As my baby boy approaches his 1st birthday, I have a sense of dread that instead of "baby", I must now refer to him as a toddler!?!?!??!! I don't think I can do it! Where did the time go!?!?!?!?! And now I have to switch threads, too? I'm not ready!!!!

oops--I meant to post this somewhere, not make a whole new thread!

L is 14 months old (today!) and I still read this forum as well as the "T" word one. ;)

Msnicolea - I'm feeling the same way! My DS will be 1 in a few weeks...

If it makes you feel any better, I love having a toddler a lot more than I love having a baby. They start talking, playing interactive games, you get to hear what is going on in their minds, and they become darn good company.

I read somewhere that as long as they still sleep with their bum in the air, they are still your baby :)

But, yeah, having a toddler is SO MUCH FUN!

Eh, we still occasionally call our 2 year old a baby.

I felt the same way...still do at 21 months! I do think that toddlerhood is very fun though, but also trying at times...but I guess that's motherhood!:)

I still refer to DS as a baby, even though he'll be 2 in just about a month. Then I'll catch myself and say, "well he's still MY baby." ;)

It is kind of bittersweet, isn't it...they just grow up too fast! But this is such a fun age...and at the same time, very challenging, with DS' newest favorite word being "NO."

My 20 month old is still my baby, and I read this forum and the T one as well. He'll alway be my baby :)!

I love that N is becoming so independent, verbal, etc, but yes, I do miss my baby. :)

Of course, by the time she hit one, she'd been walking for two months, so I'd already experienced that bittersweet experience. Thrilled she was walking, but sad she wasn't so little anymore. :(

Toddlerhood is fun though!

Oh, enjoy the toddlerhood!! It's when you get to the REAL "T" word that you want to bury your head in the sand and scream!! (the Teen years). Toddlerhood is SO much fun, so much discovery and you get to see the world through the eyes of your child - a really cool experience.

I remember when I couldn't wait until my son could walk... and then when he was getting into EVERYTHING, I longed for the days when he was in his bouncy chair. Just enjoy where you are the best you can, because it really does go by WAY too fast!!

I agree with all of the above posts -- it's so bittersweet, but I have really been loving these past 5-6 months more so than when he was a "baby." Once I made it through the 1st birthday I wasn't as sad anymore... in fact I felt a sense of accomplishment!
