DH would like a Panini Press for Christmas - any suggestions? We would like a larger surface on which we can also make hamburgers as well as sandwiches. Easy clean up would also be a plus.

I have the Wolfgang Puck Pannini Maker and its great! Use it everyday for everything. Cooked some apple slices in it the other day and they turned out fantastic.
I have cooked chicken, hamburgers, hotdogs, sausages, steak, fish, veggies, and you must try the bacon! Its quick and easy has removable plates for cleaning although don't put them in the dishwasher they start to lose the nonstickness. They are still easy to clean though. You can fit large sandwiches in it because its open in the back with the hindge in the center on the sides.
I know I sound like I work for them but it is really great! Got mine from HSN but I believe they also have them on ebay. If you get it be sure to put the plates in correctly or they will fall off when you lower the lid. Slide it into the clips at the bottom and make sure you hear the click at the top.
I got his smaller one $39.90 to just try it out see how it works but I plan on getting the bigger one now that I can't live without it.
Between that and his reversible grill griddle I haven't turned on my oven in months!
Okay I'm done. LOL :o

I was looking at the Cusinart grill/griddle and actually preferred it to the Breville - but the Breville has been getting so much press and actually wanted to hear about it as well.

I have the one by Krups. I love it but it doesn't have the removeable plates or anything.

Funny, I just ordered my DH this one based on Amazon reviews. Cuisinart GR-1 Griddler Panini and Sandwich Press (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CPZXGO)
Oddly, it now says it's "currently unavailable," but I bet you could find a similar one.

I'm with looch - the Griddler by Cuisinart is awesome! We've had ours for a little over a year now - received it as a wedding gift from BB&B - and use it all the time. The only drawback seems to be the lower griddle plate seems to be wearing out (a testament to my Griddler love) . . . anyone know if you can get replacement plates?!

I use a george forman grill. Just the little one which can handle 1 sandwich at a time. I already had it and I prefer multitasking something already in my kitchen. Or you can use 2 cast iron pans. Just something out of the box to consider.

I guess we are supporting Oprah insanity, but we just received this as a gift:

haven't used it yet, though. I wasn't supposed to unwrap it until Xmas! :o
