you could save your money and just use baby wipes as they are the same thing. We don't use them, but (waaaaaay TMI) last week or the week before I was having some issues in that area (your body sometimes 'cleans you out' when you're approaching labor), so I broke into the baby wipes. I'd say they definitely clean better AND you use less wipes than you do TP.

So, even if you don't normally use them, they are good for times when you are experiencing diarrhea or other such 'issues'? They really are that much more gentle on your skin?

I would like to use them all the time because it is that much more comfy, but I don't think I can justify the cost to my husband. Think about it like this-say you have dirt on your arm. You try to clean it off with a (dry) paper towel. You will probably have to rub and rub before it comes off. Now, you get that same paper towel wet and put a little soap on there, the dirt comes right off and it feels much better. :)

If you like the idea, it's cheaper to buy the unscented generic baby wipes from Target or some other store.

Ohmygosh, I love these things. I discovered them after having my baby, when #2 was rather scary. Still use them for that purpose.

I use them occasionally when I want to feel extra clean. ;) I think they definetly clean better then regular TP. I never even thought to buy baby wipes but that would be cheaper.

So do most people use regular TP for #1, and the wipes for #2?

Lordy, I can't believe I'm sharing this! ;)

I have my little #2 routine - regular TP first, moist wipes to get good and clean, the regular TP again to 'dry off'. (Don't relish the idea of a wet bum...)

I only use regular TP for #1.

I get the baby wipes and they work just as well if not better :)

Funny, but I was wondering about this! Don't they leave you with a wet butt? Do you have to 'air dry' for a minute or is it not that bad?

Funny thread!

I will alternate, but usually use regular TP. Wipes will leave you a little moist so that's why some do use reg TP after.

Something to consider, if you use baby wipes, you can't flush them. The "wipes" are flushable. I can't stand having things like that hang out in my bath garbage but that's just me.

You can't flush the baby wipes? ewwwww...... I think I'll try the regular TP wipes that are flushable! (but then again, aren't they basically the same thing? Why is one flushable and one not?)

I tried the babywipe routine as well, thinking it would save me money, then I realized that they weren't flushable. And if the whole reason I'm using them is to clean up after #2 or AF, then they need to be flushable. I also follow the schedule that calliope_muses posted. It works for me.

do you keep the box next to the toilet or is it under your sink and you don't bring it out until you know you will need to use them?

I used to use them. They work great and there great for kids because they clean better. Just an FYI....even the "flushable" aren't very flushable. I developed plumbing problems and when the plumber took off the toilet bowl there were a whole lot of the so-called flushable wipes clogging up the drain. I stopped using them for that reason. I tried to get my older son to only use one or two and flush inbetween but he kept forgetting. I didn't want to end up having plumbing problems again so I just stopped buying them.

I couldn't live without these things. I was using baby wipes for years before they FINALLY invented the grown up, flushable version.

I have my little #2 routine - regular TP first, moist wipes to get good and clean, the regular TP again to 'dry off'. (Don't relish the idea of a wet bum...)

I do the same thing.

We have them sitting on the back of the toilet.

They work great and there great for kids because they clean better.

I totally agree.

I'm surprised to hear that some think they are expensive. I thought they were pretty reasonably priced. Also, after you buy the original box, you can just buy a refill package which is less expensive.

I like the idea of them, but we have a septic tank and shouldn't put anymore solid waste down there than we absolutely need to. The idea of just throwing them out kind of skeeves me.

I really hadn't stopped to consider that the baby wipes might not be flushable like the adult wipes are. Good to know!

I keep the box next to the toilet in a "pretty" box (so it is not so obvious they are sitting there). I also follow calliope_muses's routine. :D

Well, we got 'em and we love 'em. Thanks for all your TMI information! :D

We tried a few, and the ones we like best are Wal-mart's Equate All Purpose Flushable Wipes. They're cheapest, too.
