Just a quick plug for this website -- www.allrecipes.com -- is an AWESOME site. I started cooking a few months ago and I have found tons of great recipes there. The recipes are primarily submitted by the site's users. The best thing is that people review the recipes and give all kinds of great ideas on how they made the recipe more suitable to their taste or to show how they substituted one ingredient for another or whatever. It's fantastic. You can also do "ingredient searches" or search by meal types or cuts of meat or anything you can imagine. You can also set up an account and save your favorite recipes. I've probably made 30 or 40 different recipes from there now and have been pretty happy with all of them.

I love this place as well! I can't even remember how many of their recipes I've used, and everything has turned out great. One of my favorite features is that you can input how many servings you'd like to make and it will adjust the recipe for you!

I too am addicted to allrecipes.com. I don't normally use any other sites. I love reading the recipe reviews and how people changed them the make them better. I can't even count the number of recipes I use from this site and everyone gets rave reviews!!

Bumping up this old thread to ask a question....
Has anyone who uses allrecipes regularly ever submitted a recipe to them? I have a recipe box there and I write reviews & submit food photos and all of that. So, I finally decided to submit a recipe to them, which I did on January 2nd. It's now March 20th and the recipe is still labeled as "under review". Does it normally take this long for a recipe to be reviewed? It sure makes me think I won't bother to submit another one anytime soon.

I submitted one once. It got posted on the site and put into one of the cookbooks, but I could not tell you how long it took.

I tend to go back and forth between AllRecipes & the Cooking Light website. Like others, I don't necessarily follow all of the instructions, but I've found a ton of recipes to use as a jumping-off point.

My favorite at the moment is Pecan Sandies (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Pecan-Sandies/Detail.aspx). I switch butter for the margarine, and halve the amount of pecans mixed into the cookies, but otherwise follow the recipe. It's been a huge hit at family events!

It's Chili by George! (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Its-Chili-by-George/Detail.aspx)
I used to make the black bean chili that Rosebud posted. It's very good but DH & I like ours a little spicier than that is, so I tried Chili by George and it's so yummy! I made it for some friends of ours after they had a baby and they were dying for the recipe. We always cook with ground turkey breast instead of beef, so I subbed it in this recipe and it worked great.
American Lasagna (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/American-Lasagna/Detail.aspx)
I use half ground turkey, half turkey sausage instead of ground beef in this one, and light ricotta instead of full fat. I also add some extra tomato sauce to it because I like a lot of sauce in my lasagna.
Romano Chicken (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Romano-Chicken/Detail.aspx)
Haven't made this one in a while, but it is a quick fix and very good.
Grilled Potatoes and Onions (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Grilled-Potatoes-and-Onion/Detail.aspx)
So good and so easy..I use seasoning salt instead or table salt and EVOO instead of butter.

I belong to another board that only has 30+ members. We all use allrecipes and post reviews on the ones we try.
There are many good ones, but the ones below got two thumbs up from most of our members.
http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Hungarian-Mushroom-Soup/Detail.aspx - mushroom soup. The best one I've ever tasted, by far.
http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Greek-Chicken/Detail.aspx Greek Chicken. Grilled, it's fantastic
http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Italian-Sausage-Soup/Detail.aspx Italian Sausage Soup. Tastes even better the next day.
http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Amys-Cilantro-Cream-Sauce/Detail.aspxCilantro Cream Sauce. This is the first thing I ever tried at Allrecipes and it is by far the best thing I ever made from the site. It is a great sauce for anything mexican...on salads, top of burritos, dip for chips, etc.

Spinach-Stuffed Chicken Breast (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Spinach-Stuffed-Chicken-Breast/Detail.aspx) I omit the bacon and use monterey jack instead of pepperjack cheese.
Mixed Vegetable Casserole (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Mixed-Vegetable-Casserole/Detail.aspx) I use frozen veggies and steam them before mixing it up, and I substitute cream of onion soup for the cream of chicken.
Buffalo Chicken Dip (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Buffalo-Chicken-Dip/Detail.aspx). I omit the Cheddar cheese and use cooked boneless breasts instead of canned chicken and serve with tortilla chips instead of crackers. DH is addicted to this stuff.

Those potatoes are delicious! I know you already made them, but for others make sure you get the milk very thick before adding the cheese. It helps keep the sauce from getting grainy. I minced the onions and added garlic powder and cayenne pepper.
I made the tilapia this week and it's good, but my topping didn't get crunchy. Probably human error, though.

Buckeye Balls II (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Buckeye-Balls-II/Detail.aspx)-Needed a little extra peanut butter, and next time I'd add a little salt to cut the sweetness
The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/The-Best-Rolled-Sugar-Cookies/Detail.aspx) with Sugar Cookie Frosting (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Sugar-Cookie-Frosting/Detail.aspx)- The cookies needed some extra flour because they were too sticky. Besides that they were great.
