Has anyone made plans yet for New Year's Eve? I just sent out an e-mail to my women neighbor friends (some married, some divorced, some parents, some not parents) to see what/if anything anyone is doing that night. I am hoping something pans out with that group as they are a lively silly bunch of friends and IF there were to be a party in the neighborhood at one of our homes, at least it wouldn't be a long drive! Hmm, I suppose I COULD offer to host a party, but my place looks so chaotic right now, I haven't bothered with holiday decor, etc. Otherwise, I guess the plan would to go out and be part of the action somewhere in the city. I feel the rah rah party party thing could fun this year since I'm no longer married. :) I also don't have kids to take care of. The only problem with doing ANYTHING at a bar/club/etc. is that it probably is just a big old waste of money to be with a bunch of loud and obnoxious people.
Anyway, what are YOU planning on doing this year? What have you done in the past that was fun? If you HAVE hosted a New Year's Eve party, what are some fun ideas for a festive party? What about a party that is fun enough for adults yet still kid friendly?
Yes, I realize New Year's is kind of a dumb holiday, but for some reason I feel the need to whoop it up this year, because heck, I want to have a better year!

The past couple of years went to beautiful dinners and then charity balls with the ex. I'll be honest, for as much as I can't stand the guy right now they were fun times.
This year, I'm not sure. My friends are going to Vegas and doing it up big time, but Gio has no interest in that whatsoever. Since I understand his reasons, and as uch as I'd like to do Vegas, it's going to be between Miami (been there done that since this is my hometown, but Gio hasn't), Key West (I would love to see the conch drop at Sloppy Joe's LOL), Orlando (can you say Disney LOL?) and Tampa (which will mean our attendance at the Outback Bowl.)

Oh wow! Can I party with you Heather? (Kidding! ;)) Sounds like you know how to have a good time for that holiday! A charity ball is a cool idea, because even if it costs money, at least it would be going to a good cause. But, alas, I am probably somewhat limited on how much I could budget right now. I would say I'd be cool with going out for wine at a cool bar, but you know how that will go; BIG cover charges EVERYWHERE! By the way, cute dress you posted as a possibility of what you might wear! I think those dresses would be WAY too cold where I live right now however!
One thing for me to keep in mind, I'm not really into dancing. So, probably going to a club with dancing would make the somewhat introverted me feel overwhelmed. The dude I'm seeing isn't into dancing either thank goodness!
I have to say, one of the most fun New Year's Eves I ever had was with my guy friend and my (then) married couple friends (who are now divorced) when we randomly ended up being the only straight people at a gay bar! It was such a fun place! No cover charge either! Oh, and totally spontaneous and NOT planned.

LOL that sounds so awesome! Hmmm, in Key West I could totally see that happening. Hey, I have a guestroom. ;) And it'll be, most likely, warm down here. The more the merrier!
I'm about th experience some of that weather next week, by the way! Well, I'll be in Wisconsin. Yeah, looking forward to the -10 degree weather they're forecasting LOL! ;)

Now why on earth would you be traveling north during this time of the year silly? For your sake, I hope they've plowed the roads sufficiently where you're going! The steep and uphill street my house is on (and also my driveway) FINALLY got plowed yesterday after about 2 or 3 announced snow emergencies, all in the same week! Fun times!

Gio's cousin is getting married in Milwaukee. Well she's marrying a NASCAR racer. Since they only get December and January off, the wedding is in December and the honeymoon is in January then back to racing...I'm like, "Hmmm why didn't they have a nice destination wedding, say in the Bahamas?" I guess it would have been hard to take almost 500 people there just because the cousin's girlfriend is a weather wimp LOL.

I will probably end up having a party here. I'm thinking kids in the gameroom with karaoke and some games, and adults upstairs eating, drinking and being merry. I have a small kitchen or else I would be having parties all the time. I find NYE parties to be some of the easiest to host actually.
I think another cool idea is to have a NYDay brunch.

We went to see an improve comedy troupe a couple of years ago. It was a lot of fun without feeling the need to drink non-stop. We were also on a budget so drinking all night-somewhere with a high cover charge+drinks would have been too much for us.
btw New Years is not a dumb holiday seeing as though it is my birthday ;)

LOL yeah! It was definitely a lot of people, but a lovely wedding, AND I survived the snow! ;)
Okay...so some of my friends are going to Vegas and as much as I would like to go, Gio is not feeling it for various reasons. Soooo in the spirit of compromise we're going to be in Tampa.
This will be a low-key NYE...Busch Gardens (WOO HOO LOL) with some of my friends. We were going to go to the Outback Bowl, but neither of us are really big WI or TN fans, so we'll just probably hang out watching football at Champps or somewhere during the day.
petdoc08 My aunt's b.day is New Year's too, but there is a mistake on her birth certificate. She was born after midnight, thus January 1st, but her birth certificate says December 31st. I always tell her she's lucky. She gets TWO birthdays. :D

So SO did get the tickets to the Outback Bowl. 11am for the game. Now on a normal day 11am isn't so bad. But New Year's Day! Oh I'm gonna be hurting when we wake up for that game (I'm not a morning person to begin with UGH.) He has a friend flying in who taught at both TN and WI, and is a big WI fan. So Raymond James here we come...
1st row tickets, I'm very excited about the possibility of being on TV too.
