I drew my little sister's name for Christmas, and she mentioned that she'd like a really good food processor. Since the one I (infrequently) use is a blender/processor mix that was a wedding gift, I can't even fathom how to buy a nice, quality FP. I'd love any input you "foodies" could pass on! TIA.

If you want to keep it more affordable, I'd highly recommend this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Hamilton-Beach-70590-14-Cup-Processor/dp/B00065L68Y/ref=pd_bbs_sr_4?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1196562238&sr=8-4

At $50, you can't beat the price. I've had a hamilton beach for years and its been great (just don't wash any parts in the lower part of the dishwasher or it will warp). I bought this exact model for a friend of ours, and he LOVES it. If my hamilton still wasn't working (my model is smaller) I would upgrade to this one.

If style matters to you, and perhaps a bit higher quality all in all, then I would go with one of these (the cup size is the main difference):

This one comes in different colors:

I have the third one jeepgirl just posted - the Kitchen Aid with different color choices (mine's red :)). It's great - easy to clean, quiet enough, works well, and it has this neat little bowl you can put in the big one to do small batches in quickly and with less to wash.
