Charting Our Course to the BFPs
http://www.ripleysorlando.com/images2/fertilitystatues.jpg
The fertility statues are known to work for some who rub them around the time of possible conception.
It is said that the baby is the most potent part of the statue.
So rub away! :D It's worth a shot!
Who we are:
This is a group of women using charting (temperatures, CM, CP, OPK/FM results, or a combination of these) to try to conceive and, along the way, are learning a heckuvalot about their own bodies! Many of us use a software program to keep track of our charts as well as allowing us to share them with each other. The most common ones are FertitlityFriend.com and Ovusoft.com.
Your threadmistresses for this thread are

To our members:
This thread gets very busy at times, so in order to keep things less overwhelming and a bit more organized, we start a new thread every month. A link to the new thread is always posted at the end of the current thread to help everyone find their way over. The threadmistresses would really appreciate it if everyone would post their updates in Red. That way, if we get a bit behind, it is much quicker to get the thread up-to-date.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!
Want to join the fun??
We welcome one and all. It doesn't matter if you have never charted before or if you've been charting to avoid. I am sure you will find lots of help and support in this group.
If you would like to join, CD1 is the time to do it! That way, we can cheer you on throughout your cycle, rather than 2 days before you test! (Also, note that if you join us during your 2ww and you get a BFP that cycle, you will not be listed as a graduate.)
Please don't be discouraged by the number of posts in this thread. You don't have to read the whole thread to join. Feel free to just jump in on the last page. Just read through these first couple of posts and post a reply with the following information and we will get you added right away. Of course, none of this info is a must but we like to know a little bit about one another.

How to link a chart from Fertility Friend:

Things I Have Learned About TTC
by WC's Sherylb
* TTC is a journey. You will discover things about yourself that you never expected. You will face fears you never thought you had. You will find joy in little things.
* TTC can bring you closer to your DH, or it can pull you apart. If your marriage is not solid, you will find out quickly.
* No one understands exactly what you are feeling at any given moment, but someone can empathize at least a little bit.
* You will experience an emotional roller coaster ride. There will be highs and lows and fast moments and slow. Sometimes you have to wait in a very, very slow moving line. You may not even get the seat you want. It is not always fun, it can be scary, but in the end it is worth it.
* "Just relax" is the last thing in the world you want to hear from someone, but it is OK if you say it about yourself.
* There will be moments when you question your own decision to start TTC. You will wonder if you should wait or if you should just give up. Those are normal. But you will get past those feelings.
* The blue and green turtle likes to pop its head out! You will hear of someone's pregnancy and turn green with envy and blue inside because it isn't you.
* It isn't fair, it isn't easy, and it isn't pretty. But you keep doing it because the reward is worth it.
* You will be your best friend and your worst enemy. Your body will surprise you and yet disappoint you.
* Some women do get lucky and conceive right away. Others aren't so lucky and have to struggle to get there. Hopefully you will be in the first category, but prepare yourself to be in the second.
* Once you decide to TTC, there will be babies and pregnant women everywhere! You could swear there is a baby boom going on!
* You will have questions. No one will ever be in exactly your position, so don't be surprised when no one can give you exactly the answer you are looking for. But there are people that can contribute, so don't be afraid to ask!
*Two lines on a pregnancy test is not the end of the struggle. Pregnancy has lots of struggles in and of itself.

Welcome to December. Let's finish off this year with a lot of BFPs!
Post away!
Yeah!! A new thread, thanks for the new digs TM.
Here's to lots of BFPs this holiday season!
Sorry all those who AF found, it is so not fair.
Good luck and fingers crossed for those waiting to test. I see some good charts out there. ;)
ABirney-yeah for a 14mm follie!! Good luck on Tuesday with the IUI.
Taylandra-sorry about the BFN...that is a bummer.
jill-i hope we get our BFPs together this month, that would be terrific!!
sea- i hope we can get the hat trick!! I'm sorry about the spotting, but perhaps it is ovulation spotting this time?!? Keep thinking good thoughts and praying that this is it!
kemaji-hope you are having fun on your trip! Looking forward to hearing that you got your BFP while on the west coast!
Sorry to those I missed.
me- TM-please move me to I think I've O'd, testing 12/9-12/15. Knowing what a POAS addict I am I am sure I'll be testing way before then. But maybe if I say that I will wait, it will actually work this time.:D
I'm a little bummed because FF called O a day earlier than I thought it would be and now my chances are only listed as "good" rather than "high" because of not the best BD schedule.
Also, work next week is going to be INSANE, we're talking 20 hour days and very stressful stuff so I am thinking that is probably not the best for implantation and that this cycle will be a bust. Can someone say "Debbie Downer"?!?:D
I guess the flip side is that the 2ww will be better because I won't be focused on FPS.
Good luck in December everyone
Taylandra

Hello new thread-thanks, TM, for getting this one started!
Still trying to figure out what's happening. You may want to move me to the next testing group. After the small amount of spotting yesterday morning, I still have no sign of AF and no BFP. I'll just hang out a few days and if there is still nothing by the first part of next week, I'll go buy a test and try again.
Here's to a successful month of BFP's for everyone!

Good evening girls. I am just sitting here at my home all along cause Dh is working! So, its freezing rain here in South suburbs of Chicago as well. I was at my moms house when it started to get shitty and my car was one big huge block of ice. Luckly I have my trailblazer, and it got me home all nice and safe. So now I have a good drink (cherry McGullcudies and sprite mmmm so good) and wathching a Justin Timerblake concert on HBO. Couldn't be a better night. I have the candles burining, and just listening to some good music and along with some awesome choergraphy! Coudn't be a better night. Well it would if DH was her,e but you know.
Sea~I hope you made it out nice and safely. I hope you have a great trip. Sorry about the spotting. Have your cycles always been this way?

ABirney~Don't you just love this winter weather crap. I want to move to Fl. I wish you lots of luck tomorrow on your IUI. I hope yoru first time is all you need.

Oh wow, December already!
chi - good luck in the 2ww! I'll think positive for you!
Taylandra - I hope you get that BFP in the next few days. The wait sounds frustrating!
Jill - I'm so sorry to hear the news about your MIL. I'm wishing you lots of luck in the 2ww!
MizLarner - best of luck in the 2ww!
Annette - way to go, and yay for fertile CM!
sea74 - happy anniversary and have a great trip!
missy - so sorry about AF. Hope this next cycle will be the one for you!
dancn - sounds like a cozy night! Enjoy!
So, I'm on CD4, and my temperature has been exactly the same for the past four days. Has this happened to anyone else? It just seems odd. I've had two or three days of the same temp in the past, but never four days. I thought maybe my thermometer was running out of batteries, but I tested it later in the day and got a different temp, so... it looks like my body is just being really monotonous. What's up with that?

Okay, here's the link to my chart
http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/186913
My cycle is messed up. I started AF late, and my temps haven't dropped....grrrr....I'm frustrated. I normally wouldn't think ANYTHING about it but in TCOYF they have a chart that shows 'starting your period' and temps not dropping. They said to watch it closely. The girl in the book ended up being pg, they have no idea what happened. But she carried a complete pregnancy.
mindy-Wacky cycles are the worst. Does AF always show up on the same day? I "usually" have 31 day cycles, but I have been known to have a 28 or 34 day cycle also and my temps usually stay above the coverline until at least CD 6....However, you would probably know better than me since you have been charting longer, but I thought I would chime in with my experience.
Annette

mindy-give it a few days for your temps to drop. Maybe the progesterone is still working its way out of your system. Do you have symptoms you normally wouldn't have during your AF?
MMH-Yeah, same here. Hope you get that BFP!
hunbun-Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question. I've had similar temps for 4 days, but not the same.
dancn-Glad to hear you enjoyed your evening.

I'm jealous of your snowstorm, girls! We just got back from chilly NYC to our boringly average weather in VA. No gloves needed, even.
I hear you. No sun, rain, snow, warm, or cold, just a blah partly cloudy day. Have fun in NYC? DH parents live in Northern New York so we always drive around NYC to avoid traffic but it would be nice to visit someday. Good luck this month despite not temping!

You can have our lovely northern IL weather, girls! Take it! Please! :D
Hate this snow, hate the ice storm of last night, and I would never complain if I never saw another white Christmas! Can you tell I'm a summer girl? :D
I'm CD...something. LOL. Can't remember, but it's like 12 or 13 or something I think. I think I'll be Oing soonish, seeing EWCM today and last cycle it started about a week before O day, which was CD20. I go to the dr Thurs so we can discuss any further steps to take at this point.

TM, please move me to Waiting to O. After spotting occ. today, I think I'm finally starting AF. I overrode my chart b/c I really do think I O'd on CD16, not CD13. It makes more sense to me now. So long as I O around that same time this month, I will be able to avoid having to BD at the IL's over Christmas. Then I can hope for a BFP on New Year's Eve!
Welcome, Mindy! Hope your stay is short!
I hear some of you on wanting snow...My DH takes me to Ice! at Opryland every year b/c it's the closet I'll get to being surrounded by snow here. My friends in WI just got 3 inches or so and I'm incredibly jealous!
Have a good beginning of the week!

Mindy, those temps sound frustrating. Isn't it irritating when our bodies seem to give mixed signals?
Sorry about AF, Taylandra. But! Hooray for possibly not having to BD at your ILs house this month! LOL. That is a silver lining, huh?
Well, my temps went out of their little rut today, which I consider to be a good thing. I don't know if there's anything wrong with having the same temperature four days in a row, but it was starting to annoy me! Haha. :P
I typed a response yesterday and I forgot to hit submit!
I didn't test today, but I did yesterday and got a BFN, so I'm going to wait and test tomorrow. Dealing with a layer of ice everywhere this morning...

HeatherGood luck not temping.
GoddessTiffGood luck at the Dr. Thurs.
I'm sure I missed people still so sorry to those I missed. I am pessimistic today. I don't like the fact that my temps are soaring up to the top of the chart. I also wish I could have started charting before we were actually TTC so I would know what my body is like. But DH wasn't ready yet and was terrified it would happen off BCP so I am plunged into wanting it so badly and not knowing and learning and impatience etc. So I will try to be in a better mood ..... just not today. (which makes me think AF is coming too with the grouchiness)
Good luck to all!

I didn't end up testing when I was in CA because my temp plunged yesterday. I have been expecting AF to arrive at any minute and will be surprised if it doesn't arrive by the end of the day. I'm a little surprised my temp hasn't dropped any further this morning, but I'm not sure how accurate any of my temps were for the past week because of the travel and time change.
Kopper -- I'm so sorry.
ABirney -- I hope your IUI goes well today!
Julss -- My fingers are still crossed for you!
Taylandra -- If you're really stressed, your O can definitely be delayed, as can the onset of AF, etc.

I just updated my chart. Thanks for the reminder! I tested yesterday, and it was negative. I didn't temp this morning because I had to get up two and a half hours earlier than I normally do, so I don't know if my temp is still high today. No AF like symptoms yet, though. Hi everyone, not really in the mood for so's so I will be back later for them. I started a new job I have been doing temp work since, I have the dance studio. So I am working at ExxonMobil. Not a very fun place to work in a refinary, but whatever right, a check is a check. So, I haven't temped in two days because I have to be up at like 530 compaired to my 700 hour. So, needless to say I don't know what is up. AF is supposed to be here on thurs. I dont' believe this is our month. I just don't even feel anything. So, we will see.
Hi Everyone-
I have been lurking the past couple of months and have finally gotten over my shyness and decided to join. I really thought last cycle was it- I had all kinds of FPS that I never had before. But obviously, no luck. I am feeling better about things now. Our anniversary is coming up on the 30th and I would LOVE a BFP! :)

Ladies, thanks for the affirmation about stress and O. I'm really going to do all that I can the next two weeks to make sure that I stay relaxed...I want to O around my usual time so I can test before the end of the month! We don't have our state survey at this moment, but we are dealing with the ramifications of another facility that just had their survey and my boss is super worried for when our window opens at the end of the month. For her to be worried really worries me b/c she has been through 20-25 years of surveys, with and without the Feds. You can't control the whole world though, right? One day at a time!
Good luck to those testing (I'll be stalking your chart, ABirney) and many  to those who AF found.

ABirney - crossing my fingers for you that this is your month!
Jillybean and Kemaji - sorry AF showed :(
Have my day 8 u/s tomorrow to see where I am. Have had major EWCM the last 2 days which is really early for me

Threadmistress- PLease move me to Think I O'd, second testing group please.
MMH-Sorry that your DH isn't on board.
jillybean & kemaji-Sorry about AF.
Abirney-glad your IUI went well. I really hope you are pg this cycle. It looks like we are cycle buddies.
There are some pretty charts out there. Good luck to those testing soon.
me-FF finally called O. This 2ww is going to kill me! I really want a BFP. I hope to test on 11dpo (next friday), so I can go get b/w done before next weekend. I want to get on supplements ASAP if I need to.

Just dropping by to say I'm still around :) AF is due on Tuesday, but I'm crossing my fingers. My temps are still going up - I was down last night and told myself I wasn't going to be hopeful anymore unless I went up to 98.1.. and this morning I am at 98.08. The only thing is, I'm one that doesn't have temp drops when AF comes, so I don't have that to look for. My temps were all high right before AF last month. On the upside, my temps are not as erratic as they were last month.

TM, Can you move me to Waiting to O?
Sorry to all those that AF found. Big bummer.
ABirney-[B]I definitely will be chart stalking you, I have fingers and toes crossed for you and have a good feeling about you this month!! I am glad that DH is excited and best wishes that the IUI took!
[B]mel- good luck with the u/s tomorrow.
sue-[B]I'm thinking SBV for you!!
Good luck to all those who are testing. [B]Wen, I especially like the looks of your chart. When might you be testing??
I am 8 DPO with NO symptoms at all. I am not feeling positive AT ALL with this cycle. I keep telling myself it is okay, but I know I'll be devastated when AF shows her ugly face.
I was feeling very good about myself because I hadn't even THOUGHT of POAS. Well, I couldn't control myself this morning and I did it. UGH. Of course it was a BFN. I needed sunglasses to protect from the glare. UGH.
ETA: Anyone see Private Practice last night? I was SO irritated by how simple they made it all seem.

MMHinCA - Sorry your DH isn't on board. :(
Good luck to all those that just O'd and in the 2WW. Hope to see a lot of BFPs soon!
Sorry for those that AF found. :(
me - Thank you all for the support. I have been trying to read along but not really in the posting mood. Just hanging out and trying to figure out what the heck is going on. My temp is still really high and no spotting AT ALL. I haven't tested for two days b/c it was drinving me nuts. I talked to the MW and if I haven't had anything happen and still getting BFNs in by the week of the 17th she will send me for an u/s. The good news is that it's only $100. We got approved for private insurance and have 45 days to sign. If I'm not pregnant I will take it otherwise I will go on Cobra. I still have 80+ days to sign up for that. I did buy some FRER tests yesterday and am deciding if I should take one tomorrow. Any thoughts on my chart or when I should test?

Kooper, your chart does have an upward trend...I say test with FMU tomorrow!
Chi - I tested this morning b/c I really needed some good news. (tons of bad news lately on both sides of the family) and BFN. 11DPO. I guess I didn't remember my cycle ever lasting this long so who knows what my body is doing. I was super proud of myself for waiting 11 days. FF says to wait to test until the 14th. I knew that wouldn't happen.
Wen-I'm so sorry for all the bad news. I hope things brighten up soon!
Kopper-fingers crossed for your next test. Yeah for the insurance approval!
jellybeany-even DH was irritated. He was yelling at the TV with me! He has been trained so well. :D
I had lunch with a PG friend (who of course got PG their first month of trying) who did the whole "it will happen when it is supposed to happen". That made me feel good.
Well, I tested again last night and this morning and got a BFP both so I guess all is OK. I called my MW and I have an appointment next week, I'm due for my annual anyway... Now to convince my DH who doesn't think that HPT's are accurate
Wen I tested at 10DPO with a BFN, then tested again on 12DPO with a BFP, definitely give it a day or so.
Kopper Temps are still up, hope you get good news soon!
MMH I'm sorry :(
chi I have no symptoms at all, except for some weird cramping... so there is always hope until AF arrives!
Sorry to anyone I missed...

I tell you, ladies, I am SO confused with my cycle! I totally wish I had charted the past week!!! I thought my CM had dried up (and it did for 1.5 days) but then the EWCM came back with a vengeance and hasn't left! That said, my temp was sky high today (the highest it's ever been for a CD23)... I have no clue if I've ovulated or not, so I guess just keep me where I am in the waiting to test!

dancn - I'm sorry :( I would definitely try to schedule an appointment now since some REs can be really backed up
Sue - that's fantastic! Good luck!
Wen - sorry about the BFN :( Give it another day or 2
So I had 3 follies this AM on the left ovary and my cyst has shrunk! And 2 on the right and it looks like it will be that side but most likely it will only be one follie again :( Will know more tomorrow

Heather- I checked out your chart, and Im going to say that you most likely O'ed on CD 22....given the EWCM, and now the temp jump, Im sure you will see a high temp tomorrow too, try to temp if you can. Testing around the 16-17th of Dec makes sense to me.
Sue-congrats again, that is terrific.
wen- fingers still crossed for you.
jelly-welcome to the 2ww. I wish you good luck!
heather-i agree with katie. Tomorrow's temp should be informative.
dancn- i am so sorry. i agree you should start making calls for the RE to make sure that you can get in when it is good for you.
mel- i'm glad that the cyst has shrunk. looking forward to your news tomorrow.
me- 9 DPO, still no symptoms. I broke down and tested again. I know it is likely too early, but I just can't help myself. :( The problem is that I get all sad when it is a glaring BFN, but I am just so impatient. What is wrong with me?!?! Wishing all testers out there the best of luck and much more resistance than I am able to give to the POAS urges!!

Hi girls,
I'm going Christmas shopping this morning for DH while he is at school so no time for SOs, be back later.
I've been having very light spotting the past two days with a temp. plunge today so AF should be arriving shortly. I wasn't expecting AF until Tuesday but I guess the earlier the better so we can move onto TTC this month and possibly test by New Years. I won't be testing this cycle unless my temp. goes back up.
We were watching, "She's Having a Baby" last night, and I was thinking I hope I never become as neurotic as his wife, but I'm sure it's bound to happen:rolleyes:. Anyone catch the Dr. Phil show Thursday? I can't stand him but they were talking about women who want a baby and for whatever reason (husband doesn't want kids, infertility problems, ect....) are unable to and how that creates problems in the marriage because of spouses not agreeing. Luckily DH and I both want to TTC but we both have different attitudes about it. My attitude is to make this happen asap so we can move onto the next step, but DH is more laid back and doesn't seem to care when it happens whether it be 6-12 months from now as long as it does eventually. If we were much younger I think I'd have a more casual attitude but considering we want at least two kids we don't have a lot of time to waste. Anyway didn't mean to rant. Good luck to all those testing soon! Happy healthy 9 months to Sue and Kopper!

Okay girls, since I am going to go against what my dr. says with staying on the clomid and taking it for two more cycles, how do I find an RE in my location? I have PPO ins. so I am not worried about a referral. But I want to get all this stuff scheduled so I can get on with this stuff.
Let me know if there is link anywhere that I can get to find a dr. in this area?
TIA!!!!

I'm no help with RE findings - don't even really know what RE stands for..
I'm going to a playdate with the babies this morning, and then going to watch The Nutcracker this afternoon.
I'm excited about my chart! I hd a huge temp jump this morning - from 98.18 yesterday to 98.44 today.

dancn-Usually your insurance company website will have a doctor search on it somewhere. I would start there. You can always ask your current ob for recommendations. good luck!
mizlarner-have fun at the nutcracker. yay for the temp jump.
julss-sorry about AF's pending arrival.
ocean-hope you caught that egg!
chi-sorry about the bfn. It probably is too early to test. how long is your typical LP?
mel-hope you get some good news on your follies
heather-i say you O'd on cd22.
Good luck to all those testing soon.
me: I ended up with a headache last night and it's continued on till this morning and I feel so groggy too. My bbs are already sore and that normally doesn't happen till 8 or 9 dpo. I hope next week goes fast cause I don't think I can be patient waiting to test.
dancn- I too am no help with finding a RE. Maybe just go onto your insurance company's website and see what you can find?
MizLarner-yeah for the temp spike, that is always good news.
annette- maybe the headache and early sore bbs are a good sign. I always like to think that when there is a new symptom (such as early sore bbs) that it is a positive thing...maybe this is it. Fingers crossed.
ocean-Good luck. I hope you caught your eggie.
juls- boo on the impending arrival of AF.
me- 10DPO and another BFN. I am not going to test for a few days. My usual LP is about 13 days. Tonight is my work xmas party and I wanted to test to see if I had an answer before I even thought about having a drink or two tonight.

Just checking in... I will be back much sooner than I originally anticipated. My OB gave me the go ahead to TTC after 1 (woohoo) cycle. Now come on AF!!! I never thought I would say that.
Question for you girls who have been TTC or have conceived after a m/c. Does temping/charting indicate anything between m/c (or d&c) and AF arriving? (i.e. temp drop) Any help advice you can give is appreciated!!!

dancn- i just did a search for infertility clinics in my area, and the OBGYN's they list there are usually RE's. Once i had some names, i searched the insurance directory to see if they participated, it was so much easier that way for me.I did find that my insurance website didnt differentiate between OB and RE. hope that helps

Sigh.....AF showed today. We are going to TTC this cycle but I really need a break from charting. I think temping is what screwed me up this past cycle making me think I ovulated earlier than I did. Maybe if I pay more attention to my body I'll have better luck:confused:. I'll be back in January for testing! May come out from lurking to post a little;). Wish you all the best this month! Happy Holidays:).

CONGRATS SUE!!!!! :D H&H 9 months and beyond!
Waving HELLO to everyone! :D I really missed checking in on you all while I was gone. DH and I had an amazing time on vacation and it was *just* what we needed. The weather was perfect but now we're back to freezing cold temps  Also, I spotted off and on while we were away, but not the whole time, which was nice. I even got my hopes up but my temp DOVE today :(
As a side note has anyone picked up Newsweek? I grabbed one at the airport this morning because the whole front cover was a PG chick and the title was Fertility & Diet: How what you eat affects your odds of getting PG I'd recommend it to anyone dealing w/hormonal fertility challenges/unexplained. The article was very lengthy and informative. It talks about a study that was recently done and it sounds like it was one of the first of it's kind. I eat pretty well and I love grainy breads/carbs. I also only eat fat-free dairy from milk, to yogurt, to cheese, salad dressing, sour cream, butter, etc. I guess there's a link to consuming fat-free dairy and what they call "ovulatory infertility," which accounts for 1/4 or more of all cases of infertility and it's a problem related to the maturation or release of a mature egg. I also read this "fat-free" dairy link and infertility in another magazine at my RE's office this summer. Let's just say I'm going to be switching to whole milk for awhile. Anyway, it's really worth the read.

Sea -- I've read that article too and found it very interesting, especially the part about how removing the fat can change the hormonal make up of the product and when we consume it, ourselves. I read elsewhere that cholesterol, which is present in fats, is an important item for hormone production. After the brain, our endocrine glands (adrenals and sex glands) consume the most cholesterol in the body. This includes much of our hormone production including progesterone, testosterone and a number of other hormones.
Anyway. I don't drink a lot of milk, but I've made the switch to whole milk also. I've always preferred the taste of whole milk so I may not switch back. I don't do non-fat dairy (don't like the way it tastes), so this isn't a huge switch for me.

I've actually been eating "high" fat for a year, myself. Although, I started on it after I read the books "Nourishing Traditions: The Cookbook that Challenges Politically Correct Nutrition" and "The Maker's Diet."
Over the years, we've all been fed a lot of fibs about fat and cholesterol in the diet. They've been villainized, when really, they're so much more necessary (and in so much larger quantities!) than we ever thought.
To get my cholesterol and fat, I've been eating one egg fried in butter every morning, along with a boiled egg on my spinach salad at lunch, and plenty of full-fat yogurts & cheeses every day! Funny thing is, my blood cholesterol levels are lower than ever, and I've gone from a size 8 to a size 4. The fact that it's good for fertility makes me all the more happy!

Fun day at home today:rolleyes: No work because my school district is closed, but I've got a sick boy. I think my 8yo has the flu. At least we still have our power!
I tested yesterday, BFN, and I'm scheduled to start AF today, but my temps are still up. I'm feeling slightly crampy and nauseated, but those could either be pg or my endo. At least I have testing out of my system for a while, I don't have any more tests in the house and I'm not taking my 8yo with me to get a pg test, even when he's not sick!
So last week FF took my crosshairs away. This really bummed me out at the time. Well after this morning's temp they are back. AF still hasn't shown up. I don't know what that means yet though b/c before BCP my cycle wasn't very normal. We'll see I guess. I am going to try to wait until Friday to test again. I am still holding out hope. Thanks for all the warm wishes from everyone. I'm sorry for no SO's this time but work is crazy. Good luck to everyone about to test. I know there are a ton of us POAS this week. It's like a virtual POAS marathon!:D
sea-WELCOME BACK!! We missed you around here!!
mel- good luck with the IUI today!
mizlarner- sorry about the BFN and your son's flu. Poor little guy must not be feeling well at all.
wen-yeah for rising temps!
Annette-I'm sending you all the patienence I didn't have to wait to test. I did POAS yesterday and it was a BFN. Followed by a HUGE temp dive today (12DPO) so I am pretty confident that I am out.
me This cycle has just felt different than the others, so I was holding out hope that it was different for a very special reason. Alas, today is 12DPO and I had a HUGE temp dive (which is also out of the ordinary for me). I am also a little crampy so I suspect AF is on her way into town.
This will mark our 4th cycle TTC. All cycles have been with the assistance of a FM or OPKs, so I am pretty sure they have been well timed. I know there is a small chance each cycle of success, but I am starting to worry that something is wrong with one of us and I feel like we are rapidly running out of time (I am 33 and DH is 36) Anyone have any advice on how long to wait or next steps? My OB/GYN thinks all is fine b/c I had an u/s which was normal, followed by baseline Day 3 and 7DPO b/w. I got back the Day 3 b/w and that was normal, still waiting for the results for the 7DPO b/w.
Sorry for the long post. I am just feeling REALLY down today about this whole thing. I spent a good part of my 20's and 30's trying not to get PG and now, I can't even though I want to, and know that we would make good parents. I know this is not a rationale thought, but I kind of feel like we are being punished for waiting till we were ready. Does that make sense? In my mind I know in the end there is a plan for us and we just have to sit tight, but my heart just breaks as each cycle passes.
I guess the silver lining is that I was actually was kind of bummed that if we had been successful these last cycles it would have resulted in summer babies. As a former school teacher I always felt badly for the kids with the summer bdays! Now, we will hopefully have a Fall birthday.
MizLarner
12-10-2007, 09:23 AM
My son seems to be doing better, so I don't know if it even is flu. Still no AF yet, so I may be testing again on Saturday. Actually I just bought 5 FRERs on ebay (which reminds me, I need to pay for those..) so I'll just use one whenever they come in. IF AF doesn't come. They expire next month, so I'll probably use all of them fairly quickly :p
Chi - That's kind of amusing that you felt sorry for summer birthday kids! I just say this because I am a teacher, and I would rather have my kids' birthdays in the summer so I can spend the time with them! I have two summer birthdays (June and July) and an October birthday that's on our second fall conference day, which is a half-day of conferences for us. I felt lucky! :) My 8yo never seemed to mind having a summer birthday, either. And I felt relieved that I didn't have to worry about inviting the entire class, especially since our extended family has a bunch of kids anyway.

chi - most doctors won't do much until you have been trying for a year unless you are over 35 then its 6 months. Has your DH been in for a SA?
My DH is 44 and even though I am only 31 I also feel we are running out of time. We have been trying for almost 2 years and all testing has come out fine for us we are just unexplained. i would give it a couple more months and then go back to your doctor and see about a SA and maybe an HSG.
Wen - I think FF gave you the crosshairs because of the major temp drop the day before. its not real clear if you O'd or not
Mizlarner - temp still being up is a good thing :)
kanga - hope you have recovered from your wisdom teeth.
IUI went well but I am really cramping again. Had between 2-3 follies and DH's count was almost double last time so that's good news!

Wen- I think that perhaps this cycle is annovulatory. It doesnt look like clear temp shift. Hopefully you will have an answer soon.
Mel, Hope you get your BFP for Christmas!
Chi- I went to my doc after 6 months, so you could make an appt now for Feb just in case you dont get pg in the next 2 months...at least you wouldnt have to wait for the appt then.

Mel: I SO, SO hope you get a BFP on Christmas Eve!!!! It would be special ANY time, but that just seems a little more magical!
Chi: I went off the pill July '06. DH and I "tried" for a couple of months and then stopped due to work reasons (if I had only known how much trouble TTC would be we would not have stopped trying ). Then in November we started TTC again. I had my annual exam in early January and brought all my charts w/me which over that 6 month time span was 9 cycles. I have, and have always had, VERY short cycles. My GYN knew my short cycle history and said we'd start doing Clomid/progesterone that cycle. I feel VERY lucky to have had a Dr. who doesn't really put stock into the the "12 months trying under 35" and "6 months trying over 35" rule when helping women. What he believes is if there is an evident problem, like my short cycles and constant spotting, there is no reason to wait.
I know 4 months seems like an lifetime to wait, but your dr. may think otherwise. If you have that gut feeling like you need help, be firm w/your doctor. If your doctor doesn't listen, find one who will. I may come off a little extreme but if I had been made to wait the 12 months because I'm under 35 ... well, where would we be now? I did my first fertility treatment in January and here it is 12 months later and I'm STILL not PG :( I guess my point is listen to your gut. It's more than likely there is NOTHING wrong and you will conceive soon but also listen to what your body is saying.
mpc863 When I get my first Peak reading I try to BD around 5:00 p.m. and no later than 8:00 p.m. Then I'm in bed the rest of the night. The next day I try and BD as soon as DH is ready again. For me though, I have found that more times than not I O on the day of the first Peak reading, but not always. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!
Thanks for the welcome back ladies! I really missed checking in here every day! But I will say, being on vacation and away from the Web for the 2ww was heaven. I told DH we'll have to go on vacation every 2ww from now on!:p
When we were at Animal Kingdom we passed a big stork. I stopped and started talking to him. I told him I'd been waiting for him to make a special delivery to my home and I was getting tired of waiting. As we were leaving I rattled off our address to him just to be sure ;) And yes, my DH was slightly embarrassed ...

sea, thanks for the advice. unfortunately, i won't be home from work until close to 10. it will have to do! i have pulled out all the stops this cycle, including pre-seed and instead cups. i hope all of the "assistance" works!
sea, mel and katie-thanks for the words of wisdom. I'm really fortunate to have a doctor who is super proactive. I mentioned off the cuff the last time I was there that I was afraid I might have PCOS. He said he didn't think so, but sent me for b/w and an u/s just to make sure. At the time he also told me that DH should go get a SA. We just haven't done that b/c it wouldn't be covered under insurance and b/c I didn't want DH to think that there was something "wrong with him." I guess it is time to get that done, since I was wrong, this was our 5th cycle, the first was without any charting or timing assistance. It will be just one more piece to the puzzle.
mel-love the stork story, and by the way, I TOTALLY would have done the same thing.
mpc863- I usually just make sure not to waste too many hours between BDing on those two days. I usually follow a schedule similar to sea.
Thanks for the welcome everyone!
I am in the boring part of my cycle right now. This month I have grape juice, OPKs, and FRER tests so at least I feel prepared! :)
I am in the same boat as some of the previous posters. I'm 33, but DH just turned 40. This is our 4th cycle TTC. I think I will try to get in to see the Dr in February if I'm not pregnant yet. I think there is a strong possibility that I have endometriosis and I feel stupid for not going in YEARS ago and being more forceful about getting checked.
Sea74 (I think that was you who mentioned it)- thanks for mentioning the Newsweek article- I think I will pick that up. Does it say anything about 1% dairy products/part skim/lower fat, or is it just the FF? I don't do the FF but I do use a lot of lower fat dairy.
Heather - I think I will pick up that "Nourishing Traditions" book too. It sounds good!
Good luck to everyone this month! If I ovulate when I typically do, I think I'll be testing on X-Mas too! We'll see.

gia: It talked about the benefit being from FULL-FAT milk (and milk sources like ice cream :D ) while both skim and low-fat milk contributed to ovulatory infertility.

Ohhh, I am WAY behind here! The holidays are such a busy time. I'm going to try to catch up on shoutouts from the last few pages, but please forgive me, because I'm sure I'll miss someone. I've been away from this thread for too long!
mel and Annette and MizLarner and anyone else testing in the near or semi-near future - Good luck!! I'm sending good thoughts to you all.
mpc863 - Yay for a peak reading! That's so exciting. I don't know the answer to your question about BD timing, but I wish you tons of luck!
chi- I empathize with feeling down about each unsuccessful cycle. We're only on our third cycle, but it just seems like forever. This is the sucky part of TTC, I guess.
sea74 - Welcome back! That's such a cute story about the stork.
Jill - Hope you're having a great time on your cruise!
Puglover - Welcome!! I was an April 02 bride too- one week after you. Did you post on the WC back then?
Re: that Newsweek article... I read it with great interest. I'm not sure what to do with the advice about dairy, though, as I'm lactose intolerant! Oh well. I had half a slice of cheesecake tonight. I hope it operates on the same principle as ice cream. :p (Actually, I'm cutting back on sugar a lot during TTC... but everyone needs a little splurge now and then, right?)

sea - I love the stork story, that is just so funny! My DH would have just walked away and pretended he didn't know me :p
chi - that's fantastic that your doctor is so proactive. I think the SA is in the $200 range if you have to pay for it yourself. Most insurance companies pay for it if you go to their lab.
ABirney - fingers crossed for you!!
Welcome puglover!!
mpc - hope you caught that egg!

jill-hope you're having fun on the cruise. Hope you bring back a nice surprise :)
Pug & Gia-welcome!
Good luck to those testing soon.
question-Does the value of post O temp correlate to how much progesterone your body produces? My post O temps have been hovering in the 98.1-98.3 range and I'm worried that if I am pg, it won't be very sticky. Other cycles of mine, it's been in the 98.4-.5 range. I'm worried that cause my bbs got sore earlier, I might have a shorter LP. I hate worrying about this. All I want is a very sticky pg that lasts 9 months this time. Is that too much to ask?

I started spotting :( i wiped once and there was nothing, then I saw CM falling that looked a little pink. I wiped again, and there was pink. So I may be out of the game this month :( But I don't usually spot before I start, so do you think I might still have a chance? I'm 15 dpo so it would seem a little late for implantation spotting.
Just a couple of quick so's
Sue happy and healthy 9 Months in case I haven't said it already.

Kanga glad you're feeling better and I totally understand the work craziness
MizlarnerI really wish I had some help to give you on that but I have no idea I'm completely hoping and keeping my fingers crossed for you
Good luck to any others testing, sorry to those that AF decided to visit, and I'm sending patience vibes(if there is such a thing) to those waiting for anything (cause sometimes waiting is awful).
me I went before Thanksgiving to the health center connected to our office/insurance - it's free to employees. I had my female exam for a type of insurance that sends a $60 check if we do some type of wellness exam during the year. I told the Dr. then that we were TTC and showed her a copy of FF. She was great about everything and told me to come back some time after Thanksgiving to talk to me about TTC. So I went today and she said she wanted me on a prescription pre-natal and to come back in either two weeks or on the first day of AF to start Clomid. I guess I need to do some more research on Clomid now b/c I wasn't really expecting to hear that she would want to start something this early since several people on here have had to wait so long to try anything. Anyway I am still waiting until Friday to POAS but I really think it didn't happen this time. Oh well we'll see.
I am feeling a new sense of peace with the Dr. visit today so that's nice.

Any possibility that my spotting could be from BD last night? I had random weird spotting earlier this cycle too, before O. I think those were from BD also.
katiems118
12-12-2007, 05:45 PM
Wen- A lot of doctors prescribe clomid freely, but it really is something that should be monitored. A lot of women with PCOS get pg on clomid. The way you know clomid works is by a 7dpo progesterone test, did she mention doing one of those?
If for some reason this current cycle is annovulatory, then they would give you Provera to end the cycle and start fresh. I would seek out a Reproductive Endocrinologist.
katiems118 yes she did go over the process similar to what you are describing briefly she said she would go over it in more detail that day to wait and see what my body does on it's on at first and then she would discuss with me and let us decide. Thanks for the info. I was trying to remember the specific wording she used so your post will help me in reading up on it. I was just going to call her office tomorrow to write the info down this time instead of trying to remember it all. I should know better than to go in the middle of a work day when my brain is mush.

Any possibility that my spotting could be from BD last night? I had random weird spotting earlier this cycle too, before O. I think those were from BD also. Hello everyone- Sorry I have been MIA. We have had a huge three week long inspection at work and the inspectors finally left yesterday! I am so glad that is over. I am currently on CD13 and just waiting for a +OPK. Hopefully I will get it in the next few days.
Tunibell- Hope you caught that egg.
Wen- Glad your visit to the Dr went well. I hope you don't need to move on to Clomid but please do be carefull with it. I am currently reading a blog of a woman who ended up having quadruplets from an unmonitored cycle of clomid. I think I would be looking for an RE also.
MizLarner- Hope the spotting is gone. Can't wait to see your chart.

Wen - I agree with everyone else be very careful with Clomid. I had major problems while on it and ended up having surgery twice after clomid cycles. They don't think the clomid caused the problems but you never know. The side effects can be pretty bad as well. Just make sure they are doing some monitoring.
mizlarner - I have my fingers crossed for you!

Hi everyone, just dropping by to say hey. I am not charting this motnh. Just not feeling it.
Its obvious that its going to take a lot more than a thermometer to get us pg. So we are using this time to just have fun, catch up on some bills and get our shit together. Then we will start wtih the RE. We are in no rush to really get pg. It would be nice, but I am not going to force it . So I am going to stop charting for now. After we go see and RE, we will go from there. But for now, I really feel like its going to take more.
Thanks for all of the advice. I'm not sure what we'll do now. I definitely don't want to do anything without tons of research, so I don't know what will happen now. I really appreciate all of the input though, when I was looking into it on the internet there was really very little negative in comparison to positive. I also only used the word Clomid and didn't put any other words with it that would bring up more negative results so I'll try that now. I haven't even looked into and RE just b/c I wasn't expecting to deal with this for awhile esp. since it seemed like so many on here and other chat rooms I frequent had to wait 6 months to a year before going to one.
Oh well enough of me rambling.
Thanks again

Wen: My GYN put me on Clomid last January after we had been trying since November, so not that long. However, my GYN knew my history with super short cycles and almost constant spotting. I had been with him since I was 19 years old. Anyway, I had no monitoring back then and I because I was unaware of the potential side effects, most importantly high order multiples  I look back and think what a mistake (not the getting help ealry, but the no monitoring).
I guess my point is don't be put off by your GYN wanting to help you sooner rather than later, but put off by the lack of monitoring. What if Clomid REALLY stimulates your ovaries and you get PG with 4-6 babies? Or what if you develop a cyst that goes undetected and it burst and takes an ovary with it? Both are extreme but have happened. Not trying to freak you out but let you know why monitoring it very important.

Please share with me your thoughts! We couldn't bd last night, the soonest we can is tonight, will that be too late? How long can an egg survive? I just feel like we missed it.

The egg survives for 24 hours, so I think there would still be a chance if you BD tonight :)
AFM: I just went through every single chart I have on FF, most of which only have information on AF. I don't have spotting before AF marked for any of them, so I wonder if this could just be late implantation spotting. I've been reading online and come across cases of people who did have late implantation.

Hello :) AF just passed so waiting to O. Like Dancin taking a break and just trying to have fun with it. Feel more relaxed this month. A friend of mine is doing her first IVF on Monday. I am and I do, unfortunately.
I think I'm going to have to wean my DD in order to get pregnant again, and it truly breaks my heart. She loves to nurse. I'm going to keep nursing her until she's 2 (in March), but then I think we'll have to wean.

Well I checked my therm tonight to test the battery and got a completely different temp, so hopefully that's not the prob. I don't know if the progesterone supps are making my hormones more level or something, or a journal buddy said her pg chart was flat. So we'll see.
The dr told me on IUI day to test in 2 weeks, which is Tuesday. But I would like to wait until Wednesday because I have the day off and won't have to rush to work, so I'll be able to deal with whatever the results are. Hopefully waiting 1 extra day won't matter, the RE said if I was pg he was going to increase my progesterone dose.

I am so sorry I've been MIA from these parts. We finally got our new computer hooked up and it is SOOOOO much better, but now my GMIL is here from FL (with GFIL) for open heart surgery. She goes in the day after Christmas and has the surgery on the 28th. Life has been very hectic here with trying to get Christmas shopping done and them wanting to spend time with our DS (their only great grandchild). I haven't had many moments to myself this past week. Ugh. I've been trying to read along and keep up with everyone when I get a chance, and hopefully things will slow down a little bit here so I can really catch up properly :o

I have a weird question that may have a little TMI...
DH and I BD'd last night (CD21, 7/9DPO) and when we were done there was blood (as if AF had started). My usual cycles are 28 days (the shortest being 24 days) so I was very confused why I would be bleeding. I put in a tampon thinking AF had started early but this morning there was no blood. I am so confused???

Some things came up yesterday; DH and I talked about them and we are going to take a break for a while.

MMH- Perhaps its implantation bleeding, the timing is about right.

katiems118 - if our BD timing was better i would have thought so but there is a slim to no chance that we conceived.

MMH - The same thing happened to me 2 days ago (spotting after DTD). I didn't have any more spotting until 24 hours later. This morning AF is here. I'm coming off a weird cycle though and possibly a chem pg so I have no idea what is normal for me.

MMH - Your cervix is very tender and can be irritated very easily after ovulation. I'm sure the bleeding is related to DTD but it's harmless because it's coming from the cervix and not from the uterus if that makes sense.
since April my DH will not DTD during the 2ww anymore because he's worked up about the bleeding. Every time we did it after O'ed I would bleed so no more sex during that time. What stinks is that I still bleeding after ovulation but mine is not related to sex

Okay, I know this is going to sound so random, but I had a very vivid dream that I checked this board and there was a huge announcement of a BFP! It had baby dust moving around and everything! :)
I'm not sure if I should say who it was or not, but it was someone testing soon.
I usually don't even remember my dreams, so this was really odd for me!!
Kopper,
I'm sorry it didn't work out this month.
Are you in North Texas?

Hi ladies!
mel I'm on the 25mg suppositories. There isn't a brand, the pharmacy my RE uses compounds it right there. I'm not having any side effects. Hope the cramping goes away and still crossing my fingers for you too!
Annette Sorry about the BFN. Hope AF stays away!
heather Sorry AF found you. Hopefully your dream will come true someday and you'll have some little guys!
oceanblue Sorry AF found you. Good luck to your GMIL on her surgery.
kopper {HUGS} So sorry. Hope you are able to come back soon.
MMH Hope it was just implant, or maybe just irritation from BD.
MizLarner Sorry to see you go, hope to see you back soon.
JennZ Oh, hope your dream comes true and someone on here gets a BFP soon!
I'm going to my grandparent's this evening to spend the night and my mom, grama and I are going to do all our Christmas baking over the weekend. Hmmm, how to keep my progest. supps in their fridge without my grampa finding them?? I think he'd keel over!

Sorry to those ladies (a whole group all at once!) that AF found. :(:(
I'm in a *foul* mood today. I'll be lucky if I am even in the mood to let DH touch me, let alone BD. And we haven't BD yet this cycle. *sigh* I think I need some sugar to feel better!
