This may seem like a dumb question question, but I want to make some cookies and candies for Christmas ahead of time. To keep snacking temptation down and the items fresh, I'd like to freeze them. Can any one suggest the best way to go about this? Can I put these items in our deep freeze?

This isn't exactly what you're asking for, but I make cookie dough in advance and then freeze it. I use a cookie scoop and scoop it onto a cookie tray lined with wax paper. I freeze it for an hour and then take them off the tray and put into a ziplock freezer bag. Then when it's time to bake I put them on the cookie sheet and let them sit at room temp. while the oven heats up.

Ooh... I hadn't thought about doing it that way. Hmm... I may make my cookies that way. Any tips about candy (fudge, buckeyes, etc.)?

No tips on candy, but I freeze baked cookies (in tupperware) as well. But cookies are good frozen, so.... :o

You can either freeze the baked cookies or you can just freeze the dough. If you're going to do frosted cookies, I would freeze them plain and frost them when you're ready to serve them. I would do two layers of something - aluminum foil in plastic bag, plastic bags in tupperware, etc...
You *can* freeze fudge and buckeyes, but IME, the freezing/defrosting processes changes the texture somewhat. Not like that would ever keep me from eating them, though! I would freeze the buckeyes un-dipped.
They would actually probably do better in your deep freeze as the temp is usually more constant than a fridge freezer.
