I haven't been around in awhile, but I wanted to say congrats to everyone on their progress! :) I'll have to "drop out" for now - we're expecting #2 in August so no official trying to lose weight for me right now. :D I'd like to keep losing, but this is a darn good reason to stop!!! :D

Thanks, I needed to hear that 3 days isn't bad..I for some reason keep thinking that I need to go to the gym at least 5 times per week to make a difference. I think that I have gone completely crazy lately with lossing weight. I really just want to loss all this baby weight..I guess thats what happends when I had 3 kids in just under 4 years. I really wrecked my body, something big time and now I have to work hard to get back to my normal self...almost there thought....
August Yeah, go to the meeting on Friday just so you stay on track...

Question for those who exercise - do you eat your earned activity points? I don't because I have a hard enough time eating all my points as it is (I am nursing so I have tons to begin with).
Ferris
12-23-2008, 09:10 AM
Jennw- I don't eat my activity points because like you I have a hard time eating all my points from nursing. When I did WW in the past (not nursing) I never used my activity points either.

How is everyone doing with the holidays and all? Well I didnt go lat week cause of xmas but did really well since Friday I hope to go this fri. to at least WI and next week on Thurs. back to the meetings. Miss it already and it has only been over a week.
Do any of you know about the whole setpoints thing? Im confused by it and dont exactly know what it is.
JennW
12-30-2008, 05:59 PM
i haven't learned set points yet. a lot of the new stuff confuses me. i went to wi on christmas eve and lost 2.4 (yay!). i go tomorrow as well. i wasn't too bad over christmas other than not counting on christmas eve and christmas day but i still don't think i ate too badly. well hopefully the scale agrees with that tomorrow!

Hi all,
i'd like to join in. I am going to my first WW meeting since after giving birth to DS1 in summer 2005. I've been on and off the plan since my wedding in 2002. DH was on WW and i followed along while were were gettting ready to wed and i lost 30 lbs. Marriage and babies have not helped the cause so now i am totally committed to loooking better and feeling great. We just got a treadmill (today, NYE morning, i woke at 5:15 and did 30 min of cardio.). I will officially enroll in Monday morning and go to the meeting then. Its going to be a rough start but i'm totally motivated!

i went to wi yesterday and was up 0.4. not bad for christmas week i guess. nye was worse for me as we had a party and i def ate and drank too much. but, oh well. also i am switching my meeting days from wed to sun so i'll be weighing in this week after only 4 days.
weddings? we're going to one on friday night and i really want to try and stay on the plan. how do you guys do it?
welcome mrschappy!
disney - you'll get back on track - don't worry!
DisneyGirl
01-01-2009, 04:03 PM
Jenn My only advice about the wedding thing would be to eat right before you go and choose foods that are low in points while at the wedding. As far as drinks go..diet coke and Capt. Morgan is only 1 point (according to the guys in my WW class)
Ellyn
01-02-2009, 06:54 AM
I'll join in too. I've been going to WW since the end of Nov. My starting weight was around 187.8 and my last weigh in on 12/23 was 173.4. I have been working so hard at this...I have been incredibly pleased with WW and have heard from so many people that have tried different diet programs that this one is the best. I am eating less and making much wiser food choices. I weighed myself this morning and was 169.something...I haven't been in the 160's since before my first baby. Christmas was definitely hard - and I was actually surprised to learn I hadn't gained since I ate a little of this and a little of that - which I guess is better than what I used to do - a lot of this and a lot of that. I got so used to eating whatever I wanted and how much I wanted because I was either pg or nursing for the last 4 years! Not so easy once the pounds start adding up. With weddings/eating at special occasion places I have tried to eat what I know is low in points and plan, plan, plan. I try to find out what is being served, calculate the points and automatically subtract them in the morning so I know they're "gone". I would skip the cake and I even try to get up from the table (if there are appetizers/etc. sitting out) if it isn't at an inappropriate time.

i'm day 4 of WW and i'm terribly grouchy!! its hard for the body to adjust to portion control when you have been doing whatever for so long. Plus my pants just dont fit right! However, i did wake at 5:15 am to get on the treadmill that we bought. I find i'm more hungry on days i exercise (and more grouchy!)..i'm counting down to my first weigh in on monday (or sunday) to see my progress. I'm staying within my daily points though using some of the 35 weekly ones everyday. Its tough and i feel like quitting but that's not fair b/c it will only make me more miserable.

MRS STICK WITH IT!!
You can do it!!!!!! This is coming from someone who has lost 32 lbs in lesss than 5.5 months with some weeks gaining something big(LOL) like 3 lbs. Also, I was just like you..very use to eatting whatever I wanted and when I started I was having hard time, but I swear it will get easier and you will look back and be so HAPPY with how far you have come.
Eat more filling foods so you stay fuller longer, make sure you are drinking all your waters(this also will fill you up). Eat your exercise points if you find you are hugury after working out.
Good luck at WI and keep us posted
August2005Bride
01-08-2009, 10:32 AM
Mrschappy I also agree to stick with it as it will get easier as you go alone Ime sure youwill get the weight off in no time!
Have WI tonight and not sure how I did cause Iwent on scale last night and seemed the same. Guess we shall see.

I had WI last night - down 2.4 lbs since 12/23. I didn't do well tracking pts. over the holiday, so I am happy. I definitely controlled my portions though, but it got difficult to count when I was at others' houses. I have lost a total of 16.8.
MrsChappy: STICK WITH IT! I know it is frustrating...those first few weeks I was SO cranky and hungry, but it will get better, you'll get more used to things. One thing you should try to do is eat a lot of the filling foods - veggies, etc. Also, the WW bread is 1 pt. for 2 slices and actually tastes good! I really thought WW was a bunch of crap until I talked to some others that had lost weight on it, and it sure has worked for me - being able to eat whatever I wanted (being able to have the dessert or the tortilla chips) without feeling guilty, but just controlling my portions and planning for those points has helped. Good luck this weekend!

Well I gained .8 at WI last night but the girt even said is nothing as it isnt even a pound. I thought I did pretty well this week but my mom thinks its water gain cause I lost 3lbs last week. Onto a new week
DisneyGirl
01-09-2009, 07:29 PM
August: Sorry that you weren;t down this week, but .8 isn't anything to be uspet over. I have found(with me that it) if i had a good loss last week then I most likly know that I will not loss anything the next week.
Next week will be a better week for you.

Congrats to everyone of the weight loss!
SorryAugust for the gain! :9
Mrs. Chappy Don't quit!! I think you might need to look into eating foods that are more filling, like proteins that will give you more energy. When you work out you can eat more food as well. It might come of slowly like it has for me, and I get discouraged all the time, but I keep at it. It had literally taken me 6 months to lose 13 pounds! Before that it took me 3 months to lose 17. I still have about 10 more to get to my pre-pregnancy weight!!

first weigh in and i lost 2 lbs..thank goodness this doing something b/c you never know!! i'm on etools..how do you swap activity points..i'm not sure i know what that is..
if i work out 2 pts, that means i can eat two points more for that day if i want, right?? Just trying to plan ahead w/ some dinners that i know i hve coming up - out at restaurants.

As far as activity points, if you earn say 2 extra pts for acitivity you earned them and can use them that day Im just not sure if you can carry them over into the next. I dont think so anyway
Make sure you add your activity poits in etools under that category and you will see.
Ellyn
01-12-2009, 02:36 PM
With the new plan, I believe you can use your activity points any time during THAT week. It used to be that you had to use them that day, but if you look at the tracker, you now circle the points as you earn them and then cross them out as you eat them...so that and the 35 flex points should help with dinners out, etc. :)
Mrs.Chappy

I WI last Wed...lost 3lbs! I am now past my 10% - I have lost a total of 19.8lbs in 7 weeks...it feels SO good! I didn't do well this weekend, but I do tend to do better on the weekdays because of work and not being home all day. I am 4lbs away from my BMI for my height, and then I still want to lose about 10-11 lbs more - for a total of 14-15 more pounds. I think those will be the hardest to get off.

Well I felt like I did really great this week and was excited to go to WI yesterday. Then I came down with a 24 hour stomach flu and couldn't make it. Being sick, I didn't eat/drink all day, threw up once, etc. and was really dehydrated and when I went to WI today I had lost 6.2 lbs!!! Of course a lot of that is probably water weight from being dehydrated and the receptionist told me to expect to gain a lot of it back by next week when I'm healthy again. Grrr... now I have to wait another week to see what my loss really is. Did this ever happen to anyone else? I hope it wasn't all from the illness and I at least had a decent loss!

Ellyn Sometimes you think you do bad but ends up being a good loss in teh end :) I should listen to my own advice LOL
I didn't WI last week as I knew it was a very bad week and overdid it since I had my period but this week I seem to be doing ok except for a couple slips on the weekend. We did go out to eat Sat. night but dont think I did so bad I did have a Choc. martini but tried to count that into my extra points.
Im keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow.

I'm a monday WI..However, knowing it was MLK and i would be home w/ the kids and coudln't get there, i went on SUnday morning in the midst of a snowstorm. the timing seemed right b/c we were headed to brunch after. I lost .6 and was so disappointed. I was perfect except i went out to dinner during the week w/ girlfriends but totally stayed w/in my points and resisted beer and spinach/artichoke dip!!
The night before my WI i also went out for TAPAS and had two Sangrias but ate sensibly..the morning ofWI i worked out so i think iwas still maintaining some water and bloat. Anyway,a loss is a loss. My DH pointed out that week 2 on the Biggest Loser is always the toughest so that said, i'm still proud of my 2.6 total wt. loss in the 2 weeks i
m at it.
I didn't count points at all on sunday and told my etools that i WI on monday like always and just started tracking from there.. AT brunch i ate mainly shrimp and lobster (it was a very fancy brunch that DH and i got for the holidays from my parents)..i did, however treat myself to 2 mimosas! and didn't eat a think other than brunch all day!
Congrats on the wt. losses everyone. i love reading along to see progress or no progress..it keeps me in check!

Mrs. Chappy - You're right...week 2 (and maybe 3) are the hardest...I found those to be the hardest not to fall back into old habits, the hardest to lose, the hardest to say no, etc. I have another WW friend that told me the same thing when I was in weeks 2-3. Hang in there - good loss!
I WI today and had a loss of 1.2 I am now up to 21lbs, and am hoping to reach goal next week (well, the top end of my weight chart for height so I can lifetime after 6 weeks and stop paying ;) ), then lose about 10-15 more. I have to be disciplined this week so I can try and get that loss!

I think that is why I am not concentrating on this like I used to and it is def. disappointing. I know it prob has to do with stress and some pressure I am under but it is very frustrating.

Going to WI tomorrow. I'm nervous. I've done great the last two weeks (not one food off plan in two weeks!) but with the stomach virus and all that mess from last week I have no idea what to expect.
Disney - That's awesome! Congrats!
August - Sorry for the gain, but just think, this is a new week! I get the same way sometimes and I haven't even been doing WW that long (about two months ). Some days it feels so easy, other days it seems tough. I especially feel that way if I have a gain/little loss. But, I just try and realize if I wasn't doing WW I wouldn't be losing at all. One day at a time...

August - there will be setbacks...if you screwed up one day or one week, just tell yourself you always have a fresh start and can never give up. It is so incredibly hard. Remember how long it took to put on the weight...overall for me it was 4+ years! So remember that the weight isn't always going to come off quickly either...it takes time - you can do it!!! :)

I was thinking it might be a good idea if everyone puts there total weight loss up everyone now and again...I think it might those of us who fall of the wagon for a week or so. I myself fell off for about a month and see what others lost really helped me get moving again

I lost 2.8 lbs this week! :D AND...I met goal this week! I am finally at 164lbs - I haven't weighed that since I got married (although since having 2 kids my stomach sure doesn't look the same ) I have lost a total of 23.8 lbs. I'd like to lose about 10 more, but it sure feels good to be in the "normal" BMI for a change. I can't wait to go shopping for a few new pairs of pants after the last 10lbs come off.

Ellyn and Disney:great job! Good luck August!
So w/ activity points and etools, i've noticed i'm now getting LESS points w/ the same work out i've been doing on the treadmill..its a function of my weight i guess. But still sucks to see only 1 point for 30 min on a treadmill at 3.6 miles/hr at 9% incline and 350 calories burned..it DEF does not take into acct. my incline. How annoying!

Just joined WW online yesterday. I'm hungry, but sticking to it. I would like to lose 15 lbs. I've done WW before, did meetings this summer and lost 10 lbs. We moved overseas a few months ago and I lost when we first got here but recently gained 5 lbs. So, I need to get back in control!
I feel better today re: hunger, than I did yesterday. I know the first week is the hardest! I do like the concept of the set points, I must say :) .

Hi Ladies!
I just joined WW online the other day and am loving it so far. It's challenging for me to figure out how many points I'm eating for dinner if it's not something pre-packaged, but I'm definitely over-estimating to be on the safe side, and am hoping that once I get the hang of it it'll be easier.
As a great snack I bought the Hostess 100 calorie pack of chocolate cupcakes- they're only 1 point!!!

Hi all! I have posted sporadically here before and then fallen off the wagon. I was maintaining at a comfortable weight for a while - and then the holidays hit! As of this morning, I am 6.5 pounds above where I was maintaining! 3 pounds were this week alone so I am hoping some of it is water retention, but it was enough to make me realize I need to buckle down. I just signed up and paid for a 3-month subscription to WW online! I hope that tracking everything I eat (and making myself do so!) helps me get these 6.5 pounds off and maintain where I want to be! (which is really a range of 6.5 - 11.5 pounds from where I am - I am just shooting for the high end of the range now).
Hope it's ok if I join in here again!
Also, are there any nursing-toddler mams in here? DS still nurses 2x/day so I was given 5 points for nursing, but I'm not sure if I should have them, kwim? On the other hand, 20 points/day is really hard to fathom right now - thoughts?

Robynscott – I’d go with the extra five for now. If it keeps you from losing you can always drop them.
August – Hope you get to weigh in!
Have you guys heard of Vitatops. They are all natural, organic baked goods. They are in frozen section. They carry them in Shoprite; I’m not sure what other stores carry them. Anyway, they have muffin tops, muffins, brownies, etc. I haven’t tried them but everyone at my meeting was raving about them. I think they are all only 1 point each. I hear they are expensive though.

Robyn - welcome back!
I WI last night...and as expected, it didn't go well. I guess I knew it was coming. I am back on track today and don't want that feeling again. :( It sure is a crappy feeling going there knowing that I had gained - going and knowing/thinking you've lost a little is such a good feeling. So, I've gained 1.2 lbs...I have to be careful, because I want to be lifetime in 6 weeks, so I no longer have to pay!
Re the WW brownies: THEY're CRAP! :D They really are gross, I think...they are sort of like cocoa flavored cardboard. I definitely didn't feel satisfied after, and still wanted the real ones my kids were eating. You're definitely better off taking an extra point (for a total of 3pts) and eating a real brownie made from the box with applesauce. I've also made them with a can of black beans, and they're good! (take a box of brownie mix and a can of black beans...I drain the beans, rinse them, put them back in the can, fill the can to the top with water, puree them and mix them with the brownie mix...the kids couldn't tell the difference...not sure on the pts value, though, but I'm guessing it's ok because of the high fiber)

August - good loss!
I think I am back on track now, and according to my scale at home (which tends to be about .5 higher than WW's scales) I have lost what I gained...now to keep up the tracking.
I spent half the morning trying to find a good cake recipe with low points. It is my MILs Bday today and she is also on WW. I did find one - taking a chocolate cake mix and add one can of diet coke - it's 3 pts for 1/12th of the cake. I also read that you can take a can of diet 7up for yellow. I'm going ot serve it with FF COol whip. I hope it is ok! :) Anyone ever made it before?

Mrs. Chappy - I weighed in last week and had that gain...and weighed at home a day or two later and it was gone, probably from something similar to what you mentioned.
I weighed in today - a loss of 2.6lbs! So I lost what I had before, plus another 1.4 I'd like to be down a little more for that "buffer" zone. ;)

I dont think I will WI tonight as my "friend" showed Wed night and ate like a pig since then so of course I dont want a large gain to show. Ill think about it Im sure but prob just go to the meeting.
This has become very frustrating for me as of late and I dont understand why I just can't get my head into this like I used to. Im not counting like I should or measuring, not going to the gym, etc. Im only really drinking water like I shoudl as only thing I seem to be doing right.

MrsChappy Girl that Sangria sounds good right now LOL Im going out to dinner tonight and tom so I may use some of my 35 pts for that. But then again being Ive been doing horrible I may try and pass
Well I def. didnt WI last night, just went to the meeting. There was this one guy in there who made the 100lb loss mark and that was wake up call for me If he can loss 100 then I should be able to lose 1-2lbs a week. Makes me realize it can be done. Maybe that will keep me from stuffing myself tonight and tom LOL

Welcome Julss05!
I went to a baby shower today...did my best. I had salad, a tiny scoop of my favorite cheesy hashbrown potatoes, veggies and a little dip, and avoided the yummy crossants with chicken salad on them (and the cake). I went over points today I think, but only a few...mostly because of the salad dressing (which I only ate 2 tbsp, but it was full fat, as was the veggie dip). How is everyone else doing over Valentine's weekend?

Im off from work the next couple days but will try my best to get in here Fri morning to post my results May not have a big loss since I had one last week but hopefully it is something since I tracked and worked out again.

I did lose this past week - lost .8 for a total of 27+ lbs. Almost there! I think maintaining will be harder than losing...I'm so afraid to "level-off" and try to stay in one place.

Great job August!!!
Just got back from WI and I lost 3.8 this week! I guess that makes up for my little gain last week!:) 21.6 total loss so far. More than halfway there - yay!
Mrs.Chappy
03-01-2009, 06:55 AM
wow JENN awesome!!
I WI today a day early and lost 1.8. Total of 11.4 since 1/4.09. i celebrated by eating the biggest bagel..was sooo craving the carbs. today is my whatever day as i'm not counting points. i haven't had a day like that in a while. Tomorrow its back to yogurt, high fiber options and guzzling water

Great job everyone! Keep it up!
I have found since I hit goal that I have kind of become lax on tracking...it has definitely gotten harder. Has anyone thought ahead to "lifetime" status - will you keep going to meetings? Will you keep tracking? For how long?
I will keep up with meetings....I think wihtout them I will do awful. I will hopefully track some, but I hope now I have the "tools" to help me make better choices so I don't have to track all.the.time.
August2005Bride
03-02-2009, 05:35 AM
Thank you everyone It sure feels good. Last night I did treat myself to Chilis so hopefully that didnt spoil it but we shall see.
JennW and Mrs Great losses :) Good work
Ellyn I am afraid of also maintaining when the times comes that I reach goal but when I do I will def. keep going to meetings and tracking as best I can That will keep me going I think.
JennW
03-02-2009, 07:15 AM
Great job MrsChappy!
When I reach goal I hope I can keep going to meetings and hopefully track as best I can but pretty much just make better choices without having to weigh/measure, etc. everything. I am terrified to gain it back but right now I have to lose the rest of it first - LOL!
JennW
03-02-2009, 04:21 PM
How did you guys chose your goal weight? I thought I knew what I was going to chose but I also don't want to make it too low for fear that I'll gain it back quickly.
DisneyGirl
03-02-2009, 06:45 PM
Jenn & Mrs AWesome Losses!!!
I was suppose to have Wi today but we had a snow storm. I ate out 7 times last week since I have a few luch, breakfast and dinner dates. Oh well, I'll try harder next week.
When I hit goeal at this rate who knows if that will happen. As far as meeting I will keep going each week and as far as tracking I don't do that know so I guess I will keep going without it.
August2005Bride
03-03-2009, 05:46 AM
Disney We all have those weeks for sure Im sure you will get right back on track this week.
I honestly had a different goal weight but made it 5lbs higher as it was more realistic Still not that realistic for my height but just didnt want to be higher. I may even still try to lose 5 more once I hit that and make that my personal goal.
Mrs.Chappy
03-03-2009, 06:34 AM
The people who registered me at WW picked my 10% goal based on my weight. Honestly..i have 7 to lose but i'm happy with how i look and feel now. I was a snug size 8 and now i'm sure i can fit into size 6..some of my clothe are hanging on me.. I used to hate to wash my jeans b/c i hated that tight feeling but now i need to wash them after wearing them or else i'm forever pullling them up. I told DH, though, that i should have started WW earlier when there was more baby weight to lose b/c then i would already be at my goal.. i think.
as far as maintaing..i heard its MUCH toucher than losing and i 'm scared to death of it.
Ellyn
03-03-2009, 03:10 PM
How did you guys chose your goal weight?
I chose the highest weight for my BMI category...that way you can stop paying once you maintain for 6 weeks. In reality and in my head my goal weight is about 10 lbs below that. I know the WW book says you must stay within 2 lbs (above or below) your goal but my leader told me that it is ok to go below...they won't do anything unless you get below the recommended lowest BMI weight for height.
August2005Bride
03-04-2009, 06:57 AM
Well last night I felt I was on a bad eating binge and didnt know what it was and today Im still hungry! Already had some of my fruit but had a Rice Krispie Treat also (needed something sweet) Not good after I did so well Cant be AF cause it is too early unless its in my mind

WI was last night and I'm up 1.2 Lbs..Damn it~! But, not suprised since I ate out so much.
My goal weight according to the book is so impossible. IT says I should be 140 Lbs..YEAH RIGHT! SO, I will have my dr write a note and say 150 ish is more normal for me.

Well decided Im not going to WI tonight just go to mtg. Did horrible last couple days by eating sooo much. I will start fresh tomorrow.
Mrs.Chappy
03-05-2009, 08:42 AM
As far as goal wt. I decided that i won't go w/ their 10% which is 140..i think that's not realistic for me to maintain. i' 146.someting now but i think i'll be happy losing another 2-3 and then maintaining that. I have to LIVE!!, right?
August2005Bride
03-06-2009, 05:17 AM
Mrs You def. have to go with what you are comfortable with. I should be at a higher goal but I guess Im in denial. ;)
WEll I decided to face teh scale last night and get on even though I knew it would be a disaster. Needed to face my fears. Well I was right and gained 3.8  I told the girl I have been on an eating binge since Tues night relaly and its my own fault and the weather I think contributed. She said we all have that sometimes and its sure to come off as soon as I focus again.
So starting this morning back on track!! So far I had my 3 oz of Pineapple and 1 bottle of water with more to go.

I thought I'd stop by and drop off a website I found last night -
This lady (http://www.dwlz.com/restaurants.html)has point values for pretty much every stinkin' restaraunt you can imagine - way more thourough than WW's Dining Out Guide!
(I was looking for point values for Red Robin - holy crap! I can't eat anything there!)
Anna Low

I also love Dotties website and she is a good inspiration :)
Ellyn That is a great feeling Im sure to get into a size smaller :)
Well so far I am back on track being about .4 than I was originally and AF did show yesterday so Im sure that is a big part of why I was on an eating binge last week.
I went out late Sat. night for a friend's bday and had two drinks and of course me and my gf shared chicken fingers but only had 2. Three of us also shared a cheescake but didnt over do it eventhough it was delicous lol I did well during the day though and still had 7 pts left daily and my extra 35 so I contained myself :D
JennW

Jenn Staying the same is as good as lossing weight in my book.
Had Wi this AM and I lost 2.6 Lbs!! YEAH! I am soo happy that I finally made it past my rutt I have been in for the last 3 weeks. On to the next 5 lbs now.
I really hope to start the maintaining part soon so I can become lifetime. I think I have another 15 to go, but I have to see my dr in April so he can set a more reasonable goal for me since the one in the book it not happening or within reason in my eyes.

I'm so excited, although it would have been more if I hadn't eaten over my flex points by 2 this week. :o Oh, well. Going to start walking on breaks with a girl at work and hopefully will keep the momentum going.

I WI last night - a gain of .8 but it is wonderful AF time, so I'm blaming it on that. :D I made lifetime and 16 weeks last night! It feels good! I have about 3-4lbs left. People at work, etc. have really noticed and that feels good. :)

Well I only lost .8 last night at WI. Prob would of lost all that I gained last week but just wastn focused last few days. ITs very frustrating. Tomorrow is my BF's bridal shower at a chinese rest. so Im worried about what to eat so that isnt helping me. I guess back to trying again and def have to get my exercise in.

Great job, Jenn!
I had a 4 day weekend from work, which translated into a 4 day weekend from logging my food. :o We didn't have a meeting this week because the woman that runs our meeting is on vacation this week and couldn't get anyone to fill in for her, so luckily my weight didn't count this week. They did get the scale out for us to weigh in, though. (I do WW at work.) I was only up .2, so I would likely have lost if I had drank my water this week. I know I'm retaining massive amounts of water. Oh, well. here's to an awesome loss next week! :D

Does anyone else eat a lot of sushi? I'm pretty much obsessed. However, I feel like I may be miscalculating the points as I've read conflicting info in my pocket guide and WW magazine. I realize it varies by the size and contents of a roll, but how do you calculate sushi?

hi
I am a sushi person..we order take out every friday night..its my one treat. I think you have to be careful w/ the avocado and any 'spicy' rolls b/c those contain mayo.
I generally give myself 4 pts per maki roll. I always make sure i have the bank 35 points to dip into b/c we also get salad w/ ginger dressing or soup. are you part of etools?? There is some good estimation for different rolls on that.
HTH!
Me: i'm getting back on track after my weekend in london. well, not really tracking but watching. i skipped my meeting this week on purpose but will WI on monday. I weighed myself at home and wasn't disgusted so that's good.

03-25-2009, 07:50 AM
I need to read up on what I've missed, but it seems I never have time. I am sneaking on at work with my WI from this week.
Last week we didn't WI because the woman that runs our meetings was out of town and couldn't find anyone to fill in. Needless to say, that, coupled with a 4 day weekend, I went way off track, and wasn't able to get back on the wagon last week. So, a week and a half of horrible eating, and I expected a gain. I was pleasantly surprised, however, that I only gained .4! :D
Next week will kick butt, I'm sure. :) Okay, promise I'll try to get in here and check on everyone else's progress later tonight.
August2005Bride
03-25-2009, 07:58 AM

I lost 1.6 this week (lost the 1 lb I gained a few weeks ago and a little more ;) )...I have lost 30.6lbs now. I am having a hard time since I am technically on maintenance...so hard to do - much easier when I was losing, I think. It is so easy to fall back into old habits. :(

August: you should totally get on the scale tonight. It will help you get back on program. I skipped this week, which was my first skip since is started after the new year. It made me fall off track more. I find that stepping on the scale holds me accountable for what goes in my mouth..
you can do it.

August did you end up getting on the scale? How did it go?
I just need to vent for a second - anyone else have a hard time staying on plan over the weekends? I do so well during the week, and then the weekends I just blow it. Yesterday DH and I took the kids to a buffet for a late lunch/early dinner, and while I didn't eat all that much (started with a big plate of salad) the stuff I did eat wasn't that great for the most part. Then DH and I went to the movies and of course got the popcorn with butter, because movie theater popcorn is my weakness. *sigh* I weigh myself daily just because it's habit (I dont put much stock in the numbers, because I know that too much sodium/not enough water can artificially inflate the numbers, blah blah blah.) Anyway, this morning I was a full pound more than yesterday morning and I know it's water retention. But now I'm afraid that my numbers are going to be higher tomorrow and not show a loss, even though I know I did lose. *sigh* How can I stay focused during the weekends?
TaterBaby
03-29-2009, 11:54 AM
Mystikal, YES! My weigh in day is Thursday for a reason. I need the 4 week days to re-lose what I gained over the weekend, plus some more. I don't know why I do this every single week. It's total self-sabotage.
I was -1 on Thursday, for a total of -16.4. By Friday though, I was down another full pound, but I'm sure I've blown that this weekend and now need to re-lose it before Thursday. :o

Hello -
I would like to join in. I am a "lifetime" member of WW having lost over 30 lbs 14 months ago. I have now regained 7 lbs and need to start counting points again. Maintenance is not easy but I also had a failed IVF and that may have helped contribute to the weight gain. It is disheartening to have to do this again but I did enjoy going to the meeting this last Saturday and am starting to write down what I eat which is helping me get motivated. There is a certain amount of "disappointment" that once the weight is lost it does not automatically stay off like it was some kind of magic. I guess that is what maintenance is about - learning that you still take one day at a time, weight accumulates over time if not monitored and there is no magic wand to make the weight disappear or stop from coming back once it is originally lost.

Mrs.Chappy great WI this week! :)
Bastille welcome! I'm sorry to hear about the failed IVF. :( I can only imagine how heartwrenching is must be. It's great, though, that you're trying to get a hold on the weight now. You'll take that 7 pounds off in no time!
I WI tonight and I am down 1.2 pounds, for a total of 4 pounds. :D

Mrs and Mystikal Good loss girls :) Seeing that has to get me motivated :)
Bastille Welcome aboard and good luck to ya. I heard maintenance isnt easy as it is harder than actually losing. Not looking forward to that

Weighed in yesterday and was down 1.8 lbs for a total of -18.2. I am extremely motivated to hit -20 next week. I know I can do it!
-20 will be a big milestone for me and I fully intend to reward myself. I'm thinking a half day at the spa or some major shoe shopping. :D Do you reward yourself for hitting milestones? What kinds of things have you done?

Tater: that's awesome!!
Rewards: i know you shouldn't reward w/ food but i reward w/ chocolate sometimes! in moderation of course. I did go clothes shopping after losing 11 b/c i went down a size and things were falling off me. The reward in itself was trying on the smaller size and everything looking great!! Happy shopping!

I have been lurking but not posting. I just need to vent.
I am down 47 from pre-pregnancy (need to lose 3 more to get their) but 10 away from my goal. However, I am super frustrated. My sister in the last 6 months hired a personal trainer, works out 2 hours a day and now weighs less than me. I am happy for her, but last week I told her how much I weighted and she started dancing saying "I am skinner than Kim." I danced back and said "I am 2 inches taller." But that really hurt me. I have been thinner than her for the last 9 years and have NEVER said anything like that to her. Ughh! I feel like the fat girl in high school again when she teased me about my weight. Sorry for the rant.
So I have been trying to exercise more, but this weight is coming of so slowly. I never lose weight quickly with breastfeeding.
Sorry for the negative post!!

Ferris I would be hurt too esp when it comes to weight. Def. not mature in my opinion but dont let it get you down and discouraged. WE all have our moments but Im sure as long as you can stick with it you can do it.
Well went on scale last night and lost 1lb Since I gained over 2lbs two weeks ago I wasnt thrilled and thought I got rid of it but guess not. I know I didnt do great on the weekend but didnt feel I pushed it.
This weekend should be better We are only going to movies tom. night but going to try and bring one of my small 100 calorie packs evenif I bring 2 of them insteadof the reg popcorn. Im going to try my best

Try and sneak in a bag of 94% fat free popcorn and a Diet Coke - nothing like crunching popcorn at a movie but just make sure it is the "right" kind if you can.
Didn't go to weigh in but according to my home scale I lost 1.1 lbs in the last week. It has been interesting to track again and be more in control of what I am eating. As a lifetime member you only need to go to meetings 1x a month and stay within 2 lbs of goal weight or you need to pay the $12.00 weekly fee, so as I knew that I was not near goal I didn't go but I will go next week. That is my "intellectual response" for not going to weigh in, "real" response is that I pigged out last night and was nervous about going in as it has been a while for me to go to regular meetings and I was lazy this morning.
I pulled out my old WW pedometer and yesterday I walked 7 miles for the whole day - interesting to see and kind of fun to check in during the day. I recommend the pedometer to those of you who don't have one.

rewards Yeah, I reward myself.

So, I went to my meeting tonight after work, and I expected to lose a pound or so. Imagine my surprise when she told me I was down 3.2 pounds!!!!! :D I was so thrilled. Two pounds to go to get to my 5%, 10 pounds to get to my 10%.
Ferris congrats on the loss so far, that's incredible! I'm sorry about your sister, though. That was very mean and immature, even if she didn't mean it to be nasty. If it makes you feel any better, I always feel like the fat kid in high school when I'm around my sister. She's 5' and weighs 96 pounds soaking wet.
Disney Girl good luck getting back on the wagon. It can be tough, but it's SO worth it!!!
Rewards funny we should talk about this as I've been trying to figure out some rewards for myself. I'm thinking when I hit my 5% I'll get a manicure or pedicure and a new piece of clothing. Beyond that I'm clueless. lol.

I am down a total of 33lbs since last Nov. I don't remember when I posted here last...it's been a while. I didn't have a good week (as my stomach is also now full of Papa Murphy's Herb Chix Med. DeLite pizza) and am going to face the scale tomorrow night hoping it'll help me track over the long holiday weekend. We are going to a big brunch on Sunday and hoping I can save my 35pts plus make decent choices. :)

Ellyn congrats on your weight loss - that is a very impressive number!
I went to weigh in today for the first time in 2 weeks and lost 2.8 pounds. I am 3.8 pounds away from my lifetime goal and 2 lbs away from not having to pay anymore (as a lifetime member you can gain 2 pounds above your goal weight and not pay as long as you go to monthly meetings). My "real" goal is 6.8 pounds away as I set my WW goal 3 pounds higher than that to be able to start maintenance sooner and stop paying - not sure if this is all too confusing. Bottom line - still weight to lose. I am feeling better about following the program and tracking. I am also feeling more healthy with the better eating. Happy to be back at the meetings.

Just a quick flyby. I WI tonight and I stayed the same. I'm trying not to be disappointed, because last week sucked and I probably ate all my flex points times two it was that bad. Anyway, I'm still down six pounds from starting last month, and I'm only two pounds from hitting my 5%...hopefully next week I'll hit it.
Good luck to everyone weighing in this week!!
